alive she cried
Man, Rocky I deserves so more props than that. And fucking Rocky III had Mr T! ok rocky was a good movie, but not a better than taxi driver movie, nowhere near it. rocky III having mr t makes a it a cool movie, not a good movie. aw, someone doesnt appreciate Cold War history. its like a timepiece, man. rocky has a boxing match, cold war ends with everybody loving america. it's a very funny timepiece In a world populated by Robocop and Ash, Taxi Driver can never be the best movie. I'm sorry but no greater thing exists, and if they ever made Ash Meets Robocop then the world would implode from over-awesomeness. robocop and evil dead? robocop - 4/10 (a movie that is shit) robocop 2,3,? - 2/10 (movies that are very shit) evil dead - 3/10 (crap gore fest) evil dead 2 - 4/10 (a crap comedic version of a crap gore fest) evil dead 3 - 2/10 (mind bogglingly crap, at least the first half hour was. i turned it off after that) Edited March 13, 2008 by alive she cried

Iambaytor
nigga please Number of Chainsaws in Taxi Driver = 0 Number of One-Liners that have become equally annoying to "Hasta La Vista, Baby" = 1 Retarded Hairstyles = 1 Number of times when the plot of the movie was thrown aside for some pointless exposition = Like 30 Robert DeNiro's Coolness in this film on a scale from 1 to 10 = 7 Number of people who fucking worship this movie based more on the star and director than anything else = MILLIONS Add that all up and it equals a solid "Good"

Iambaytor
I'm trying to suggest that Taxi Driver is not the pinnacle of greatness that everyone makes it out to be. It's a good movie, an entertaining movie, and one that I thoroughly enjoy. But it's not the best movie ever made, it's not even Scorsese's best movie. EDIT: For reference, these posts are all still typed with a lighthearted tone. I just tend to be overzealous. Osidius the Emphatic
How the hell did a thread about Rocky turn into a handicap match of Ash/Robocop vs Taxi Driver? For one I love all three movies but these are apples and oranges. There is no way to can say Evil Dead is a better movie then Taxi Driver because we all know it was such a low budget movie, but that is what made it such a cult classic. Robocop I just recently saw it and I have no fucking clue how they marketed the toys to kids seeing as the movies were ultra violent for children but I loved it. Taxi Driver is just a down right classic up there with Raging Bull, Godfather, and a million standard classics, it was sooo ahead of its time. Then again this is coming from someone that worships Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as the greatest movie ever.

Then again this is coming from someone that worships Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as the greatest movie ever. It happens when it's during the slow period and nobody's got anything interesting to say. And they are apples and oranges, that was the point, it was kinda like comparing Rocky to Taxi Driver, the only comparison is that they both came up for an Oscar nomination. As I said Taxi Driver was a great film but I'm more of a Mean Streets/Goodfellas/and to a much lesser extent Casino guy myself. And if you think the Robocop toys were fucked up, feast your eyes on this!

Here is a man who would not take it anymore. A man who stood up against the scum, the cunts, the dogs, the filth, the shit. Here is a man who stood up." "Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets." "I realize now how much she's just like the others, cold and distant, and many people are like that, women for sure" and to top it all off, de niro gives one of the best performances of his life. i just can't think of a better story or a better leading actor or director
Iambaytor
Well in all honesty as absurd as it is I could say the same about the Evil Dead movies come to think of it. Ash was a pussy in the first film but as the series panned out he got more bold and sarcastic, that seems like something I would do. Plus I could see my thought process leading to "Let's replace my hand with a chainsaw"
The NZA
rocky has a boxing match, cold war ends with everybody loving america. it's a very funny timepiece ...but isnt that how the war went?! also, Taxi Driver's great but i admit to preferring Raging Bull, last i saw em both. Oh, and Baytor's chart has way too many heads before Mclaine.

Reverend Jax
ASC, if you relate to Travis, remind me to skip the hondo's meetup when you visit Miami . Also, my advice to you: Don't take nice girls on dates to porno theaters.

The NZA
MGM creating 'Rocky' spinoff, 'Creed', with Michael B. Jordan MGM is setting Ryan Coogler to direct Creed, and the studio is in early talks with Coogler’s Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan to play the grandson of Apollo Creed in a continuation of the Rocky saga that Coogler is going to write with Aaron Covington. Sylvester Stallone will reprise Rocky Balboa as a retired fighter-turned-trainer. This comes in the wake of a strong summer platform opening for Fruitvale Station, the film that won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Awards at Sundance, and captured Prize Of The Future at the Cannes Film Festival, where Coogler and Jordan were the toast of the Croisette. Coogler intends for this to be his directorial followup to Fruitvale Station so the intention is to make it happen quickly.
Reverend Jax
I wonder if this grandson will be Apollo the 3rd, or if he'll have another name.
