  1. And who would play Lecter? Steve Gutenburg? Hey, how about Judge Reinhold?
  2. "Who's he?" "He's an Asshole, sir" "I know that! But what's his name!" "That is his name, sir. Asshole. Major Asshole." "And his cousin?" "He's an Asshole, too, sir. Gunner's mate, first class, Philip Asshole." "How many Assholes do I got on this ship, anyhow." (Most of the crew stands up) "Yo!" "I knew it, I'm surrounded by Assholes!"
  3. My votes for Daredevil. Just because I'm a huge fan, and the footage really does look bad-ass.
  4. Dunno, I think it might be a close race between Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Glad to see someone went for History of the World, though.
  5. Yeah, Manhunter was the original Hannibal Lecter movie. But this is the big budget remake (because not very many people saw Manhunter) with, of course, Anthony Hopkins as Lecter. The rest of the cast ain't bad, too. Ed Norton is the detective, Ralph Fiennes is the killer, Harvey Keitel is Jack Crawford, and then Emily Watson, Mary-Louise Parker, and Philip Seymour Hoffman round out the cast. It's directed by Brett Ratner of (sigh) Rush Hour fame, but from what I saw in the latest trailer, it looks like he did a really good job.
  6. And, oh yeah, how could I forget? Red Dragon, the prequel to Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal, comes out October 4th.
  7. Just saw the trailer that's gonna be released with Minority Report on Friday. It's abso-fuckin-lutely awesome. Joygasm worthy. Any doubts I've had have been put to rest by that 20 seconds or so of footage. Now I just need them to put it online so I can watch it frame by loving frame.
  8. The only one I left out was Dracula: Dead and Loving It...just cause I had to leave out one of them, and I really don't think anyone was going to pick that one as the best. But if you were, hey, I apologize.
  9. Amen to that. That reminds me, I need to make a Best Mel Brooks movie poll. "I'm a mog. Half man, half dog. I'm my own best friend."
  10. My sentiments exactly, IC. Most of them certainly aren't very good ideas. Bad Boys 2 was cancelled, yeah, but last I heard they brought it back. It's only announced, though, there hasn't been any work on it, yet, so it's doubtful it'll make that 2003 deadline. And the Exorcist one is actually a prequel. It's supposed to follow Father Merrin during his first exorcism. Liam Neeson is playing Merrin.
  11. Yeah, Jurassic Park, Event Horizon, Hunt for Red October, Merlin. That guy.
  12. By the way, first picture of Bulleyes. Still can't see his costume, but this definitely confirms the scar. Creepy. http://www.usatoday.com/life....vil.htm
  13. I've got crappy speakers on this computer, so I couldn't tell ya. I was very impressed with what I saw of the animation, though. Disney's animation seems like it's declined a little in the last few features. The effects don't really impress me as much anymore (I know it's possible for movies to make pretty much anything, on screen). The thing that does impress me, though, is the design and what looks like wonderful character animation. They must've finally gotten Glen Keane or Mark Henn back to animate characters. Jim Hawkins has Mark Henn expressions. Anyway, I just can't wait 'til they release some more footage.
  14. Hm, didn't remember. Never read much Spawn. I didn't have a problem with it. It wasn't really an issue with the character. By the way, they cast a Doc Ock and it isn't Laurence Fishburne. Apparently they cast Sam Neill, instead.
  15. Jersey doesn't have a release date, yet, but they start filming in Philly in the next month or so. And I did not forget Powerpuff Girls. I know that's comin' out, but it isn't a sequel. Yeah, the Lion King idea sounds like it could actually be very funny, though.
