Yeah. I remember Guy Ritchie mentioning it in a documentary. Apparently Pitt was a huge fan of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, so he asked Ritchie for a part in Snatch - any part. Ritchie tested him and realized that Pitt just couldn't quite portray a Londoner, so he gave him the Pikey role. Re-wrote it a bit for him, too, if I remember right.

Tender lumplings everywhere, life's no fun without a good scare... By the way, did anyone else notice how annoyingly similar his Spider-man theme was to the first two Batman themes?

Well, above all else, the story sucked. It was just a rip-off of a million sci-fi stories from StarGate, all the way back to the original 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Not an homage, mind you...a rip-off. On top of that, the story had plot holes you could drive a computer generated truck through. The movie tried too hard to be politically correct with a huge interracial cast (I'm not against having an interracial cast, but it gets a bit obvious when they make EVERY character a different race) but of course the bad guy is the white American capitalist. And I think Disney bit off more than they could chew with it. They tried to make a big action movie along the lines of a Jerry Bruckheimer flick, and some of the best anime movies, but it never gets past the Saturday-morning-cartoon feel. And oh yeah, the writing can get pretty cheesy. First spoken line of the film: "You fool! You have destroyed us all!"

From the looks of it, this does seem to finally be a breath of fresh air for Disney. Thank god, too, because their movies have been going down-hill fast. I think Atlantis was one of their worst. I'm not counting Groove because Groove kinda seemed like a bunch of animators sneaked off into a broom closet and made it, without telling any of their bosses. Thank god they did, too...

Hey, I know the guy's in high demand, but in a perfect world he could play all those perfect roles. And I think Matty Murdock woulda been a good role for him. But ah well. I can live with Affleck. On the bright side, he always acts with his chin, anyway, and now his chin is the only thing visible. Maybe it was a good idea. 'S still nice to imagine how the more talented Pitt could have done the roll. Yes, the man of many accents. Though I hear he never could nail a London accent...hence his role of the Pikey in Snatch.

Well, I'm still not convinced about Affleck being DD (I would have picked Brad Pitt, myself...at least he can act) but I'll hold off my judgement until I see it. I am becoming impressed with the director, though. He seems to know just the right DD stories to reference, just the right character elements to add to the script, and he's even planning on making an R-rated cut of the movie for when they produce the DVD. By the way, the Superman movie is farther along than it ever has been, now that they've signed on a director - McG (of Charlie's Angels fame). But the production on the movie can't even start until McG finishes his sequel to Angels, and last I checked that isn't scheduled to be out until 2004.

Mmmmmmm, Kirstin Dunst...Has no one mentioned Charlize Theron, yet?

I think Batman's definitely the most memorable in the list, but I woulda chosen some of the songs from Nightmare Before Christmas as the most hummable. And yeah he did do the score for the first Mission: Impossible movie, but that doesn't count cause the best part of that score was already written for him.

And an oft' quoted one around my house (jus' cause the accent's so much fun) Connor - Well, "name one thing you're gonna need the stupid fuckin' rope for!" Murphy - That was way easier than I thought it would be! Connor - Aye Murphy - On TV you always have that guy who leaps over the sofa... Connor - And you have to shoot at him for ten fucking minutes, too!

Peter: "Egon, this reminds me of the time you tried to drill a hole through your head. Remember that?" Egon: "That would have worked if you hadn't stopped me."

I think Scent of a Woman is only watchable because of Al's character. What other actor could make such a vulgar guy so likable? And who else could actually make something as odd as "hoo-ah!" an american catch-phrase. That said, though, I think his earlier performance in Dog Day Afternoon is getting over-looked
