  1. Finally, we're getting word of the console release of this well anticipated game. It's looking great (mind you, the soul calibur game looked just as good.) This time, with a few additions. actually a lot more additions. there should be a quest mode for 200+ weapons, which are reminicent of soul edge, the very first part of this series, which was realased on the playstation. Here's the part that everyone wants to hear....... Namco has officially announced the lineup of guest characters that will be appearing in the individual console versions of Soul Calibur II. Link from The Legend of Zelda series will be appearing in the GameCube version of the game, while a bare-fisted Heihachi from the Tekken series and Todd McFarlane's Spawn will appear in the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions respectively. While the x-box's spawn is definatly by far the coolest.... (check out these pics!!!) Spawn! I believe the best controller to use in a fighting game would be the playstation2's.
  2. winding down the series.... the whole way through, you have a rollercoaster ride through the historical events of japan's edo and tokagawan era. um, nick could back me up -- you japanese history freak... anyway, it would be nice if they had some tv show like this when i was younger, and had to study american history.
  3. finally, finally... nick watches cowboy bebop. there isn't a reason why you shouldn't have already done it! I hope you like it. It is stylish and will touch almost every genre imaginable. for the kagillionth time everyone - one of the best i've seen. watch it and find out - do not miss this one.
  4. Thanks for backin me there ic. sure, most horror films don't have too much replay value, but it's nice to see some out there that do. speaking of horror/thriller no replay value, check out resurrection. it's one of those christopher lambert movie types (detective, mystery... i.e. first knight) One of those that will make you nausious one way or another.
  5. TD, i disagree. This is a "jump" movie. This is also a "sound" movie. A LOT of bass to show off your system anyway, yes this movie is creepy as hell. Wanna jump? watch this one in the dark, with a relatively good volume to it. Awesome! However, it's not a keeper movie, the replay value on this movie is nill.
  6. style, originality, and complexity? yes. a good film? no. sorry guys, but this film is going in what direction? it's like one guy getting tugged every which way. Like the genre. There is none to describe this film. Yes, it comes together fine, but it's something i'd recommend only to the die hard david lynch fans. i did like the frank thing though. note: chihiro was angry i showed it to her
  7. still haven't seen this damn movie..... well anyway, lemmie fill in about the japanese version. in the ring, it's not traditional horror. chihiro calls it culture. it starts off looking like some urban legend, but as it progresses, you are immersed in the middle of it. there aren't any pop up scares in this movie. it focuses on being creepy. i guess i'm too americanized, expecting some blood or things jumping out, but first time, it didn't scare me. However, it's not a movie that works like that. it works after you see it. If you think about it after watching it, it makes you afraid in an uneasy, uncomfortable way. There definatly will be mixed reviews on the japanese version. let me know if you wanna check it out.
  8. Definatly a chick movie. It's longer than it should be and a majority here's been done before, but it leaves you thinking about wonder years. There's no comedy in it, just mandy moore lookin fine. Spoiler: it's a tear jerker
  9. Been meaning to post about this movie. This movie is hardcore drama with pretty good performances. It's about family cohesiveness. That's all i'm gonna say about it, cause it really shines through and there are a few things i shouldn't ruin for yall. It might be a little on the predictable side though. Starring kelvin kline and hayden christenson (star wars II.) quoteth chichan: 'he is actually cute in this movie'
  10. sure.... yall comon down. i can give you an asswhuppin in soul calibur, the undisputed #1 fighting game.... nick, i kamikaze you in bomber man. if i go down you do too... as for virtua fighter 4, yall can play imitation all you like, when you're finally done pratcing that imitation fighting game, you are welcome to try to beat me at soul calibur.

    Warcraft III

i haven't actually played the game... my pc is to slo :( however, i have watched people oncampus and yahve play it. I don't see any problems with the framerates or cutscenes. The game is utterly, unmistakenably a game i would really enjoy playing. wow!
  12. TD, great question, why didn't i see it before? of course, IC, in a given environment, you wanna be playing with all your buddies. That's how i take this poll. I suppose the bottom of the ring for me would be single player, computer, online. But then again, you could have a mic and be playing counterstrike, which is quite addicting. I almost got into it when i played it oncampus the way i voted for - which is lan/home network gaming. This is no doubt the most expensive and unfortuantely (damn higer end computer/vid card, network cards/cables/hubs, etc), a lot of folks out there haven't had this kind of experience. I remember playing starcraft with yahve, kevin, dorothy, celso, and giannax. Words cannot describe the yelling, screaming and fun we had. I've played other games in this fashion, but since we had so many players, it was very enjoyable. Even though i most likely was the worst player, mabye, it was fun to team up and beat monster yahve, who was arguebly one of the best. A very close second is multiplayer console. JMT, listen up.....Now, when this question was conceived, there probably wasn't the amount of multiplayer on the console as there is now. One of the most heavy factors I have an x-box is cause of co-op halo. This game mode is no joke. In addition to multiplayer frag fest, you have co-op split screen. Furthermore, not known to the average non-halo junkie, halo can be networked to other x-boxes with different screens for team play. When played as such, you can devise many strategies to take down the other team, again, without the other team knowing. this makes it that much closer to the computer lan/network. Together with the game's well balanced weapons, halo is ungodly. Serious Sam is another co-op split screen game that is out, but i'm not sure if it can be networked. There is a new game coming out - forgot the name, but it will do something that halo can't. It is FOUR, yes, FOUR player co-op FPS that anyone can jump in at anytime they want.... halo is only two person, start a new game. Mechassault is now the online leader for x-box, along with tom clancy's ghost recon (similar to rainbow six and counterstrike type of games.) Mechassault can also be networked or used with x-box live with the mic. But then again, I would prefer to play with my friends. again, you have other games(note: x-box has a network port built in and uses the same hardware as computers do. seems like x-box is the only console that has the power to support co-op multiplayer fps) From the top of my head, there are few co-op non-fps next generation console games. Gauntlet legends and hunter: the reckenoning. IC can probably name more. remember, it's co-op, not every man for himself.
