Mr. Hakujin
Movie theater "butter" on the popcorn is topnotch snacking, my friends. Add an Icee and prepare to have your tastebuds go on a magical journey in which the universe will fold in on itself and do a twirl. Also... Panch, avoid pg. 1 of this thread. I didn't and it gave me flashbacks like I was in 'Nam.
amynicole
Now you have me craving a slurpie and popcorn. Sigh. Fried pickles are everywhere down here. Fried green beans is becoming more common too. Fried squash, fried okra, fried corn on the cob, onion rings, what veggies dont we fry? State fair is awesome, they have fried candy bars, fried coca cola, and I had a wonderful fried pecan praline. Now I just want to try deep fried bacon.
Thelogan
They have deep fried salad there, it's a healthy alternative for you folks who are concerned.
MetalHeart
Mmmmmmmmmm... deep fried bacon! That sounds delish!
TulipO
Lorelei, isn't Britain the home of the deep fried Mars Bar? That being said, I love movie theater "butter." Its ridiculously, terrible and delicious. Also since I average about one theater movie every 2 months, I can justify eating it Paired with a cherry coke and I can even put up with the bullshit movies they've been putting out lately. I also like fake bacon bits. I can't explain it. Edited September 9, 2011 by TulipO
the division of joy
Scotland are all over the deep fried mars bar, and deep fried anything really. *feels arteries harden*
amynicole
I just discovered that in some countries you buy milk in a bag. Wtf? I would spill the whole damn thing every time.
FireDownBelow
Oh yeah, and in a lot of countries milk and eggs aren't refrigerated
the division of joy
Refrigerating eggs is just wrong.
amynicole
Why?
the division of joy
They go all watery by comparison to when they're left out at ambient temperature. All the eggs in markets here are on shelves.
amynicole
I didn't notice a difference. We ate eggs fresh from under the hen when I was little at my mammy and papa's house. I spent more time out there than I did at my house. But I was a kid. And I was happy to have something other than oatmeal to be honest. I couldn't do it now, the thought grosses me out. Doesn't seem sanitary.
the division of joy
Guess its what we're used to I guess. But it doesn't seem too uncommon.
Thrizzle
OUR eggs need to be refrigerated, because the FDA requires them to be refrigerated ASAP. Once they have been refrigerated, it's dangerous to leave them out for more than a few hours. They'll sweat and grow bacteria. Keep in mind that refrigerators, or "ice boxes", have only been commonplace in Ireland since 1997. They are still distrustful of anything of unnatural "witchy" temperature. the division of joy
I was reading about why the FDA does that. Seemingly they're power washed which utterly fucks the shell of the egg. Were you to buy fresh eggs from a farm, you'd likely be able to keep them out for a while.
Thrizzle
Well, yeah. They aren't a dairy product, they stay perfectly fine underneath the toasty buttholes of chickens. It makes sense. But Americans shouldn't try it, because our eggs really do need to be refrigerated.
the division of joy
Silly americans with their puny eggs...
Thrizzle
Man, nothing beats a natural, wholesome american egg. I'm getting hungry just looking at it!
the division of joy
Man, I've only recently come around to the idea of eggs being tasty after years of not liking the concept of them. That is deeply offputting.
