The NZA Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Lotta hype from this album, i just realized it was Cee-lo (Goodie Mob) on the vocals - im prolly gonna try it out next week. Amazon makes it sound like a big crossover thing, hip-hop/pop/rap, figured somebody else here's gotta know about it. Says them: In 2006, Danger Mouse is King Midas of the music world. He has an uncanny knack for creating jagged, dense, frenzied beats and odd, eerie, vivid soundscapes that never compromise the music's natural flow. Meanwhile, rapper and singer Cee-Lo, a veteran of Atlanta's Dirty South scene, has never been one to be constrained by hip-hop conventions, and is a willing partner in adventure. The result is an intrepid psychedelic blend of pop, hip-hop, soul, and rock that consistently challenges and delights. It's no wonder that "Crazy," with its modest riff, irresistible hook, and disarming opening line ("I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind") became a worldwide Internet sensation a full six months before the official release of St. Elsewhere. But that relatively simple soul-pop gem is the tamest track on this wide-ranging, often dark and introspective collaboration. (In fact, the duo considers Gnarls Barkley to be a wholly new creation, as opposed to a collaboration of existing artists.) "Everybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves," Cee-Lo croons on "Who Cares?" He and Danger Mouse try very hard not to be their old selves as they creatively and confidently break down boundaries, but the brilliant cores of their musical personae--Cee-Lo's eccentric spiritual soul man and Danger's bold sonic explorer--remain.
the division of joy Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I picked up this album after the tune crazy came out, i really like it, its really quirky but at the same time being amazingly listenable... i'd reccomend it to anyone, its the kinda thing anyone, could listen to, no matter what music they like
Reverend Jax Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I was thinking of getting this, then I heard the cover of Gone Daddy Gone and I thought "Well, I don't liek it better than the originalo, but it's good and if they're covering Violent Femmes songs, their whole outlook on music music be good." So now I'm definitely getting it.
LightningOBO Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I love it...BUT i can't stand Cee-lo...he's such a sleezeball..married and hitting on me (2003) --asshole....talented asshole. But Danger Mouse is the shiiiiet! Cool cat and amazingly talented--more than Cee-lo--yep i'm being biased (sp)
La Lindsay Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 oh nicholas, what have you done? what have you done?
The NZA Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 I love it...BUT i can't stand Cee-lo...he's such a sleezeball..married and hitting on me (2003) --asshole....talented asshole. wha? you sure it was him? LL has a friend who Jigga hit on, he couldve had a ring and a dozen babies and that woudlnt change his music any. I dont know shit about what Danger Mouse has done since Gray Album and Danger Doom, but i liked both thos projects, so im checking this out this week.
La Lindsay Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 oh yeah, my freshman roommate (her ass was the most amazing thing i've ever seen. ever...) yeah, that was crazy. he invited her to the superbowl and a couple weeks later to an orlando magic game. he called our dorm a couple of times. it was crazy. she also smoked out with snoop. he passed her the blunt. she also went to a party that r. kelly had on south beach and luckily for her, she was too old for him to pee on. she had a good year.

LOL i'm sure she had a great time...she met them in South Beach, Memorial Day Weekend? anyway. I love the Grey Album...i think it is genius and P.Diddy's got nothing on this fucker! IC, you're right about that not changing his music...i'm definitely hating...and it is too bad that Cee Lo did not make it that big with his solo projects.
Ganny McVagflaps Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 JayZ never hit on me "Well, I don't liek it better than the originalo, but it's good and if they're covering Violent Femmes songs, their whole outlook on music music be good." I'm with Jacques.
the division of joy Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 the more i listen to this album i think "why is it so freakin short... its brilliant, but under 40 minutes.. wtf"

Reverend Jax Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Thanks, I actually came here to listen to it again. It is the awesome. It really is. I think it's got a good chance of becoming a big hit, but I'm wondering what the radio-edit will sound like. Will he have an alternative recording saying "Eff you" or "Screw you", or will it be bleeped? I'm super curious now.
Thelogan Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Billboard Bits: Cee-Lo's 'F*** You' Is Viral Hit Gnarls Barkley frontman Cee-Lo may have finally found the perfect follow-up to the chart-topping "Crazy." The expletive-laden "Fuck You," which riffs on classic soul while dissing a "gold digger" ex, was posted online last Thursday (Aug. 19) and has already garnered 1.4 million YouTube views. The song, which was co-written and produced by Bruno Mars, is set to be released as a single Oct. 4 as well as appear on the singer's upcoming album "The LadyKiller."
