  1. I'm pretty out of the loop this year for new movies. Hadn't heard of this one. Here's the trailer if anyone else is clueless: I still have no idea what to make of it, and if I'd just seen the trailer without seeing/hearing what appear to be stellar reviews across the board, I don't think I'd have given this a second look. I prefer a more minimal style of filmmaking and this looks anything but. I'm open to it, though.
  2. Of this list, I haven't seen: 1981: An American Werewolf in London1983: Videodrome1992: Candyman1993: Cronos1994: In the Mouth of Madness1997: Funny Games2003: High Tension2011: You're Next2016: Don't Breathe I'm happy @The NZA is as dedicated to general spookiness as I am! I feel like we'll burn through this list pretty quickly! Candyman is up first. I can't believe I missed that one in the 90s.
  3. I really loved Hereditary. I can see why it was so divisive with audiences, though. It definitely goes off the rails at the end, but... This movie stays with you. I've been thinking about it since I woke up this morning. I'd like to go back at some point and just watch the beginning part again to see all the little comments and hints that will make much more sense now. But I'm gonna need some time. That was far too intense!!
  4. He's like me and doesn't wanna watch the trailer because we know we're gonna watch the series and don't want to see too much ahead of time! This show could be hot garbage and he'd still watch it. lol
  5. Anyone remember the OG Kudos bars? These things were so good. My mom bought them because she was always “dieting” and these had less calories than candy bars. They were “granola bars” but tasted like straight up candy. They relaunched these a while back with M&M, Snickers and Dove flavors, and those were okay. But the originals were my favorite growing up. I miss them!
  6. The Big Mac is one of those foods I get very random cravings for, so I get one and then I always feel really gross right after eating it. When they had the smaller version that was like a cheeseburger with special sauce, I handled it much better! I wonder if they still have those...
  7. Kind of a meh trailer but I’ll still watch. The first season was pretty fun.
  8. Oh man. That was a bad casting call from the get, but now she has to carry a whole movie? Oh nooo. Nooooo.
  9. Any really good 2D horror games I might be able to play?
  10. I want all things Loki and no things Scarlet Witch. Her character (and actress) did nothing for me in the movies. I should read some of her books and see if there’s story worth telling there but I’m low on free time and would rather read just about anything else.
  11. Puppets don’t have a sexual orientation? Ok, Sesame Street.
  12. I wasn't sure if I should make a Bert & Ernie thread or just put this under Sesame Street. Feel free to change the title, admins! 'BERT AND ERNIE WERE A COUPLE WHEN I WAS WRITING THEM': 'SESAME STREET' WRITER MARK SALTZMAN REVEALS More here. Original Queerty interview here. I love this. If nothing else, it might be a good resource for ridiculous parents who complain about how to explain to their children what it means to be gay.
  13. Looks like it, right? In the rest of the pics on the original article, he is coming out of a door that says "Ha-Ha's Talent Room." So definitely seems like the failed stand-up comedian story.
  14. Damn. Digging the aesthetic big time. The broken down merry-go-round, the lettering on the wall, his clothes, the creepy clown, the whole vibe. I'm liking all of it. Joaquin has a good face for this.
  15. Ok so @The NZA and I just watched The Belko Experiment and it was BRUTAL. It’s exactly what I thought, Battle Royale in an office. So nothing new story-wise, but it’s an enjoyable ride. Seems weird to say I enjoyed it, given the absolute carnage in it. But it accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do - shows our survival instincts under the most horrific circumstances. Man, it was gory as hell! Where most directors would cut away to spare the audience during a gruesome killing, this guy zooms in, so definitely not for the faint of heart! It’s only about 90 mins so it doesn’t overstay its welcome either. It’s really tense and suspenseful! I enjoyed it, even if my face was buried in Nick’s shoulder for much of it. Oh and did we ever find out what the new horror project was?
  16. So based on this part of the interview with the writers....
  17. Oof. Yeah, I didn’t mind the finale as much but this is still a very justified response. I feel like this show didn’t live up to its potential. They had a built-in audience here! This could’ve been something great but in the end it was just okay for me.
  18. Me for this entire damn season: This is such a bizarre show for me. Usually when something confuses me or leaves unanswered questions (e.g. LOST), I hate it. By the finale here I really had no idea what to think about certain storylines but I still enjoyed the entire ride. I hate open-ended "it's open to audience interpretation" type endings. I think it's because I went to film school, took multiple screenwriting courses and was always told that open endings are second only to "it was all a dream" endings in being unacceptable, lazy writing conventions. So yeah, I would have much preferred answers and a better conclusion, BUT, I still enjoyed watching this. The characters and story were cool, the King universe was cool (if underutilized), and it had a few actors I really enjoy. I didn't mind the lazy writing as much this time around. I think this show, like the movie "It," suffered a bit when they made Bill Skarsgard go from silent/creepy to having any sort of exposition or lengthy dialogue. He's scary as hell to look at, but my man isn't a great actor. And he sounds like a teenager so... So yeah, I'd probably still watch more seasons of this if we get any. But I hope future stories are tighter/better written.
