I will defend Iron Man 3 till the end Yeah, I'm going to do my best to separate the universes, it's the trap that Star Wars fans (not to bring up another thread) get into all the time. I'll hope for the best and turn my attention to praying for a good Terminator film someday.

So, and forgive me because it's been a hot minute since i've re-read these books, while the SETTING of AVP the book and movie differ a lot of the same beats are hit ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_vs._Predator_(novel_series) ) down to being marked by the Predator as one of theirs. The big part that changed in the ending is that in AVP the movie the predators are just like like...peace out homie, and in the book she's taken to the homeworld where basically she's treated like shit because...well racism. Now Alien...Resurrection I believe *fact checks self* pulls HEAVILY from this trilogy ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens:_Nightmare_Asylum ) . Billie, why is Ripley alive, all that stuff is from that trilogy which is pretty awesome - thing is...that's actually a really good trilogy - that movie was hot garbage. That's what I mean with the movies play with book elements. They cherry pick what they want to take from them without actually making quality films based on those works. Yeah a movie about the predator homeworld, where a human is just trying to fit in would be boring to anyone that's not me but you got to learn their culture. The Yautja for the most part are represented pretty well, it gets a little cringy when shit like predator dogs get involved and...I guess for reasons, you can't really get into the "blooding" ceremony too much (basically the plot of AvP at any given point) because that's just too much crossover.

I think i'd have tried to separate it more if they were not so hell bent on trying to turn the books into movies. AvP, Alien Resurrection... ...still you all have a good point. I'll go in with low expectations and just hope for a good film. I know that's still asking a lot.

I can't even believe they would attach him to this. The writers do know he's not just a vampire right? Like, Leto is going to need to act...or not. Who the fuck knows. TBH I think all these potential spider-verse announcements they are making won't mean jack and shit unless Venom does well. If it's a pile they will pull these projects and try and figure out what to do next.

I might actually be angrier about this predator upgrade thing than midichlorians guys.

I never got around to playing the last game. It's been on my "to buy and play" list but I did hear a lot of positive things about it once the fanboys calmed down. Still, super pumped for this one.

I'm honestly surprised this didn't already have a thread. I for one cannot WAIT for 2077 to come out. I actually fired up the most recent Shadowrun games just to get a little cyberpunk fix in the meantime.

Got to catch it this weekend, and I gotta say - I really did enjoy it. I think maybe it got hyped up a /touch/ too much for my taste. People we throwing shit like, Babadook at me and I was like..ok so we're gonna see some shit go down - which it did, but I think the directors choice to change the direction of the film rapidly (he's said so in interviews, to keep tension), ultimately makes the ending fall short. There's no time for the audience to take in the thing he's trying to setup and so you just get kinda a flaccid ending out of it.

It's James Wan universe, but he only really works on the primary titles in the series (usually). I'm pretty stoked for this one myself.

Ok, so I finished the first 2 eps last night. ...damn. I am loving this show. I totally get Don's feel about it being a little slow, but I feel like this is a really good character piece. I chatted about with my gf last night and she thinks if it doesn't do well it could easily be picked up by hulu and crossed over with the runaways.

Literally nothing about this sounds good to me. Then again, has Spawn ever really been good aside from the HBO show? I say this as someone who did read a butt-load of Spawn as a kid. It's a really cool universe that just seems to get bogged down with shitty writing. Someone sell me on the Jamie Foxx thing, seriously.

Nope. It had a couple of starts and stops so far. They filmed a pilot YEARS ago for Fox - it didn't happen. AMAZON made a new pilot just this last year...nope. Now that pilot is being shopped around and Netflix is just looking at the property trying to decide if it's worth it. ...they need to stop fucking playing with my heart over this. I want this show to happen. It's one of my favorite comics of all time and it deserves so much better than this. (also yay listening to mah show)

Yeah it's supposed to be like H1Z1. If that's the mechanic they are going with, it might be harder to get me on board
