  1. Was well chuffed when I saw your choices KoS. Mainly because I thought I was the only Pixies fan who absolutely adores the song 'Alec Eiffel'. Alec Eiffel stands in the arrrrrchway Keeping low doesn't make no sense.... Still gonna have to go for Monkey Gone to Heaven though I think. Geez, tough one.
  2. Talking about revenge movies, has anyone heard anything about 'Bully'? Starring Brad Renfro, etc..... Saw a trailer, looks fairly good.
  3. My girlfriend was reading over my shoulder when I first read this post and declared, "Not very good at cooking steak". Cheers IC, here's one I owe you, hehe. :D
  4. Not the best Nazi. Surely Russell Crowe from 'Romper Stomper' would be a closer fight. Never mess with a man who has been in an arena with 2 tigers.
  5. Call me by various insults. Go ahead I care not but persoanlly I go for CDs. There is a CD vs Vinyl debate that will always exist but I don't think they have to be polar opposites. Like Science and Religion, only ignorance sees these as strict oppositions Vinyl definitely brings with it a higher collecting power, generally cooler sleeves and a sense of pride, but CDs have lasting power in its defence. Personally I want to be able to listen to my CDs in 30 years time with the same quality as now. Also, can you burn Vinyl? (Warning! Retorical question!) V-Junkies I respect you but although an obsessive music collector and left-of-mainstream follower, you will generally find me pressing play rather than placing a needle.
  6. I'm shaking just thinking about it. Can't wait.
  7. Make that excursion Junkerseed, it's a damn fine movie. Can't believe I missed Laagan, I'm still kicking myself.
  8. Another personal dance fave, '1st man in space' by All Seeing I. I was the 1st man is space on our street I had to leave the wife and kids behind It was a chance I could not pass up on It was the journey of a lifetime.... 9. Just had a thought. As most of the songs are personal ones, I'll post my fave personal song that I feel relates. It's a bit of a newbie, 'Rockstar' by Major Matt Mason USA (leader of the new Anti-Folk genre in NY). Just because you passed the pitcher I thought I had to drink Just because you dropped the anchor I thought I had to sink Just because you thought I was someone else I thought thats who I should be Just because you said you knew me I thought you knew me Everybody looks like somebody But nobody I know Everywhere I think of going Is somewhere I don't go Every time I'm thinking I'm thinking I'm thinking that you knew That there's nothing else to do So I think I'm leaving you Learning to lie to myself I'm thinking about my health I'm wondering where you are and I'm thinking I don't wanna be a rockstar any more I don't wanna be a rockstar Just because you took my picture I thought I was a star Just because you gave me candy I got inside your car And every single day the sun went down I thought it went down on me And when I got up I was shit outta luck And everything I do to remember Is making me forget Every lie I say to get by No longer makes me upset The brighter you make that birthday cake The darker it seems to get And all of the wind that fills my sails Just blows right through me I think I'm in love with myself I'm not who I thought I was I'm stoned and I'm watching TV And I'm thinking I don't wanna be a rockstar any more I don't wanna be a rockstar It can be found at Audiogalaxy if anyone is interested. If not, hey, your loss.
  10. Man this is a difficult one, but probably 'Monkey Gone to Heaven' by the Pixies. If the man is 5 Then the man is 5 Then the Devil is 6 Then the Devil is 6 Then the Devil is 6 And if the Devil is 6, then God is 7 Then God is 7 This monkey's gone to heaven >cue guitar solo Pixies are great, but this song probably is their most defining moment.
  11. Sccooobbbyyyy doooobbbbyyyy dddoooooo Personally I can't wait :ill: :ill: :ill:
  12. Junkerseed, you seem pretty up on some pretty obscure new movies. Have you seen 'The Son's Room (La Stanza Del Figlio)' by Italian director Nanni Moretti (Aprile, Dear Diary, etc)? Went to see it about a month back in my local independent and was definitely one of my fave films of this year. What is up for best foreign film? If that one isn't, it sure should be.