  13. OMG.... if you are watching kenshin, do not, i repeat do not read what is posted above about the most recent installment. it is a major spoiler!!!!!!!!!!!! dammit
  14. Philadelphia ?!? what the hell? i'd figure california, there's a lot of japanese folk out there. anyway, sounds like cartoon network has paved the way to anime. kinda makes you think though. is cartoon network really all that popular? by far, people perk to words like "HBO, or SHOWTIME" but cartoon network? It seems like it's gonna be awhile till you start seeing any anime as major icons.... Oh well, I can only hope that the publicity dept does a good job and wish for the best for that new philly channel.
  15. easy question - all you anime freaks, give the newbies a chance.... Yoko Kanno, who is the mastermind of the blues music behind the cowboy bebop series is also known for arranging what other musical score? medium question - What was the defense system in robotech aka "macross" called where the operator needed to roll around a ball-like interface to position it correctly? hard question - what was the name of the dirty politician who hired Roy in akira?
  16. i mean, what exactly is it? comedy, action? what do you like about it?
  17. i also heard something along those lines... one fansub company would give up and another would take it on. so if you ever go to one of those fansub sites, you'll see like 4 different fansub companies tag teaming the damn thing. It's utterly insane. I do have the first 4 episodes somewhere, i think. speaking of which, anyone know when it's going to go official?
  18. i wish i got to play more of this game. From what i have played, it's beautiful. The graphics are totally smooth and detailed. The lighting effects from gunfire and special effects are top notch. I totally dig the way the background/title screen is interactive, kind of like a well done dvd menu. It is very difficult to find something wrong with the game. The only thing is: i'm used the new layout for fps shooters which i've played recently (halo, red faction 2, splinter cell) where you move with the left stick and aim with the right. Metroid prime totally threw me off when i played it. I had problems aiming up and down and switching the visor/attack mode. Those guys that did metroid could have incorporated the dual thumbstick setup somehow or at least gave you the option to set up the controls. Well, i'm pretty sure if i had some more time, i'd get used to it. Definately though, definately... it is hands down the best gamecube game so far.
  19. oh yeah, that pic is just kick ass sweet... more info... there is actually more to the disarms that i knew about. for every weapon the enemy has, you can disarm him in a different style using a different button combination. I believe there are four types of disarms for every weapon. If you like, you can also do it in slo-mo by tapping the disarm button again. and finally, you can change the camera angle during the disarm by hitting another button. all of them are kind of like namco's signature throw moves from the soul calibur series - innovative and nasty cool. NAMCO kicks ass!
  20. OMG.... there is a suggestion on the page that involves 2 GBAs.. who has 2 GAMEBOY ADVANCES? oh yeah, and the page does mention this: Mr. Resetti Reset the Gamecube during the game. Start the game again and Mr. Resetti will appear to complain. Repeat this to make him more angry. yeah, they seem to know that guy too.
  21. i think i might jump on the bandwaggon of serious sam when i get around to it. it's another one of those fast paced first person shooters reminicent of duke nukem and doom. milky way galaxy in the trash can? anyway, the x-box is what i would get it for, since it has part one and part two in one along with co-op tag team action. long live fps with high fps and mayhem... don't forget the corny jokes and one liners.
  22. she spends more time than i do playing it. we are under the same account, kind of tag-teaming the game. I never knew that i could start up in another town... mabye i should try that. from what we got so far, we have a job in tom nook's store and run errands for him. however, sometimes we mess up and hit reset. when the game is started up again, this little mole, called resettii, comes out and scolds you for hitting reset - each time with growing anger. words cannot describe his nuisance, he's funny, but mabye chihiro shouldn't be so picky at making a perfect game.... she found out that you can shake the trees and money falls down, but she did it with the wrong tree - i was on the computer when i heard her scream. I thought she hurt herself, but no, her character has a big ol bandaid on her head, all cute and all. a lot of the neighbors want attention in the game, and it's a pain to write letters with the controller. that's my biggest gripe. other than that, i could put more time into it. more as it comes along....
  23. gawd dammit... no L and R? crap! it's all crap! note - correct me if i'm wrong IC, but animal crossing can download NES classics to the thing?
  24. here's a fun game to pass the time.... download it at shockwave.com
