  1. Why, every time I go to type "to a point," I end up typing "to a pint"? Maybe I should head to the pub... --wait, I'm already AT the pub...
  2. You're on crack. Given, "Goodbye" was okay, but the Spice Girls ain't THIS good at lyricizing (is that a word?). Try again.
  3. Annie-Dog, Smashing Pumpkins. Swallow purple terror candy Don't forget to breathe Sickened by the wanting And drowning from the need This dichromatic vision Of one who does not care To sipping cocktail sedatives Two months to hide somewhere... Once someone gets this (if anyone does), everyone who's mildly interested go find the rest of the lyrics, or ask me for them, or whatever. They're pretty wild. We're talking organ donation here. ;) Nearly the whole album's like this. Wouldn't know it from the released singles...
  4. Now that The X-Files is laid to rest and Buffy is fast on its heels, I have found my new show. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you haven't seen TV. Nick, you may like this one; reminiscent of Braveheart. Try to catch an encore of the premiere (premiered last night). Ladies, you're missing out on Heath Ledger with one helluva sexy haircut, wielding a mighty fine sword--and you can see him every week... Felicity herself guest starred in the premiere, but I don't think she's gonna be back after that... ;)
  5. Buffy, seasons 1, 2, and 3 ('course, they'll set ya back $30-$50 apiece... The X-Files...they're through about season 8, aren't they? See, these are pretty much my viewing habits...one's gone now (R.I.P.) and the other's going after this season (farewell, ol' friend), but there're always DVDs and reruns... :')
  6. Yeah, for a fairytale, that movie kicked ass. First time I saw it, I loved it, but figured everyone else on the planet (the sane ones, ya know ;) ) would think it was too corny, but no! I hear all kindza people talking about it... Who wants to be sane, anyway? It's too boring.
  7. Don't know if anyone over there knew, but Live's gonna be at Universal Orlando. Sure, it's a four-hour trip (two or three if you're floorin' it ;) ), but it may be worth it to some of ya.
  8. So here I sit, after six and they just drop some MORE on me...man, I have the house to MYSELF tonight, and I'm stuck here? Fuck this shit. Here messin' around with legal descriptions of fucking pieces of land on fucking pieces of fancy attorneys' letterhead and thin-as-fishnets fax paper... In my prim below-the-knee gray tweed skirt and my ribbed, slightly-shimmery-but-still-tasteful black shirt, hair pulled back in a clip, no makeup, chunky-heeled Mary Janes...nails are okay...I personally think I look like shit and nothing else is going well and therefore I can't feel good about myself... Horny as hell and can't do a bloody thing about it...have you any idea how long its been since I've HAD SOME?!?!?! I'm losing my mind. What the hell am I doing here?! There's gotta be something better than this... ...question is, do I deserve it?
  9. I only saw one episode--the Soup Nazi one--only because it happened to be on (rerun at the time) and I came across it and had nothing better to do...oh, and I'd heard people talk about it... Most of high school I was too busy in chorus and in drama and watching and Star Trek and Buffy and Angel and The X-Files and having pool parties and playing Borg Hide-and-Seek and Command and Conquer and drinking :soda: with my buds... It did have a profound influence, though--managing editor at work, Peggy, has ears like a dog and can hear my music on my comp from the other room even when I can't sitting right in front of it. She will forever be known to the composing room as the Music Nazi.
  10. No kiddin'. I swear, before my dear friend Jeffrey left (after his "six months 'til I find a better job" that turned out to be three years), the two of us were like the three of them. Had he been there any longer, we might've figured out some plan to leave there rich...hell, my job pays everyone's salaries, overhead, plus (according to our modest estimate) 'round $39 grand a month to Mr. Publisher over there and his wife. While the rest of us suffer, the Pub himself has the gall to write a column on whether he and the Missus'll go to Bermuda for their next anniversary or not! Not to mention the brand-new color press that'll only lose us money 'cause we don't survive on circulation, anyway, and no advertisers are gonna pay the through-the-roof prices for full-color ads... Jeff 'n' I were two pissed-off employees!!! 'N' ta think, he was stuck there with a history degree and certification to teach--and we're in need of teachers--makin' less than I am...I'm glad and proud he got out! (Miss his wry, cynical sense of humor and the company, though, even if he is a Republican (only 'cause the Confederate "party" doesn't exist anymore...)... ;) See what happens when ya get me thinkin' about work?!?!?! See, it does perpetually pervade my brain...this sucks... Okay, every time I call Tangent Man's name, he neglects his duties, so I'm assuming I won't get burned for my little rant that belongs elsewhere...
  11. I may be late here, and if you're in this part of the forum, you probably know, but I'm gonna say it, anyway. Kenshin's now on Cartoon Network. It may have been on there for a little while and I may have simply managed to miss every other commercial for it, but with the frequency with which I'm seeing them now, I doubt it. Of course, it's the sucky English dubs--no fun stuff, damn it!--so, as Yahve and my bud Ricky got me into watching subs and fansubs (yes, take a freakin' bow, Oh Almighty One), I recommend purchasing--or pirating--the English-subbed-only versions.
  12. Yeah, but if we had a modern-day Edgar Cayce...wait a sec! Call the Sci-Fi Channel! Get John Edward over here, stat!!! Kudos, props, and whatever other outdated terms I can think of for "way to go, Bob!" I thought I was the only one... :') Will do. I'll ask around at my next Pornographers Anonymous meeting. Hey, wait, this means I'm not anonymous anymore, doesn't it? Whoops! :wary:
  13. "Angel Theme (Catharsis Mix)"--Darling Violetta, remixed by Sufferance You don't have to watch Angel to appreciate this. For you dance-music aficionados, I'm not sure if this is up to par, but it's got a beat. Not to mention, if there's one bone in your body that appreciates rueful acoustics (bells and violins, to be exact), it's beautiful.
