dave mira's name has been removed from the game. they say it was cause the game developers wanted to have more freedom.... what is that supposed to mean? sounds like a copout - dave doesn't want any negative controversy.

ok. picture this: girl has little pet hamster that makes cracks on her and her sexual life. a lot of the time, he ends up with a bloody nose or splat on the wall. really slapstick in this dept. drawn relatively with little detail the main focus here is how much abuse this hamster can take (a-la kenny from south park) versus how many wise cracks he can make. of course, she's got a boyfriend and there are a lot of relationship jokes too. this is anime is definately one you won't forget.

sorry guys, in my other thread about john woo's films (somewhere in cinematic storytelling,) i do a complete rundown of woo's flicks. The point is, somewhere in the transition of eastern/western culture, we're gonna see major differences. Ask anyone who watches anime. Why is ranma never gonna be on american television? Why are games like dead or alive: volleyball extreme causing so much commotion here in the US? I'm just disappointed it's gotta be that way. If woo brought over some of his story (many of his hk flicks are written himself) along with his style, that'd be awesome. So, we gotta tone it down and/or give a warm fuzzy ending. I saw john carpenter's vampires. basically, it's john woods being a badass. it's pretty cool, but i would have liked to see his character do something other than say, "let's kick some vampire butt." character development nill to none. but badass nonetheless. The thing was interesting, better than i thought it would be. yeah, and what's up with this john carpenter's, clive barker's blah blah blah? name the damn move, not after yourself. hellraiser bloodline was kinda cool though.

of the 7 versions of ps2, i have a v4. the article above lists how to check what version ps2 it is. this means that i can use the no solder v4, v5, v6 neokey. now, gotta think about the plunge - $80+ smakers. decisions decisions.... so it's true that those guys in china are making gamecube backups?

final fantasy had a plot with gea like what most of the final fantasy games go into. Because the plot was less understood, i believe it lost the average moviegoer. Other animated films like titan ae and dreamworks animated stuff usually have this i feel good and fuzzy all over feel when you walk out of the theater. It pisses me off that things have to work this way. What happened to tragedy? everyone knows john woo's HK flicks are better. Now they got fuzzy endings!@ Back to quake. like the comic book-movie transitions, they are getting better. now we can quite possibly see the change in video game movies- one can only hope. once we break the barrier, we will see better actors, directors, and scripts. again, it's gotta start somewhere and i think that quake is a great place to make an awesome action film.

I originally wanted to make a poll, but my question was too long. Do you think these two games (dave mirra bmx xxx & DOA Extreme Beach Volleyball) will start a trend? After analyzing the console game market (males 18-34,) game developers are focusing on pushing the edge a different way. We already have GTA3, duke nukem, and conker's bad fur day, what else could they have up their sleeves? Up and coming games in question - dave mirra bmx xxx & dead or alive: extreme beach volleyball. I just read an article in game informer which gives the basic rundown. Dave mirra's popular bmx series is outfitted with bmx xxx - formerly known as dave mira's bmx 3. This game is supposed to have mature jokes and themes along a la howard stern show and maxim. i'll save you the time of reading about the jokes they had in the article, cause they were too stern-like. There are also little things like possible mini games of getting fans to flash the player or being able to give the biker a see-through outfit. However, the big thing is that during the game you collect coins in which you can use in "Scores" strip club, where you can unlock dvd rips of strippers. DOA has similar features, custom bikinis (again possibility of see-through ones,) wet t-shirt, and a possible topless mode. There is also a distraction feature, no details, but one can only guess. Like doa, bmx will also try to "bounce." Both companies, temco and acclaim are being quite vague to gain hype. Seems like acclaim is pushing the envelope in advertising, as also seen in irish's tombstone post. The coolest thing about this article though are the marketing directors for each company. The best quote being temco's John Inada. "I don't [think there will be a backlash]. I don't like government to begin with, so anything to make them angry [is fine]. Of course, when I say something like that, Sony and Microsoft grab me and tell me to shut up! [laughs]" Anyway, back to what's at hand. Both temco and acclaim feel that nudity can be given a M rating; for AO games don't sell, because no one wants to sell em. Mabye they'll get that M, after all, R rated movies have nudity. But will these two games start a trend? What do you think?

btw, my co-worker tells me that gamecube has many, many measures against pirarcy. even that little disc holding over a gig of info makes me wonder how anyone could do it. whats the skinny on these chinese guys? seems like they think they're some kind of rebels, soo cool and stylish. descent is a kick-ass game! Its multiplayer is CRAZY. No, i don't play computer games either, my 500mhz would die. But then again, when i do play a computer game, i transform into one of those mouse/keyboard people you were mentioning before. haha..

it's true, most of the cool games are in dvd format mgs2 and gt2. those are copied using some kind of dvd method i'm sure. there are other games that aren't dvd based - you'd be suprised. somewhere in those articles too - it mentions the fact that when you boot a dvd ps2 game, you will need an original of greater size. gt2 is a relatively small dvd based game compared to the others, so you will need to boot with something else.
