alive she cried
I was sure we had a thread for this, but I can't find it if there is. Anyway, big news. Today Dimension Films announced another big name that has been added to the SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR cast roster, further ramping up the ensemble – Academy Award® nominee Josh Brolin (GANGSTER SQUAD, MILK). Brolin will star as “Dwight” in the follow up to FRANK MlLLER’S SIN CITY for co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller. The part of the “Dame” has yet to be cast. Dwight is one of the favorite characters from Miller’s books and the 2005 film. In SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face. "Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and “A Dame To Kill For” is a defining episode in his life. We’re looking forward to Josh’s take on Dwight," said Rodriguez and Miller. Brolin will next be seen alongside Sean Penn in the Warner Bros. 1940’s police drama Gangster Squad set for release January 11, 2013. Brolin recently completed production on the Jason Reitman-directed film Labor Day opposite Kate Winslet, in addition to Spike Lee’s Oldboy, a remake of the popular Korean film. Brolin last appeared as young “Agent K” in Men in Black 3, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and co-starring Will Smith and Emma Thompson. In 2008, Brolin was nominated for an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and received awards from the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Board of Review for his portrayal of ‘Dan White’ in Gus Van Sant’s acclaimed film Milk. Prior to that, Brolin earned a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of an ensemble for his work in Joel and Ethan Coen’s No Country for Old Men, which also won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR weaves together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales in which the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants. The star studded ensemble includes already announced original cast members Academy Award® nominee Mickey Rourke as “Marv,” Jessica Alba as “Nancy,” Rosario Dawson as “Gail” and Jaime King as “Goldie/Wendy” with new cast members Joseph Gordon-Levitt as “Johnny,” Dennis Haysbert as “Manute” and Jamie Chung as “Miho.” Production is underway at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.[/indent] Read more at http://www.comicbook...w3OaXVgSh3qf.99 Edited January 9, 2013 by alive she cried
Keth
I wonder if its gonna be one storyline, or if they are just calling it A Dame to Kill For and doing multiple ones like the last one. Anyway, its about time this gets started. Looks like they found a good replacement for Michael Clarke Duncan.

Iambaytor
What, Devin Aoki was too good to come back as Miho? It's not like she's doing anything.
Mr. Hakujin
It's been a while since I read all the Sin City yarns, but I wanna say I ended up liking A Dame to Kill For even more than The Hard Goodbye. It's difficult for me to get excited over it now though b/c there's been so many teases over the years, but this is a legit press release, so it's really happening now, right? Right? *sigh* Also, not so thrilled they traded down a bit w/ Brolin. And I guess, like Baytor wrote, the Asian chick that played Miho in the first one is apparently too busy doing nothing to reprise the role. There was buzz on her in the original film--she was the daughter of someone famous or something, no? On the plus side, the other casting news is great--Rourke, Haysbert, Dawson, Joseph Gordon-Robin. And Alba has lost enough heat now that she might actually help earn that R rating w/ some nudity. Edited January 9, 2013 by Mr. Hakujin Baytor beat me to the Miho comment. Iambaytor
The best part about A Dame to Kill for is the ending, it fucking rules and is probably the best ending in the entire series. Brolin could work as pre-op Dwight, I just hope he at least half-ass attempts the Irish accent. Hopefully Clive Owen returns for post-op Dwight, and hopefully they just go ahead and toss Family Values on here too since they've got everyone they need for it. Then they just have to do Hell and Back and a handful of shorts for Part 3 and we're done.

Ah yes, you might be on to something here. Owen is still listed on the imdb page, so you could be right. Also, you could be right about Family Values as the press release says the new film "weaves together two of Miller's classic tales." Not sure if I'd label FV as classic though. Family Values is easily the most fun story of the bunch, it gives the people what they want: a bunch of Dwight and Miho fucking shit up. It is wall-to-wall that, and that's why it's great. alive she cried
BTS Photo Of Josh Brolin Filming SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR What's it like for the actors to film there scenes at Robert Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For? You can get a sense of what they face in this behind the scenes image featuring Josh Brolin. Mark Julian - 2/15/2013 The various cast members of Robert Rodriguez's A Dame To Kill Forhave made much of the greenscreen aspect of the Sin City process. Often the actors are filming alone and must bounce their lines of inanimate objects like tennis balls or soup cans. Josh Brolin could be alone in that car or their could be a passenger or two. [Click to enlarge] From that shot, we could get something like the below pic. Although Rodriguez tweeted that it was just a mockup and may not be the finished render. Pretty cool, eh? Hartigan literally stomped his face away, right? I need to re-read the books and re-watch the film. Has anyone seen it on Bluray as opposed to DVD? Every time it goes on sale for like $5-$7 I'm tempted to buy it on Bluray but haven't bit yet.