  14. Artist/band: So hard to pick, so I'll grab one whose entire albums--both of them--I could listen to over and over without skipping: Savage Garden. Song...again, same problem, I'm too much of a music lover to pick. See? music---> "Let Her Cry"--Hootie and the Blowfish, I guess. I was a pretty turbulent person in the nineties--that coulda been the theme song for anyone around me. I guess I'm just going for relevance here, 'cause in all honesty, I could never decisively pick, and these choices aren't showing the breadth of range in my musical tastes at all.
  15. Top five songs in my playlist at the moment, in random order, of course, and in no way reflecting the limits of my tastes: "Under the Water"--Jewel "Flower Man"--Tonic "Lullaby of Broadway"--Doris Day "Who Needs Sleep?"--Barenaked Ladies "Virus of the Mind"--Heather Nova "The Background" (Third Eye Blind) and "Walking after You" (Foo Fighters), along with the remainder of BNL's Stunt album, comprise the rest of the list and were tough competition. Top five songs to make me cry (random order; maybe they're completely equal with the other umpty-jillion): "Goodbye to You"--Michelle Branch "One by One"--Hootie and the Blowfish Tie between "And So It Goes" and "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)"--Billy Joel "Standing in the Way/Wish I Could Stay"--Anthony Stewart Head/Amber Benson "Your Mistake"--Sister Hazel Damn it with the other goodies--it's like Lay's, only ya can't pick just FIVE!!! "Lose Your Way"--Sophie B. Hawkins
  16. How the hell do you find Bubba way down in Miami, or way over in Texas...??? I could be wrong, but I THOUGHT he started out in Central Florida...he was a night guy on our own 93.3FLZ (formerly the Power Pig)--before he got kicked off for his antics... 'Course, depending upon how old the guy is, how long he's been in radio, and how much (and far away) he's (he was?) syndicated, he may have been elsewhere before my time... In fact, with my luck on stuff like this, it's probable. ???
  17. It's likely that not many people will pay attention to this announcement, and it's also highly likely that those of you who pay attention already know. THE MAC'S BACK, AND THEY'RE TOURING THIS SUMMER!!! They haven't set all the dates yet (I hear that they will be in SoFla, but they haven't conclusively set a date for the concert or for the tickets to go on sale). Here's Ticketmaster's page for 'em. DISAPPOINTINGLY (and that's the fucking understatement of the century... ), Christine will neither be touring nor recording. I say we drag her in kicking and screaming by her hair and fucking MAKE her perform. It's for her own good.
  18. Oooooh...was that an American-French collaborative classic war hero/porno flick I missed? ;)
  19. "You know, if we were in prison, you two would be, like, my bitches." Okay, so that was a TV show...where's Tangent Man when you need him?
  20. Dude, I know it's a little late, but I didn't even have to research it. "Unforgiven"--maybe it's "The Unforgiven"--I know the sequel's "The Unforgiven II"--by Metallica. Can't believe no one got that before me, and before now. Everyone's asleep. --Oops, forgot my lyrics. Likely, no one'll remember this thread and I won't get replied to. No matter. I love the way you speak, and I love the way you swear I love the way you walk 'round with your head held in the air I love the way your words move, and I love the way you drive I love the way you're scared of people scared to be alive I love the way you dress up on Saturday night I love the way you never speak until it feels just right I love the way you're spending all your money on yourself I love the way you answer the phone and pretend you're someone else Now, I don't wanna talk about the things you overcame By draggin' up the past--I'd put you through it all again I've got the greatest admiration for the way that you got through it Couldn't ask nobody else to do it better than you do it
  21. "Maybe, if we were the last two people on Earth--and there were no sheep. Are there sheep?!" "Ooh, somebody still has their panties in a twist."
  22. :approve: THANK YOU, Heartless!!! Samoas ROCK!!! (Yeah, I like thin mints, but Samoas tie.) And, dude, not only does Scouting (Boy and Girl) promote GENDER roles, they're also a fuckin' subversive attempt--effective sneaks, too--at religious brainwashing. They incorporate all kinds of Judeo-Christian principles, serving God is part of their credo, and remember the issue with the gay scoutmaster who got kicked out?!--and it was UPHELD!!! alert: We gotta get a atheist/agnostic/non-Judeo-Christian-religion-friendly, coed scouting-type program going. I mean, hey, I'm all for the camping and learning self-reliance thing, but make EVERYONE earn the SAME badges--make the guys sew and make the girls learn to pee in the woods, and for God's--or no gods'--sake, PROMOTE FUCKIN' TOLERANCE!!! That's one of the most important life skills a child can ever learn. ;)
  23. Dude, I just saw SE7EN. Okay, okay, so it was the cheesy, dubbed-when-they-curse, formatted-to-fit-your-screen-and-edited-for-content-and-to-run-in-the-time-allotted TNT version, but it's more than the five minutes of it I watched at Meghan's fateful birthday party when we were in eighth grade... I'm gonna have to yank something off my list already to put that one in there. Anyone read any of the (unfinished) book series based the same way? Lawrence Sanders? I think his series was pretty obscure--doesn't help that he gave up after four sins--but I read the first one. Never got a chance to start the second, then promptly managed to lose both novels (have no clue how I managed to lose BOOKS...), and I didn't know the third and fourth existed 'til now when I did some digging. If any of you actually like reading wicked-weird, homicido-erotic stuff instead of just WATCHING it, The First Deadly Sin is for you. I won't plug the other three 'til I read them, and DAMN Sanders for quitting after only four!!! Ya think it had some effect that I was, like, ten when I read that book? ;)
