(Or at least any of their songs that have been posted in this thread) I mean they have good vocals and the music is competently played as well as fairly technical. The lyrics are lame but I can say the same thing about Bohemian Rhapsody. The reason most people seem to hate Journey is "it's old and popular so I'm too cool for it." And often times people who claim Journey is terrible music love the shit out of some far worse band without the slightest hint of irony. Like Britney Spear's singing voice, Lady Gaga's horrible electronic synthesized shit (admittedly I'm harder on her because I know she can play actual music), Coolio's sleepy mumbling rhymes, or anything on a Ke$ha album. So when I posted that atrocious techno music earlier it was just bad bad bad horrible music, but for some imperceptible reason I go "this is terrible" but listen to the whole song like 3 times in a row. I have the same acute sense of indifference about you but I recognize there's a difference between music I do not like and music that is bad.
