The NZA
oh, snap Nintendo kicked off their E3 2009 press conference with the announcement of The New Super Mario Bros. Wii, afour-player co-operative take on classic 2D Mario gameplay. It was almost a perfect surprise, but close enough. The New Super Mario Bros. Wii combines the classic 2D gameplay of the original Super Mario Bros. with four-player co-operative play to create a new Mario experience. Remember watching your friends play the game on the NES? Imagine being able to join in, with a scaling screen. It's like four swords, but with 2D Mario! The New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be available this Holiday season. Ok, so we havnet seen much yet, but based on that, its hard to not get excited, no? Looking very forward to this one!
amynicole
fuck yeah. too bad it wont be out until the holidays. i cant wait!
Reverend Jax
Can the op be done online? Either way, seems like a cool campaign to play in-house with others.
The NZA
good question. no one seems to know yet, sadly. im kind of assuming, but nintendo's not excelled at online so far, so if nothing else, like you said, it should be grand when played locally. I do hope we have that option, though.
Reverend Jax
What would be cool is if we could have a campaign that if started locally, could be continued online, then back locally when I happen to be back at your place. Pie in the sky, huh?
Mr. Hakujin
Sweet! Now all I need are 3 friends. :(
The NZA
ah, mr haku - if you've got a friend code, share with the rest of the class!
Lycaon
I'm still waiting for another AMrio RPG (that I'm almost certain will never come ).
The NZA
that series is now Paper Mario, its still ongoing!
Lycaon
that series is now Paper Mario, its still ongoing! That series? You referring to the Super Mario RPG?
The NZA
yeah, Mario RPG - after square left it, Nintendo kept it going as Paper Mario. its more lighthearted, but a great series nonetheless, man.
Benz
Trailer: Coming out.. er.. Holiday season this year I think. Definitely on my wish list, looks like alot of fun! Not sure how the Wii controls would work, but apparently you can all work together on a level, pick each other up (either to help each other out or to eff each other over) Looks good so far. Penguin Mario FTW?
Mr. Hakujin
That looks awesome! I can finally appease my 8-year-old self by playing the same level at the same time w/ Mario and Luigi. Also, it appears Helicopter Head Mario is full of win.
Lycaon
Looks pretty cool.
amynicole
oh yeah, im gonna have to have that one.
Iambaytor
that series is now Paper Mario, its still ongoing! That was bullshit when Nintendo said it 8 years ago and it's still bullshit today! Just because it's also a Mario game that plays like an RPG does not mean it's a sequel.

Reverend Jax
MEH If there are no prepubescent girls with cat ears, what's the point of anything? Am I right, Alex?
The NZA
the man can have an opinion, people! im saying, it looks cool but i was a bit letdown to hear nintendo is keeping this one co-op local/offline only. they will be dragged kicking & fucking screaming into the current gen of gaming, but likely not on this system. dont worry, newt. these games are free now, remember? Newtype
If there are no prepubescent girls with cat ears, what's the point of anything? Am I right, Alex? I'll have you know that Cat Ears loli rubbing action is a far better game then 99.99% of all Wii games. Wii music was free and look how well that turned out to be. The NZA
reviews are pretty good across the board. Sen's playing this one right at a friend's house. I read you can have Luigi beat levels for you if they're too tough, showing that nintendo's kind system wasnt just theoretical. again, no online multi, but local should be fun...anyone else grabbed a copy yet? The NZA
huh, mostly good reviews, few mixed as the week goes by. anyway, shame it cant be shared, but apparently the level editor is pretty cool...here's the inevitable 1-1 remake!