  16. Anyway...back to the topic at hand. I didn't include the soon-to-be-released ones (ie: MIB2, Goldmember, Cube 2, Halloween: Resurrection, Spy Kids 2 and Stuart Little 2) because, well...just watch tv, you'll figure out when they come out (MIB2 is the July 4th weekend, by the way). Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers - December 18th, 2002 Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - December 17th, 2003 Spider-man 2 - May 7th, 2004 X2 - May 2, 2003 The Matrix Reloaded - May 16th, 2003 The Matrix Revolutions - November 2003 (probably the 28th) Mission: Impossible 3 - May 21st 2004 Bad Boys 2 - August 17th, 2003 Charlie's Angels 2: Halo - June 27th, 2003 Exorcist 4:1 - July 18th, 2003 The Fast and the Furious 2 - August 1st, 2003 The Jungle Book 2 (animated) - February 7th, 2003 Mortal Kombat 3 - May 7th, 2003 Resident Evil 2: Nemesis - July 4th, 2003 Seriously, Dude, Where's My Car (christ...) - July 16th, 2004 Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - July 2nd, 2003 Under Siege 3 - October 2004 Analyze That - December 6th, 2002 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - November 15th, 2002 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - November 2004 Indiana Jones 4 - July 4th, 2005 Star Wars: Episode III - May 25th, 2005 Die Another Day - November 22nd, 2002 Friday After Next - November 22nd, 2002 Star Trek: Nemesis (same as the Resident Evil sequel...weird) - December 13th, 2002 Jeepers Creepers 2 - February 14th (valentine's day...geez) 2003 A few other movies are announced, but have yet to have a date put on them. George of the Jungle 2 (shudder), Highlander: Source, Meet the Fockers, Tron: Killer App (formerly with the better title "Tron 2.0"), True Lies 2, Super Knight Rider 3000 (god, I hope they change that title) and Kevin Smith's Fletch prequel are all supposedly scheduled for 2003. Many of these are likely to change, of course. A few films that are scheduled for next summer have yet to even start pre-production. Some projects have probably even been canned (last I heard, True Lies 2 and Tron: Killer App have both been axed, but it's yet to be officially announced). And for those Disney fans, out there. Disney is releasing two more of their made-for-video sequels. Mulan 2 (sigh...they just couldn't leave well enough alone) and one interesting idea...The Lion King 1 1/2, which is supposed to be a re-telling of the original Lion King, but from the warped point-of-view of Timon and Pumbaa. Weird. Anyway, that's all I know, right now.
  17. Much as I loved Chris Farley, no one could ever be as good as John Candy was.
  18. Oh, no, SE, I've nothing against the singing. I love the singing, too. I have most've the soundtracks and pretty much every song from Oliver & Company to the present memorized. It's just that everytime I read a review or hear someone talking about a Disney movie, they're always saying "it's about time they got rid of those damn song and dance numbers, and blah blah blah". I feel like I always have to remind them that they are kids movies, to begin with. And it'll be a sad day for our culture when kids have become so jaded they no longer want to see singing cartoons. Anyway, as for the trailer. It runs on quicktime, you don't need a Mac. I don't have a Mac, either. I hate the things. By the by, do you have dvd? I think they re-released Sleeping Beauty to dvd not too long ago.
  19. I agree with you there, IC. His race isn't what I got a problem with. Hell, I don't even have a problem with it, he just wouldn't have been my first choice. But I agree that race doesn't matter as much as getting a good actor that can nail the part (though I disagree with the Saint of Killers example, because I don't think any other race would fit his back story). By the by, that was Ving Rhames in Pulp Fiction, not Michael Clarke Duncan.
  20. I could never be the one to tell what is exactly alternative or not. But this was a tough choice. I went for Live, just because they're one of my all-time favorites (unfortunately, I missed 'em in concert, when they were in town...damn my broke-ness) and I figured they needed at least one vote. But REM, the Chili Peppers, and Pearl Jam came in close.
  21. Ok, being the Disney buff I am, I've known this was coming, and I've been regretting it for years. Disney's next movie after Lilo & Stitch (which opens Friday - woo!) is a retelling of Treasure Island, set in outer space - Treasure Planet. Sound like a horrible idea? Yeah. Sound like a bad rip-off of Titan AE, which didn't do too well itself? Sure does. But, like it or not, with the voices of David Hyde Pierce, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (that kid from Third Rock from the Sun), Emma Thompson, and Martin Short, it is set to come out Thanksgiving, this year. And oh yeah, it's got songs. Johnny Reznick of the Goo Goo Dolls is providing the singing voice for the main character. So, here I was, gritting my teeth and awaiting what inevitably could be the worst idea in what is becoming a long line of bad Disney ideas. But then, today, I saw the trailer. It starts off with an incredibly well designed and imaginative opening shot and then whips us through tons of stunning shots of futuristic technology, pirate ship-shaped spaceships, stellar phenomina, and oh yeah, a cloud surfing Jim Hawkins. All with beautiful flowing realistic animation that is a welcome change from the clunky cartoony movements of Atlantis. What am I to do? What am I to say? What was once an almost guaranteed stinkfest is now looking like it could be the most visually amazing traditionally animated Disney movie since Tarzan. Could it be that Disney might finally be going back to making good movies again? Even reverting back to singing characters? (because, come on, people, the songs weren't usually such a bad thing...they are supposed to be kids movies, after all...and occasionally some of them were pretty good) Please, god, let it be true! http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/treasure_planet.html
  22. Eh, after watching the movie again, after so long, I realized that the series really disgraced itself. But it's fun to watch with friends and Mystery Science Theatre the hell out of it.
  23. And I still think he looks a little younger than I always imagined the Kingpin to be.
