Jont
I just got one of those extra strong Guinesses for the very first time, they come in little bottles and they're around 8% proof so you probably get the same alcohol from a full pint, but with less bowel worrying black stuff. Ganny McVagflaps
Extra Strong Guinness, eh? I like the sound of that. No 8% beer can ever hold a candle to the monster that is BAVARIA8.6 however. That shit is fucking great (at getting you pissed...not so great at tasting good.)
the division of joy
8.6 is decent, as is that blend of bavaria, but you gotta look to rochefort 10... 11.2 percent, or sanmichlaus bier, 14 percent.... they'll fuck ya up and if ever you find yourself in "shudder" france, there is a beer, amsterdam maximator, 12 or so percent, and its under a euro a can.... Pure hobo bait....
soldier of fortune
guinness, i don't like it much, prefer lager to be honest... though i have had occassional spells of being a guiness drinker! JD single barrel, that is lovely, much nicer than the other JD

the division of joy
i havent drank guinness in a while for a number of reasons, last two pints i had were so vulgar and disgusting i nearly lost my stomach.... its clear the taps were filthy, the guinness had been tampered with and the pint wasn't poured right..... two, my usual pub i go to, the porterhouse, brews its own stout without half the crap that they put into guinness and is Actually good for you, especially the oyster stout, i like the fact too that seeing as there is no chemicals in their house beers, they leave minimal hangovers in the morning... whats more the taste of the house stouts leave the slight bitter vinegary taste you can get with guinness out... three, my usual pub doesnt sell guinness four, most pubs i go to don't sell good pints and dont take care of their taps
soldier of fortune
three, my usual pub doesnt sell guinness Is your usual in Ireland? Thats a rarity!
the division of joy
yeah, it is, right in the heart of dublin.... the porterhouse... they brew their own beers that make guinness taste like dirt, and are chemical free, natural ingredients and are cheap enough too... they only sell their own stuff on tap, apart from the occasional guest beer, and the guest beers are usually organic and natural too.... if ever you're in dublin you should check it out
soldier of fortune
Oh i've been there! believe me! Don't remember much though They have another one near Croke Park, and didn't they buy Judge Roy Bean's too?
the division of joy
yeah, in phibsboro, and the one on nassau street where roy beans used to be sells guinnes i think, they've another one out in bray too, never been though, love the temple bar one though, such atmosphere and i Love the range of drink they have.... lately ive been drinking leffe blonde... such a great beer
soldier of fortune
Yeah its good alright. My mate Liam aka Vache introduced it to me! Its good you can get it in the offies now! the division of joy
i love the grand cru, forbidden fruits is pretty nice too if you can track it down.... but if you like wheat beers, try one called "maisels weisse"... its awesome
soldier of fortune
Oddbins in Blanch is good for a lot of foreign beers. But O'Briens chain has gotten a lot better. Whats Leffe Brun like? it looks nasty,
Nanno
you guys would drink anything.
the division of joy
nanno, im actually really picky about what i drink, ask crimsonfire... and leffe brun is actually nice... its a fair bit harsher/bitterer than the blonde, not as sweet, but i like it... i'd give it a shot, but if you're looking for anything beer wise, i'd reccomend one, "Westmalle Tripel" its strong, 9.5 percent, but its really nice... failing getting that, Kwak or Duvel are favorites of mine... (fuck, im the only 19 year old i know who is a walking encyclopedia on belgian beer)
soldier of fortune
Lets face it the belgians know how to make 2 good things, beer and chocolate! Especially those trappist monks! Have you tried chimey (sp) ? So what're your top 5 beers at the minute
the division of joy
Leffe Blonde, Westmalle Tripel, Tyskie Gronie, Maisels Weisse and Peroni Nasturo Azzuro.... all different but excellent beers and all the chimay beers are awesome, especially the red
soldier of fortune
You've given me 3 beers to try, are they readily available in most good off licences cos these pubs in navan only sell stella! no other good beer! Apart from Heineken, which is great!
the division of joy
what ones've you tried there apart from the blonde? and if you think heineken is good, you'll get along Great with crimsonfire, personally, i dont like it, nor do i like what most pubs sell, with the exception of carlsberg... that shit is beautiful
