  1. I wonder what race Facebook would infer that I am. And since they're so wrapped up in stereotypes, you'd confuse the hell out of them, NZA!
  2. I didn't know there was a thread for this! I've been meaning to share this sketch from SNL where Ariana Grande does impressions of other singers. I'm not a fan of her music but there's no denying she's crazy talented (check out too, if you haven't already!) Bruno Mars also did this sort of sketch and it made me a fan. NZA, you might appreciate his MJ at the end!
  3. Alden was a highlight in an otherwise dull Hail, Caesar!. Wouldn't mind seeing him get this. Also, I'm still in shock that I actually kinda care about Star Wars now...
  4. The international trailer is out and it's a little different! I don't know why they thought we didn't need that much Hemsworth domestically.
  5. My thoughts exactly! He's old news, but I'm a true crime buff so this could be good!
  6. Oh, it's a documentary!! I was fascinated by that news story, I'm excited for this!!
  7. Being the wannabe amateur cryptozoologist that I am, I would watch the SHIT out of a Bigfoot movie. And not a comedy like Harry and the Hendersons. It would be cool if it was a horror film! I'd also love love love a Cthulhu movie as long as the CGI was on point!
  8. I'm still hyped about the casting. I think they're four of the best comedic actresses out there!! Kate is my shit. I adore her, but from what little we got here (the goggles, the Pringles, etc.) she seems like a caricature more than a character. I hope there's more to her than just funny outfits and facial expressions.
  9. I think the director (Paul Feig) and writer (Katie Dippold) have been pretty clear that this is a reboot and not a sequel. I just read this in Gizmodo earlier today: I think the stuff at the beginning of the trailer was just a nod to the original, but it really does make it look like a sequel to those who haven't been following the production since its inception! Seems like this movie is gonna have a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" thing going when it comes to including anything about the original movies.
  10. I thought the SAME THING! That was disappointing. I have a feeling she's gonna steal this, though. I haven't enjoyed SNL in years, but she's been the funniest thing on it for a while now. And she's also the only part of the trailer that actually made me laugh...
  11. The trailer is here (and it's pretty spoilery)! What do we think?
  12. Totally unrelated, but I think of this every time I see Philosoraptor now!
  13. So are we organizing a watch party for this, OR WHAT.
  14. I remember seeing the trailer for this at the theater and it freaked out everyone in the audience! I haven't seen a decent horror movie in a long time. I'll have to check this one out!
  15. Mullets galore! Also...kinda wanna watch it...
  16. In an effort to watch as many Best Pic nominees as I can before the Oscars (they're my Super Bowl!), I finally caught Room yesterday. The movie is nominated, as is Brie Larson for her role as a mom who had a child while being held captive in a shed for seven years. This is one of those movies that is really, really good but just brutal to watch. I haven't cried that much (or that hard!) at the movies in a long time! Brie was phenomenal, and I'll be disappointed if she doesn't get the win here, but even more impressive was the kid, Jacob Tremblay. I'm actually surprised he didn't receive a nomination for this role! It's some of the best child acting I've ever seen. Just absolutely heartbreaking. This kid had me bawling with just a subtle change in expression. Such a powerful performance! So, yeah...not a fun film by any means but very impressive and definitely worth a watch!
  17. The Coen brothers have had the most amazing career! It seems like all their films are love letters to different genres. They've gotten to experiment and have fun and it works more often than not. This movie isn't a standout for them but it's also not terrible. It could definitely be a fun rental! I might even watch it again just for the handful of scenes that had me dying of laughter. But it'll be nice to fast forward through some of the other bits!
  18. The premise of this sounds interesting. I'd give it a shot! Oh wow, I didn't recognize Ray Romano at first! Man, I hated his sitcom but I've enjoyed his work since then. Also...70s fashion was pretty spectacular...
  19. I took my mom to see Hail, Caesar! on Friday and, being a big Coen brothers fan, I was really hyped for it. Alas, I found it pretty disappointing... I felt like there was about 30 minutes worth of story, and a handful of really hilarious scenes. But it was strung together with superfluous story lines and far too many jokes that fell flat. Entire characters could've (and probably should've) been eliminated. Channing Tatum needs to stick to comedies like this. He's really got the chops for it (and his dance skills felt very old Hollywood). He was, by far, the best thing about the movie (and in a film that also stars George Clooney, Josh Brolin and Tilda Swinton, that's somewhat disturbing).
  20. This would be a useful thing for me to do with movies/tv shows/books/comic books (at first I typed "boobs" instead of books and I'm almost sorry I caught it). Maybe I'll start a thread for those things. I wish I had a backlog of video games to play. I HATE that I get severe motion sickness from all 3D games. Then again, Nick did just get an NES Everdrive for his birthday so maybe he can help me find 2D games to play! *nudge*
  21. Loved The Martian but agree completely. I was bummed that it was nominated for the Globe in that category. Comedies that never have a shot at a big award get gypped when lesser dramas are nominated as comedies...In this case, Trainwreck should've taken it!
