@Jax Frankly I think there are almost no secerts people keep just to themselves, there's a reason that secerts are so hard to keep, someone always knows, and I belive there is always an urge to tell people(this is both from my personal life and the lives of countless people I've known over the years) to me it has always seemed likely that peter would want someone to confide in, and as I said before, when we started reading the comic he had that, and in fact he was in college at the very least I believe when we were old enough to begin so we never really got the orginal in high school peter parkers(unless you want to tell me that you read through 20 years of spider man before you started) so I dont' think we've ever read support system less peter(and yes I'm sure there were plenty of arc's about it over the years but nothing long term that I know about) he's always had friends, and family and people he confided in who knew his secert. Also your meta gaming, it's easy to say he should know not to tell people and not to tell his friend and shit abut he's a kid, and very single kid i know(myself included btw) is stuipd at that age, you just dont' have the experience you have now, frankly I always felt peter was super well adjusted for it in highschool, I would have been a wreck and I'm sure so would have all of us been. You can't look at high school peter though the eyes of an adult(and frankly I want to see how well you react even now to gaining super powers and having your life turn upside down that you make the perfect choices.) Also I never said he needed a bunch of friends that know who he is, but a couple or even just one isn't a bad thing, it's proabbly a good thing, it gives him some grounding and an outside look at his life. I think early ults. was pretty good at that, yes people like fury and the x-men knew which is fine(good luck keeping secerts from pychics) but in his normal life? who knew outside of MJ? he kept it from his aunt may and some of his foes knew, which always makes for an intriguing angle. I think in the end we kinda want the same peter, just on different ends of the specterm. Oh and yes it very much seemed like your posts were in response to things I had posted(and I"m not the only one who thought that.)

I wrote the fact that so many people know he's spidy in ults is one thing I kinda liked cause it showed how hard it would be to really be able to keep that kind of secert from people like Fury and such and I think peter needs some kind of outlet, someone to tell, or you'd go completely crazy, MJ being his best friend made it a perfect fit(and fuck them for breaking up him and kitty) now the fact that it wasn't going to win any prizes is my fault I admit, the fact that you have less ablitly to comprehend is your. Also being in a realtionship in the middle of life has to some extant become a normal part of the spidy mythos(and I do agree that MJ as a supermodel was always been a bit strange) Frankly I think the disconnect here is that I think peter can find some happiness in the middle of all the shit that is his life, most of us are happy dispite the huge crap we go through, the only other option is him sliding into a depression all the fucking time and becoming a very dark character(and frankly emo). 2. he's pretty much always had a support system(at least from where we would have been reading, I'd have to look to see what he did very early on) His aunt may, harry, the various people at the bugle, in his super hero life you have people like the black cat, johnny storm and various others. I'll be honest either you havn't read the comic because you think he's some crazy depressive loner cutting himself(yest I'm overstating my point before you bitch about that) but he's always had friends, he's always tried to look at the good things in his life and he's always tried to stay positive(hence his rep for wisecracking, well that and because it's a way to handle the fear) or you think that any happiness in his life means you want to be him. I have always felt balance is a large part of who spider man, he's supposed to be us, the everyman, and that means some support system and happiness in his life, this isn't Batman.

I never said that peter should be happy and nothing go wrong in his life as he skips through it, Nick hit it on the head, Spider-man works so well because he's the opp. of DC heros(Icon and symbols vs. real people so to speak) Batman isn't a person, he's Bat-man, Spider man is peter parker and he's the everyman, he's what we would be if we got super powers(we'd fuck up alot) and that only works if he has as strong supporting cast who happen to be his friends and family, Dark peter is cool.. for about 1 or 2 issues, after that I want regular peter(plus super dark peter isn't going to be wisecraking while fighting, a spider-man trade mark) leave the brooding to batman and daredevil. 3. @jza and baytor... you can't both have seen the same spiderman3 and I want to see your version, it was a complete abortion of what it could of been, the Venom arc needed to be done over 2 films(the first one he gets the suit, fights a villian and venom gets made at the very very end leaving a whole movie of venom goodness) you can Nick was nitpicking but he's right and those things ended up destorying what could have been a very good film. 4. That idea for a new film series makes me want to claw my eyeballs out and thats coming form someone who enjoyed smallville(the first few seasons anyway) in fact that might just work if your doing a tv series, also the film needs a lot of swinging around town and mid air fights and you proabbly lose that on that budget. As to peter in highschool again... I think the character works very well in that seting and I think it speaks to all of us there, We all remember going through that awkard phase where nothing seemed to go right and we felt out of place, It's something adults remember and those in highschool are going though so it speaks to a pretty wide audiance and it's proabbly better for a couple of films before they move away from it(though the villian should not be a high school kid and should not be venom in high school) Also I think someone said it best when they should do the origin through some very limited flashbacks and start off with him having been spiderman for a bit.

Hmm... thats a good point, what would you make A2 and 3 about? Another crazy company with mercs coming to destroy the forest and get the miniral? See what might work would be to have maybe some humans try to live there, and maybe some Navi do to them what the guys in the first movie tried to do to the Navi thus scott is caught by the fact he used to be Human and then brings them together to face a third party threat? The movie simply does not lend itself well to making more and he did little to really set up and explore the greater universe(things that movies like star wars did so well, I wanted to see stuff off camera, not really so with Avatar.) Has he said anything about what a possible squeal for avatar would be about?

