  1. The new trailer changes my expectations going into this now. No longer do I expect it to be a complete dumpster fire. I'm expecting more of an individual barrel fire, like a hobo would have under an overpass in a movie.
  2. Heh, yeah. Good for Karl. I like him, but I always thought Dominic West (McNulty from The Wire) would be a great Butcher for some reason. I guess Simon Pegg is too old now for Wee Hughie. Looked up this Jack Quaid kid and recognized him from a few things. Solid comedic actor. Also, I didn't know he was the son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, so bully for him. Maybe uncle Randy will show up in the show as a villain or outta work hero. (He's rockin' a crazy beard at the moment. Like 10x beyond what David Letterman has.)
  3. Saw the trailer for this earlier today and was very intrigued. I started watching some youtube vids of interviews from when it debuted at Sundance and Lakeith was channeling Darius--either that or Darius is base don Lakeith. Anyway, this film is written and directed by Boots Riley from The Coup, has Valkyrie, Glenn from TWD, Terry Crewes, and the Lone Ranger. How could you not want to see this movie!?!
  4. No The Wind Rises in that collection?
  5. I keep thinking I'll eventually go back and watch S2, but I just can't find the motivation. I'll definitely give Y:TLM a try if it goes to air, but I'm keeping expectations at floor level until I see a trailer.
  6. Krasinski & Blunt as Reed & Sue? Meh. F4 digital short film on SNL with the cast of The Office? Yuss!
  7. I've not read the novel, so I went into this based solely on the premise and that it was Spielberg directing. This is a movie unabashedly all about 70s/80s pop-culture nostalgia. And video games. But really, don't go in here looking for captivating characters or a super-engaging plot.(Although, I did like the main characters and the plot was okay...ish) Go to see what happens when one of the GOAT filmmakers and the man responsible for a good chunk of your childhood movie memories gets a couple hundred milly to play pop culture mash-up. It's a beautiful thing--especially in IMAX 3D.
  8. Honestly, the mechanics behind the business end of the F4 going into comic book hiatus interest me almost more than the upcoming plot/storyline for the return of the team. I don't even attempt to keep up with Marvel or DC monthly any more, so this is the first thing in years that's got me interested enough to buy a Marvel issue off the stands. I just re-read Secret Wars #9 (2016), so let me ask the current regular Marvel readers a few questions: 1. Have Ben & Johnny been around in the 616 since the end of SW2016? 2. Have the Surfer, Doom, Galactus, etc. been absent from the 616 since 2016, too? 3. Why do you think Hickman's not writing the team's return? My guess is SW#9 was his last F4 issue. It read like a farewell to those characters for him. However, as someone who is still (slowly) getting through Hickman's run on F4, I would've liked to have seen him helm their return to the 616.
  9. Right!?! It's really one of the few shoes I still watch week-to-week that's consistently good. Nevermind it being a good genre show, it's just a good show. Fuck. You mentioning the Savage Land has got me all like--six seasons and a movie! Also, now with X-MEN back in the sweet clutches of Disney/Marvel, a Madripoor storyline could work out well.
  10. I'll buy the BR eventually when it gets around $10 (or if by some miracle SOLO is awesome and reinvigorates my SW juices) if only to revisit the few good scenes and to watch the deleted scenes. *sigh* Post opening weekend me would've been psyched to read this, but I'm just burnt out on TLJ debate & analysis. I'm in the acceptance phase of mourning what Star Wars has become as of TLJ.
  11. No thrift shops or flea markets in the area really. I guess I could look at the local Goodwill though, didn't even think about them having vinyl. Next weekend meeting some friends and I'm hitting up a flea market outta town, so hopefully I'll find a good deal. New Orleans has a few vinyl shops, but they're all priced at collector's value. There's one place about a 20 minute drive from my house called "2nd & Charles" which is basically a Books-A-Million that buys-&-sells most anything collectible. I checked their vinyl collection out yesterday and it's small, but again priced comparable to or above Amazon. I'm gonna haul some toys down there next week when I'm off and see if I can get some store credit to put towards vinyl. Discogs? At the moment I'm not looking for new music on vinyl so much as stuff I really love already that I might enjoy more so via the vinyl experience. (Hopefully that didn't sound as pretentious/hipster as it felt typing.) For example, Amy Winehouse's Back to Black is a favorite of mine and it's $15 new and $13 used on AZN and at 2nd&Charles. That's looking like a good bet. I'd also like to get some classic rock like Led Zep, Stones, and Hendrix. I'm not looking to get into the original issues, I'd be okay with re-issues. So what I'm hearing from you two is the real deals are out there "in the wild" then, huh? No decent online retailer past Almighty AZN? Question for all the vinyl collectors/aficionados here: what is your budget for a "good deal" on a new album, like newly released music in the plastic wrap new. How much "new music" are you buying on vinyl? I'm seeing $20-$25 looks like standard pricing. I'm having a hard time justifying spending that much when it streams for free, hence why I'm only looking for older stuff now.
