The first in a three part series, Game Show Poll Part 1 will cover Classic Game Shows aimed at adult audiences. 'Classic' is defined by me as Pre-Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, as that show kick started the modern game show renaissance. By 'adult', I don't mean pornographic, just that it's not marketed to kids (that'll be another poll). I choose the shows that made the cut based no my subjective choice, but I used this list, to make sure I was to forgetting any worthy contenders. As is par for the course, American bias abounds.

Agreed. To me, Jeopardy is the Alpha and Omega of game shows. It's nice to have a show that celebrates intelligence. The more "modern" game shows seem to be more about gimmicks and fancy sets than about contestants with any actual skill.

Eh, not the same. For 1, I've been out of High School for about 10 years now. And Wrestling.. fake, and evenly matched.

Gladiators = Nerdo string beans getting beat up by huge body builders. Good times.

Yes, professional wrestling is choreographed. But that's a weak argument against it, and I wish people'd come up with a better critique/complaint about it (even if it were just that it rubbed them the wrong way or held no interest for them).

Preferred Game show evolution :

(not listed but..) The Million Dollar Pyramid ---> I have no recollection of this show but I've been told that I would throw a fit if I missed it.

Price is Right ---> Ooooh purdy colours.

Family Feud ----> I would seriously watch this with mom and dad, just to see who beat who.

The wheel of fortune ---> 1st game show I'd watch alone vs the contestants.

Jeopardy---> Just knowing a handful in a show made me feel smart. Beating a contestant to the punch was extacy.

I thought Family Feud was so great because it wasn't about knowing answers, but speculating what random surveyed people would say. There's no right or wrong answer to "Things you bring to a picnic" but there's a skill to guessing what the most popular answer would be. While I love trivia and general knowledge, that was a unique idea.

PS I still haven't voted yet.

I've watched that show, and yes, there is. It can be sad at times.

That was the best part of it, it truly was a family show. I could usually beat my mom at guessing but rarely my dad. He was just too good at predicting popular responses. Drew Carey hosted this show for a while, now he's at the Price is Right. LOL he is going backwards through my list.... I wonder if he'll bring back the pyramid ???
