  1. M. Night Shyamalan to Revive 'Tales From the Crypt' The show, which will feature stories culled from the long-running, gory E.C. Comics series as well as new, original stories, will premiere in the fall. It leads a new two-hour block of horror television on the channel. "To be part of such a beloved brand like Tales From the Crypt, something I grew up watching, and to also have the chance to push the boundaries of genre television as a whole, is an inspiring opportunity that I can't wait to dive into," Shyamalan said in a statement. TNT has yet to announce what other shows will populate its horror block. The Sixth Sense and Visit director's most recent foray into television was producing the Fox sci-fi/mystery miniseries Wayward Pines, which, Variety reports, has been renewed for a second season. He directed one episode of the show. Other than that, Shyamalan's only other dalliance with television was playing himself on an episode of Entourage. Tales From the Crypt premiered on HBO as a half-hour series in June 1989 and ran through the summer of 1996. Viewers embraced it immediately, in part, because of the wide array of actors it featured, with a different cast appearing in each episode. The original run of the series featured appearances by Brad Pitt, Isabella Rossellini, Don Rickles, Dan Aykroyd, Roger Daltrey, Tim Roth and many others. Additionally, Michael J. Fox, Kyle MacLachlan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Hanks and others directed episodes of the series. Although it never won an Emmy, some of the show's guest actors were nominated. Kirk Douglas, Tim Curry and William Hickey all received nods over the years, in addition to nominations in technical categories. (source) My IMMEDIATE, visceral reaction to M. Night getting his hands on this
  2. HBO’s Michael Lombardo Takes The Hit For True Detective Season 2 (source) Gave up on it after one episode and now that's looking like it was a good idea.
  3. I love these three together! Now I really want some Popeyes...
  4. Seeing it at the theater was worth it! The crowd was hyped and would get really excited every time a beloved character would appear or they'd reference something from the series. My concern with this version being set in Victorian times was that it would somehow lose the tone of the series, which is one of my favorite things about it. But those fears were unfounded. It felt like a fresh take on the show I know and love. It had the same great blend of humor and drama. And was surprisingly scary at certain parts! Before it started, Steven Moffat gave a tour of 221B Baker Street and showed all the little details they added from the books. And after the movie there was a making-of featurette with cast interviews that was cool too! I had a really great time with the whole thing!
  5. I binged Netflix's Making a Murderer. The power of editing in a documentary can be a scary thing sometimes.
  6. Yes! NZA and I are seeing it at an AMC tomorrow night. SO HYPED!
  7. I had a pretty good time at the movies this year! Some highlights for me were (in no particular order): -Mad Max -The Martian -Inside Out -Jurassic World -Spotlight -Trainwreck (love Amy Schumer and Bill Hader!) -Star Wars -Avengers
  8. Damn. I'm surprised how emotional just seeing the Fuller House set made me. Full House was my childhood, man. Just hearing DJ referred to as "Deej" made me feel like a kid again. I really hope this show isn't terrible.
  9. Well now I feel like an asshole! Still kinda wanna see it tho....
  10. Did comic/sci-fi trailers used to rely so heavily on a particular song before Guardians of the Galaxy, or is that movie to blame? I feel like since then it's been Salt-n-Pepa in the Deadpool trailer, Run DMC in the TMNT trailer, etc. Seems like it's more gimmicky than it used to be. Although starting a trailer with Simon Pegg is always a good idea!
  11. I would have LOVED some insight on Ledger's process. It's still my favorite non-Hamill Joker to date. Nicholson's is a close second and I wish I could've seen his preparation. One of my favorite behind-the-scenes clips is of him
  12. THANK YOU!! Still my biggest pet peeve... So I watched the trailer twice now and here's a list of things I ain't mad at: The shellraiser launching manhole covers, Laura Linney (cause she's awesome and ups the acting caliber a bit), Bebop and Rocksteady, Casey Jones (Amell seems super charming). That's pretty much it. I love Bebop and Rocksteady's design, but does anyone else think they don't look as realistic as the turtles? Particularly Rocksteady...CGI just not looking proper. It's probably unfair to judge from screencaps. Hopefully they'll look great on the big screen because I'm sure they're the saving grace of the entire movie.
