  1. I think the biggest factors in determing which sport you prefer is region and upbringing. As much as I admire the athelticsm of socccer player, and I truly love national grudge matches like Brazil vs, Argentina etc... I was raised by a father, who loved and coached American Football, and I was raised in a city during the dominant years of the Miami football franchises. I have many latin american friends who love soccer because that it was they grew up loving. I have a good time with them watches their matches, but I will never love it as much as American football. Its true football is violent, but there is also a complex side to it as DoJ eluded to with rules. I have coached youth football, there is an element to that makes it like a violent chess match, putting your players in place to either defend or attack your opponent. The rules are complicated, the only thing I can say the more you watch it, the more you pick up the rules. After while you just accept them as part of the strategy in the game.
  2. For those of you who watched this amazing show, or those who would like to discover this awesome Scifi Western. In Amazon's gold box is FIREFLY! THE ENTIRE SERIES FOR $19.99! Reg. $49.99.... That's a great price!
  3. Your knowledge of design is impressive Silent Bob. I speak to you as a fellow designer a one who appreciates good art. I sometimes write from the perspective that my audience is not well versed in art, clearly that is not the case with you. I will from this point on speak as though I am speaking to a well read audience. Anyway... one more A true classic often imitated, here's one by my favorite band Pearl Jam (I own this one by the way)
  4. Yeah, I know he did not do the Edmond poster, I should have specified he didn't, I was pretty tired. It is deffinitely inspired by him. As a side note, did you Bass assisted in the main title animations for Psycho, and Anatomy of a Murder. Another one my favorite posters for Michael Mann's "The Insider" shows that less is more If you remember that film is about a Big Tobacco whistle blower, to me the poster resembles a cigarette warning. AND FOR THE RECORD, SILENT BOB HAS THE MAN CRUSH ON MR. SCIENTOLOGY!
  5. Has everybody seen this image of Rorshach buried in a European trailer for 300. Mood looks right.
  6. Welcome to Hondo's bar! now please retract your claws! SKANT!

  7. Here is a true master of Movie poster design, Saul Bass And if you wondering what else he has designed, check out his work behind him!
  8. The greatest show ever cancelled. If Joss had put this out on another network other that FOX say... SciFi (I know they show the reruns). Or if it had come out in this geek friendly TV time (Heroes, Lost) it would have soared! Everyone I lend the series boxset to asks the same thing... How could cancel this! I hope they make another 2 movies, but if you watch the movie, and listen to Joss' recent comments, it soulds like the movie was the end, not the beginning. Although I must admit, I like when I here when of the new roles from the Serenity cast (Nathan Fillion in Drive for example) fails. It not that I want them to fail, It just that great now he is free to make another Serenity or Firefly TV or movie. Selfish I know. BROWNCOATS NEVER SURRENDER!
  9. The poster alone makes you not want to enter the water. This one is fairly new, but it is excellent! They made 4 posters for this movie, but this with the old feel is my favorite!
  10. You can find it in reprint fairly cheap, originals cost thousands!
  11. Still one of the best. it captures the spirit and the time frame of the movie 1930's art deco Hollywood. www.the-reel-mccoy.com/movies/1999/images/insider_poster.jpg One of the all time classics. Designed by an artist named Saul Bass. He also designed the beggining credits for the movie, along with all its typography.
  12. Young Frankenstein is so good you forget it's a parody, it helps that he filmed it on the Universal monster sets. Gene Hackman's cameo is priceless! It is truly amazing that he put out Young Frakenstein, and Blazing Saddles a year a part! Mongo punching the horse is still one of the funniest things I have ever seen!
  13. Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash then Killers - Iron Maiden (you gotta love the shuffle function on itunes)
