  1. I'm sure they'll gloss over Jug's backstory, like they did with most of the seconday mutants (they never even hinted at the relationship between Nightcrawler and Mystique in X2). I can see them as least including the fact that he's Xavier's step-brother, though. Why else would they make sure to get a Brit in the role?
  2. Lol see 'em? We found a couple issues in the comic store a week or two ago and she went online that night and ordered all 9 of the covers. ...still haven't gotten them, though. :( Maybe tomorrow...
  3. Heh heh, I was thinking the same thing, C&J. I'd hit it...assuming she still has all the right parts for it...
  4. That's right, listen to Hitch.
  5. Shush! Shush you! Jess and I just got Season 1 a couple weeks ago. We figured we needed a new tv series to watch obsessively in between Firefly and the fourth season of 24. We're only into the third disk so if you guys are gonna keep talking, I'm staying the hell outta this thread.
  6. I liked issue #1 (though it made me miss the days when Miller took the time to draw things well...thank god Lee is doing the new Batman book). I tried so hard to like issue #2. By issue #3 I wish I had spent my money on something else.
  7. Agree with ya on all that. The scene between Mal and Jayne at the end of Ariel is one of my favorite moments in the series. Really great stuff. It does really leave you hanging, though, so it's kinda sad to watch all the way through. With the series cancelled early and all, they didn't get to do a true season finale that brought any sense of closure (Objects in Space was good, but not that good). The movie is gonna have a big job to complete, since it'll have to tie up all the unanswered questions from the series, but also leave enough left over to allow for sequels (or a new series). On top of that, it'll also have to be understandable by all the people who didn't see the show. It'll be interesting to see how Whedon and crew try to pull it off.
  8. Heh, you say that like it doesn't already happen. This is why I love Nintendo. Between this and the DS, they're proving that they're still all about innovative design. I'm not sure yet if this is going to make it easier or harder to design games for the Revolution, and I don't know if it'll end up being a better method overall, but I felt the same way when they unveiled the N64 controller so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until I get to try it myself. I can see this making it harder for game companies to successfully utilize all three systems, though. The Gamecube controller was similar enough to those of the PS2 and XBox that it didn't make a huge amount of difference, but designing one game that will work with this controller and that of the PS3 might be tough. It could either mean the Revolution has fewer games, or just a bunch of crappy ports of PS3 games.
  9. Yes they have, and we've been blessed with some pretty good comics-to-film costumes in the recent years (though I still have my reservations about the one in Batman Begins, and don't get me started on the neon blue and maroon Superman costume) I just think this one will be a particular challenge. I mean, the guy wears a bowl over his head with eyeholes, for crissake.
  10. Eh, I think Cage can pull it off. Maybe it's just because I'm not a hard-core fan, but I've never really thought the Ghostrider character was defined enough that the movie-version needs to be exact to do it justice (unlike, say, John Constantine). I think, if anything is going to kill that movie, it won't be Nic Cage as Johnny Blaze, it'll be a flaming CG skull. And yeah, I agree about Vinnie Jones, I just can't see it. But I guess he's a better choice than any of the typical wrestler-turned-actors (with the exception of the Rock, who I think has become quite a good action hero in this new Arnold-less Hollywood). But let's face it, Juggernaut has one of the most ridiculous looking costumes in the comic books - and that's saying something - so just about anyone will look funny in the suit unless they pull off a phenominal new design job on it.
  11. 'S called Serenity. Jess and I found #2 and #3 at the comic shop, and ordered #1 on Amazon. So i haven't read #1 yet but I said what-the-hell and read 2 and 3 and yes it's quite good. Short, but good. I love the artist they got to do it, and the covers (there are three different ones for each issue, so 9 in total) are by the likes of Bradstreet, Cassaday, Quesada, Hitch. etc. Great stuff. (Good to see Laura Martin gettin' a cover credit. She deserves it.)
  12. But enough about that shit, more space cowboy talk!
  13. Let's just say Jess and I are such big fans now, we named our new car "Vera". (she's gun-metal grey, no less)
  14. Glad to hear Purefoy's name is making it onto that list, because I've always wanted him to at least be considered. After seeing Layer Cake, I'd also happily support Daniel Craig in the role. I'm not sure how accurate that article is in its facts, though (for instance, as far as I know Clive Owen has never been involved in The Pink Panther remake...maybe they got him confused with Jason Statham?) And some of the picks on that list seem a little far-fetched (David Morrissey and Rufus Sewell?) Dammit, Eon needs to get off its ass. I miss my Bond flicks. By the way, when they mentioned Julian McMahon's overly-zealous campaigning for the role, I'm surprised they didn't mentioned the just released Season 2 dvd of Nip/Tuck. The guy is definitely trying a little too hard.
  15. Finished it in less than a week (and we were trying to go slow). Loved every bit of it. I can't wait for Serenity.
  16. Scanned the first one. The photo was actually put out as a publicity photo. I'm fairly sure it was on the back of the video box, actually. Type in "Saving Private Ryan" in google images and you'd get it soon enough.
  17. Y'know, I was re-reading this thread. It's funny that you mentioned Saving Private Ryan after reading Ultimates #1 because I thought the same thing. So much so that I looked back over that scene and realized that it's obvious Hitch used it as reference. So much so that a couple panels are literal copies of scenes from the movie (and I'm fairly certain I saw a few panels lifted out of Band of Brothers during the scene in the plane).
  18. In handy desktop form Catherine Bell Josie Maran Kate Beckinsale Kristy Swanson Jessica Alba Monica Bellucci Michela Bruni Corey Quinn
  19. I wonder. Do you think Whedon is going to use the movie to tie up everything in the series, or is he going to hold out hope that if the movie is successful he might be able to bring the series back?
  20. 'S a brilliant shirt. As for favorite characters, I've decided it's impossible not to love Kaylee. An' I do also like Jayne because he's the guy who says just what everyone else thinks but doesn't say. And sure, he's kind of a dick but he just don't know no better, really. It's really hard to pick out an actual favorite, but I have to say I kinda dig Badger. But maybe it's just because I've always had a soft spot for cockney gangsters. "The wheel's always turning, Badger." "That only matters to the people on the rim."
  21. Got it, watched all of disc 1 already. Everyone's right, great show. I only wish the episodes were longer.
  22. Y'know what, I've been hearing good things about this for years, I've been reading great reviews, I've been hearing fantastic stuff about it from friends, and I've loved every trailer for Serenity I've seen, an' now you've all this stuff to say about it so...fuck it, I'mma go out and buy it right now.
  23. Agreed. The guy's a lot more effective when he gets a book that mostly involves people sittin' down and talking. Or at least simple gunfights ala Punisher.
  24. "Student of Finch" is not the sorta thing I like to hear, but I'll give him a look. Ribic's the guy you used to show off a lot? Like the one of Wolvy shot up while reading Thoreau?