  13. Yeah Melissa Rosenberg was given the unfortunate task of trying to turn the Twilight books into watchable movies. To be fair, I don't think that's a task anyone could've accomplished!! She was also a producer on Dexter, mostly during the good seasons. It looks like Scott Buck is all over the place on Dexter, but he did work on the Trinity season, so we know he can do great things! Marvel/Netflix is on such a roll here, I doubt they'd do anything to fuck it up now!
  14. Cause of death still hasn't been confirmed, but it's safe to say everyone's assuming OD. I hate when things like this happen and people online make really shitty comments about someone deserving it, or not feeling badly about it because they were an addict. I hope the people being so cold never struggle with addiction or have to watch a loved one battle with it. It's such a difficult, horribly sad thing...RIP Scott Weiland!
  15. Looking forward to this! I haven't read much about Luke Cage (yet), besides a little in Alias, but I'm really enjoying Mike Colter in Jessica Jones! He's just so damn likable. I think he can definitely carry a show! And as always, suggestions for what to read are welcome!
  16. Uggghhhh. I am SO OVER Zack Snyder. He hasn't made a decent movie since Watchmen. Looking at his IMDB page is depressing as hell. He has his hands all over nearly everything DC is doing (producing some, directing others). Wonder Woman, Justice League, Flash, Aquaman. Man of Steel was GARBAGE. Why is this happening?
  17. I've always kept things in the packaging. Partly so the value didn't depreciate (even though I don't really plan on selling anything) and partly to keep them from being chewed by animals or otherwise damaged. It wasn't until I met Nick that I finally took a toy out of its packaging. He convinced me to take my Mystic Donatello out of the plastic. It felt so weird and I made a huge production of the whole thing! Haha! But I suppose it is pretty cool to actually be able to hold it and use the different accessories...
  18. Seeing Mads smiling like that is very disconcerting. He's so good at being stoic and evil, it's weird to see him looking genuinely happy. But yes...that cast sounds amazing! I especially adore Rachel McAdams and Tilda Swinton.
  19. Children of Immigrant Parents React to Poignant Episode of Aziz Ansari’s Master of None I hadn't heard of this show until seeing the thread this morning. Then a friend posted this article on FB. I saw Aziz do stand up a few years ago and found him mildly funny (and he wasn't my fave on Parks and Rec), but his show looks like it's tackling really relevant subjects, especially with all that's been going on around the world lately.
  20. Gonna check out both these documentaries when I have time!! Meanwhile, I'm super excited my Michelangelo Minimates came in the mail! He's no Donatello, but he came with Ice Cream Kitty!! I also love his pizza and sewer grate accessories. When they say mini, they mean it. He's only a couple inches tall, but still awesome! This will hold me over until the Ice Cream Kitty/Spike/Dr. Cluckingsworth 3-pack goes on sale!
  21. A reporter asked Daniel Craig and the cast of Spectre if they thought there could ever be a female Bond. Daniel's response: "Sure, yeah, definitely. I think it’s a great idea. If it works it works," he says. "That’s the great thing about film is it’s all about imagination so of course it could happen. Not that’s it a huge push, it’s just that anything’s possible." The others were less encouraging. Christoph Waltz said this: "[i think it's] complete and utter nonsense. I think there should be great parts for women, I do think that. I just think that James Bond is not one of them... I think that if a woman would play James Bond, it wouldn’t be James Bond. Can you do it? Of course you can, you can do anything, but does it make sense? Not one bit." What do you guys think? Personally, I'd love to see Idris in the role, at least for the next few films!
  22. WHAT DO YOUR SLEEPING HABITS SAY ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP?
  23. Damn I would love to have box sets of the new series but do I get them now or wait for a complete set once the show ends? Ahh! The episodes are pretty easy to find now, so waiting wouldn't be the worst thing. I'm just hoping the show goes on a while, so it may be years before I own it! Also, I have the Party Wagon and it's one of my prized possessions.
  24. Man, she does look great! That dress is doing her all kinds of favors. Even at her age, she'd still make a better April than Megan Fox... Agreed with your last sentence there as well! If only...
