Reverend Jax
This was a game I used to play at a Rush thread I used to frequent. You state some lyrics without the name of the song or artist. Someone has to guess it and then post their own lyrics. Example: Post: "Since you've gone I'm been lost without a trace. I dream at night I can only see your face." Reply: 'Every Breathe You Take' by the Police That reply would also be followed by a new set of lyrics. Now, on my Rush thread, it was only Rush songs and sense we were all Rush freaks, any song was fair game. In this one however, try to keep it relatively unobsurse. Mostly radio singles and such. Stuff that somebody should know. I'll keep my Rush posts limited to 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Limelight' if I decide to go that way at all. I'll start it: "Half of what I say is meaningless. But I say it just to reach you, [insert name of song here]"
Take Me To Your Lizard
"Julia... Julia... Julia..." Julia, by John Lennon. New lyrics: "They found her out in the fields About a mile from home Her face was warm from the sun But her body was cold"
Reverend Jax
Herion Girl by Everclear "That car looked so tempting, so easy to drive Just like that apartment that you burglarized You started to run, but didn't get far Cause under your arm was a VCR Ho ho, not this time, my friend You'll be in lockdown by ten I'm afraid you can't talk your way out of this one, son Now four walls are your 24-hour-a-day constant companions"
Take Me To Your Lizard
Walla Walla by Offspring. "Do I wear you out? You must wonder why I'm relentless and all strung out I'm consumed by the chill of solitary" It has occured to me that there are search engines on the net that let you find lyrics. I don't know if any let you search the actual words rather than song/band name, but a search in google would surely find the song you want anyway. Only honest people on this thread! MyLeakyBucket
Something by Alanis Morrisette, can't remember which song sorry. "Are you one of the beautiful people? Is my name on the list? I wanna be one of the beautiful people I want to feel missed"
King of Snake
Guest List -Eels "I wish I had my own walkie talkie that reached to god every night" is my fave line from that, good call. "I'm the paint you tasted, when intoxicated"
Reverend Jax
Firestarter by Prodigy "I'm singing this note cause it fits in well with the chords I'm playing. I can't pretend there's any meaning here or in the things I'm saying. But I'm in tune. Right in tune. I'm in tune. And I'm gonna tune. Right in on you." Reverend Jax
Um, I didn't think this one was so hard, but either I was wrong, or people have just lost interest. Y'all need to get reaquanted with your'alls Who songs. That was 'Gettin In Tune' by The Who, off possibly one fo the most important albums in the history of guitar rock, Who's Next. I'll go with an easy one to see if interset has really been lost: "We're just two lost souls, swimming in a fish bowl, year after year." Reverend Jax
Ok, either all interest in this board has been lost or there are no Floyd fans in the audiences. Let try one last one: "Take me down to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty, oh wouldn't you please take me home" If nobody goes after this one, there is no hope. Take Me To Your Lizard
Haven't lost interest, just didn't know the lyric. Paradise City, by Guns N' Roses. "Though I know that evening's empire has returned into sand Vanished from my hand Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping"

Reverend Jax
It most be fun to try to ruin a perfectly innocently fun (or at least attempting to be fun...) game. Tuh! Ok, I'll play your game. That was '1000', by Moby. New lyrics: "I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them tumble down"
King of Snake
Tool? - Schism I think it's called? If I'm right, here's an easy one for next: "All I ever wanted, all I ever needed, is here in my arms, Words are very unnecessary, they can only do harm"
Reverend Jax
You were right on the Tool lyrics, and the song your lyrics come from is: Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode. Another easy one: I was 'round when Jesus Christ had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that Pilate washed his hands and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name But what's puzzling you, is the nature of my game I stuck around St. Petersberg, when I saw it was a time for a change Killed the Czar and his ministers, Anastasia screamed in vain
The NZA
Guess ill join in... Rolling Stones, "Sympathy for the Devil" Another easy one: "I wanna hear that funky dixieland, pretty mama, come'n take me by the hand. (By the hand, take me by the hand pretty mama, come'n dance with ya daddy all nite long...)"

Reverend Jax
Well now I know there are just lots of people who never look at this thread, becasue I know several member here know that was 'Rock Your Socks' by Tenacious D. Tuh! Anyway, next set of lyrics: Hey lady, you got the love I need Maybe more than enough Oh Darling, walk a while with me You've got so much... Many have I loved - Many times been bitten Many times I've gazed along the open road Many times I've lied, Many times I've listened Many times I've wondered how much there is to know Many dreams come true and some have silver linings I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold Mellow is the man who knows what he's been missing Many many men can't see the open road Many is a word that only leaves you guessing Guessing 'bout a thing you really ought to know, ooh! You really ought to know...
JunkerSeed
easy, over the hills and far away by led zepplin Guess I'll post what I'm hearing right now "Johnny take a walk with your sister the moon Let her pale light in to fill up your room You've been living underground Eating from a can You've been running away From what you don't understand... Love She's slippy You're sliding down She'll be there when you hit the ground"
Reverend Jax
easy, over the hills and far away by led zepplin I know. I don't like post just easy ones, but seeing as my tastes in music can be, how can I put this, so darn idiosyncratic, somethimes what seem easy to me gets me nothign but blanks stares. Anyway... Mysterious Ways by U2 "Now I`m fully grown And I know where it`s at Somehow I stayed thin While the other guys got fat All the chances that are blown And the times that I`ve been down I didn`t get to high Kept my feet on the ground Situation no win Rush for the change of atmosphere I can`t go on so I give in Gotta get myself right outta here"
Reverend Jax
That was "Ruah" by Big Audio Dynamite. "And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying? There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime." "I never said I was frightened of dying." If you can't place it, think spoken word (not singing), think British, and think drunk. Actually, it's always a good idea to think drunk! King of Snake
Well I did a search for the answer and I can safely say I'd never have gotten it. There's too many older songs on here, maybe we'd have a better chance on contempary stuff, stuff you're likely to have at least overheard on the radio or something?
The NZA
"Step out the front door, just like a ghost, into a fog, where no one notices the contrast of white on white In between the moon and you, angels get a better view, of the crumbling difference between wrong & right..." Let's see who gets it before Junkerseed.
Reverend Jax
Round here my counting Crows my previous one was "The Great Gig In The Sky" by Pink Floyd, off Dark Side of the Moon. DSOTM is not obscure, but I'll admit it wasn't very easy. Anyway, onward... And the greatest of teachers won't hesitate To leave you there, by yourself, chained to fate.