I asked for venom, not that piece of shit that was spider man 3, I agree, if he didn't want to do it then he shouldn't have but thats another story. I think they should look at casting an unknown and really going for the peter parker look, that said I'll wait and see before passing judgement as I never thought batman would get a good movie again. One thing I wish(it'll never happen) is that marvel would get the rights back so it's stuidos would make the film since it looks like they will be 3 for 3 as of this summer and their movies so far have been awesome. Finally saw DOA this past weekend and I must say that it may be the best one of these movies, it completely doesn't take itself seriously at all, they at least try to keep to the fighting styles and it's no crazy extra plot for the movie, it's mostly a fighting tournement(though they do fuck up some characters) but basicly it's a fun watch and you see hot chicks wearing very little, must watch imo. BTW WTF is up with finding the chick with the smallest chests to play the chicks who are supposed to be the most stacked? time to get DOA beach vollyball again!

The next flick he's supposed to want to do is battle angel alita. Ok my thoughts on this flim. First off the effects are mind blowing amazing and I'll be honest I masterbated while watching it in the theater(pee wee would have been proud!) 2. I can't have been the only person who was hoping they'd wipe out the picture perfect early american tride off the face of pandora. 3. This might be the most racist movie I have seen and you can ask nick, for me to say something means it was pretty bad. 4. I love and I mean love the villian, Col. Duesbag, he's easily the most amazing character ever and I'm sad that my father could not have been more like him. He was so over the top that he honestly makes believe that Camern was trolling everyone about the movies message. He's simply the epitome of both the cartoon evil villian and the worlds biggest badass. 5. There are alot of neat things in the movie, the usb hookup to wildlife thing while a bit woonky was neat and I wish they had done more with it(the sex sence would have been a great place to use it) and the whole pair bonding thing between hunters and their mounts(which propmtly get tossed out the window but meh) was also neat. 6. The ariel fight was cool but some pointless and silly deaths, I hated, and I mean hated the ground battle, the one place where the advantages of the Navi can compete with mondern weapons and they toss it all away to send in calvary in a forest into a meatgrinder >< my god that was the worst part of the movie in terms of the combat(and did anyone else thing the horse on fire running by was just over the top strange?). Dispite the fact I thought the whole white guy fantasy message was silly I enjoyed the movie, it had alot of fun and cool moments and is so jaw dropping that it makes up for the weak parts(pretty much the entire story). Really this movie doesn't work at all unless it looks this retarded good and man does it ever deliver on that, I need to watch this again but high as hell This gives me mad hope that Battle Angel will look as good as it needs to.

There's a really good article on wired about the whole duke forever thing, but one thing that every new person seemed to say was that the game was always kick ass and could have been released if they just buckled down and got it done. They redid that game so many times and on several different engines too.

The soul rever stuff was mostly in the planning stages, not sure that very much got put into the game, but it was a completely different story and I personally I think the story is much better due to the changes, but you do see some of the planned stuff towards the end of SR 1 in the different time portals, thats all planned stuff. I have to say dante that while I think some of that is shit and I understand some of it(except yelling, I personally never stand for that shit) it isn't much different then what people say on xbox live and other shit, that amount of shit talking that goes on or yelling at someone you think is the problem never seems to change, except it proabbly feels more personal when it's your guild yelling at you since your more likely to consider them friends then XXcumeaterkillerXX on xbox live. Also you said that you would 'tch' a warrior if he could hold agro or a healer who couldn't watch their threat(btw something is very very very wrong with the tank if heals are pulling.) since those are the basics, I'd guess that having rep(thats just for the shoulder enchant though) and enchants are looked at the same way, I know I do that but I play at a very high level where I try to squeeze out each last dps and I expect those around to do the same. but I think you let someone know upfront about shit like that not take them along and then yell at them or not give them gear because of it.

wow is a game, a social network of friends and a hobby all rolled into one, in many ways it's a club, if you removed any of those ascpets people don't spend the time in there. Everyone who has a really strong hobby puts hours and hours into, and you put tons of hours into games(and you get to play at work for instance, I don't) what I don't get is how you bust my chops for the hours I put in(btw when was the last time I missed a party?) but not once have I seen you give george shit for the hours he puts in(and he puts more hours in games then I do) you say I'm buriing my social life, but I'll tell you I'm spending time with my friends(some of whom I've know for 5 years now, and I've visited and hung out with). Personally I also have less of a need to go out, I did that all in my early 20's(and I went out alot) and I'm getting married next year so hittting the town is much less important to me then it used to be and I enjoy staying at home. can wow be additicve? of course, but clubs, social groups, games and shit always are, wow seems bad sometimes because it combines them(and most people in my guild for instance, are married, have kids, hold down full time jobs or are in school doing well) I would give a fuck you got on people who spend a ton of time on their hobbies, or in a club or say an online social club(hi hondos!) but you seem to harp on wow more then any of those by far. Do you really feel that those of us who play wow would see you more if we didn't? Like I honestly don't get where you come from. This maybe be bullshit rationliaztion to you and I may be weak willed(hi lets be more insulting btw) but I have a good time with my friends, I party decently at this point, I hold down a full time job, take some classes on the side and I'm getting married next year to a wonderfull women... man maybe more people should be addicted to shit.

Why less? I don't even use the umd drive in my regular psp, easier to buy the game and put them on a memory card. Seriously people get really out of wack over that(I used to) but dling more off steam and watching george do so I'm not so gun ho about physical products anymore(plus at some point it will lower prices, you don't have the mark up needed for retail so some company will try to lower their prices to better compet with the big boys.) I havn't yet, I like the idea behind it(yes I've come around to downloading games) but I think it might be too soon for something like this, but hacked this thing would be fantastic. Once they get around to hacking it I'll proabbly go pick one up. But you are right, This was a tremondous game when it came out and influenced so much that came after but it doesn't seem to get as much play as many other influencal games(something I think mario 64 gets as well.) do we even have a thread about these kinds of games? the ones that lay the ground work for so much after it?