  13. King of Comedy. Now THAT is a movie. I love the bit where Pupkin turns up at Jerry Lewis' house with a suitcase and his girlfriend in tow and Jerry Lewis comes back in tiny shorts and golf club and is pissed. Hehe, love that movie.
  14. Cheers very much, I'll have to look round for a guitar shop but if I find one, at least I'll know where to start. As for the "PICK", personally I swear by it right now. As a male who likes to keep his fingernails cut right to the cuticle, I find finger picking a little too labouress and so use a plectrum. When I get better I might see about stopping and becoming one of those obvious guitarists where one hands fingernails are short, and the other long.
  15. Chief knows his stuff. I started with a steel-stringed electric. It is hurting less now that I've fought through the initial pain barrier, but before that I did have to stop after about half an hour coz otherwise my fingers would have started blistering. It is worth it though, I wasn't particularly impressed by th esound of the nylon strings and now my fingers are callused nicely, I can play for hours at a time. Wahay! Can you recommend a good training amp and electric Chief, not too expensive but not shit either?
  16. Nice list KoS, glad someone has finally mentioned the Utah Saints, I love those guys. As for fave dance track, I'd be tempted to go for Voodoo People by Prodigy or Sick by the Utah Saints, love it.
  17. KoS, if you manage to get some Bionic or McLusky I'm interested in what you think. As for not hearing about them, I wouldn't worry, I sorta stumbled across 'em by accident. They don't exactly get played on Radio One a lot. Original material, listen to the streets, lock down your aerial...
  18. I mean that I'm not finding power chords easy on my acoustic, the shapes easy but the sound not particularly good. I think I'm by far the most inexperienced guitarist in here, sdo please pardon my ignorance. Can anyone recommend a good training amp? I do agree that Nirvana is easy for experienced guitarists, but as someone not very good it's good stuff to start with. Cheers y'all, catch ya later.
  19. 'Fraid not, I'm an English boy. I take it your fingers are pretty f**ked up then BCSlapaho. If I need some tips then I'll come to you. Actually, one song I'm having difficulty with the strum pattern for. It's 'On a plain' by Nirvana. Got the chords but the strum pattern I have not got. Any ideas?
  20. That'd be the wonderful Tracy Marauder, about how thery would argue about the share of rent and housework he should do around the house. Okay question: What does the large white sticker Kurt had on his most famous guitar say? What's your fave song by the way? Difficult I know but just have a stab at it.
  21. I was gonna see Hives but they sold out so quickly, ah well. A couple of debuts I think you'd love KOS (if ya got no money I do suspect you might have a file-sharing program, no?). Bionic - Bionic (stand out tracks: Little Nixon, Mission, Peavey Youth) McLusky - My Pain and Sadness is More Sad and Painful than yours (Irish I believe!) (standout tracks: Rice is nice, When they come tell them no, You are my sun) Both very rocky, very cool, I reckon you'd like 'em. Happy hunting!
  22. Sorry, I'm not really expressing myself particularly well today. Personally I adore Empire of the Sun. My first act of finding the wonders of music file-sharing was to download Suo Gan from the film, which incidentally I found out later is actually a Christmas song. Scorcese is fantastic, apart from the slightly disappointing 'Raging Bull'. Kubrick is good as well, although don't really know his stuff as well as other directors. The Coens are probably my first choice, and after seeing 'Man Who Wasn't There' for the 2nd time yesterday, I can only say that their movies get even better with age. Peace out.
  23. Hey def, I'm mainly learning on acoustic right now, it is pretty difficult, power chords especially. I'm gonna see if I can pick up a cheap amp and annoy my housemates next year. What sort of stuff do you play def?
  24. The Hives album is amazing, they deserve the hype. I kinda like the Soulwax album but know what you mean about the lack of rock. Not to worry KOS, I'll give you a full update on the new material when I hear it. Are they touring anywhere near you? Little old now, but I loved My Vitriol's debut, Fine Lines. Can't wait for some new stuff from them.
  25. Actually I did know that. I also know Kurt used to dye his hair red using sugary drink powder stuff instead of proper dye. We should have a little competition, see who is the saddest of us both. P.S That's gonna be a rocking tattoo.