  12. Imma stay away from that trailer, but looking forward to some surprises in S2. In ap erfect world I've have the time/energy to rewatch S1 prior, but as it stands I'll just have to settle for a recap. Maybe I can squeeze in rewatching that S1 finale though...
  13. So a friend got me a nice little turntable and wireless speakers for Christmas and I need to start buying some vinyl to actually play on it. I still have my original copy of Thriller and a few 45s (including "Purple Rain") from back in the day, but I'm in need of some new stuff. I've no real record shops in close proximity to me, so any suggestions for online links to look for good used or new vinyl? Amazon is higher than I thought; actually, vinyl in general is more expensive than I anticipated. So I'm being hyper selective and putting spending limits on myself for vinyl. I've already got an unhealthy collectibles/action figure addiction I'm doing poorly at shaking. (dropped over five bills this month thanks to TRU sales and having to have that life-sized Infinity Gauntlet replica)
  14. Yuss! So do y'all think the editorial and writing staff at MARVEL had the idea for the F4 return planned all along and were just waiting for the movie rights to come back to Disney before they put it into motion or is this something they likely came up with after the movie rights were bought back by Disney?
  15. What I thought what would be a simple search on google to answer your questions led me down a disturbing rabbit hole... All seasons of AoS have been 22 episodes, so it is a safe assumption S5 will go to 22, too. However, AoS has NOT yet been renewed for a S6! Apparently the showrunners don't know if S5 will be the last for the series or not, but they said they're "prepared" if the S5 finale is indeed the series finale. So if ABC/Disney is canceling the series we might get a truncated, S5. But my guess/hope is well get a full 22 episodes for S5. Also, I didn't realize/remember that S5E12 was the 100th episode for the series. That explains the "big event" at the end and Coulson's encounter with a lot of past characters via the fear dimension shenanigans. Somehow having that knowledge makes me like the episode better now, so thought I'd share.
  16. If piratebay or demonoid don't have it then I can't help ya, bruh. Speaking of Venture Bros. WTF up with that show? It just disappears on us...for years. :(
  17. I enjoyed that more than I thought I would. Nice find, Drifter.
  18. Some cool casting news came out today: Coulson & Ronan are in! Also, news to me, Ben Mendelsohn is in as a Skrull! I'm way more excited for this film now. MCU Phase 4 is looking more and more like Secret Wars.
  19. Just saw a teaser scene for this in my FB feed that was fantastic. (involves the brief snippet from the above trailer with Aubrey & Jerome in the pool) I was gonna wait until the whole of S2 aired to binge it, but I don't know if I can hold out not watching it week to week.
  20. Hello? *echoes* Looks like I'm the only one still watching this weekly, or at least the only one commenting on it. TWD S8E15 Honestly, even though there was a pretty big battle, this still somehow felt like a filler episode.
  21. Yeah just read that about Capt. Marvel. Should be interesting, even if only a cameo. (They should put in a young Agent May in there too since it's in the 90s, but you know they won't.) :/
  22. Heh. Well there ya go. Looked at his IMDB page and he also ran Spartacus before DD. Never saw the show, but I know a lot of people dug it. IMDB doesn't list him having anything next as far as directing. It'll be interesting to see if he sticks to film or goes back TV.
  23. Yeah, not a groundbreaking or game changing action film, but definitely an enjoyable one. I only saw the trailer once ages ago, so I didn't feel like much was spoiled for me. However, there are only technically four fight scenes in the film, and only one that's anything like the first film, so I can see how if the trailer was fresh in your mind it would have been overly spoilery.
  24. That made so much more sense after I googled "Jeremy Clarkson."
