  1. Damn, I'd buy that if it was a poster. Good to see Crain getting some better material than that symbiote fighting stuff. And Ennis? Damn. Ghostrider hasn't looked this good since...well let's face it, Ghostrider's never looked this good. I'm gonna have to check it out.
  2. I'm a costume skeptic, but I don't think it looks ridiculous. In fact, I think it's a really good costume design. I like the heavier cape instead of the usual cloth bedsheet, and the smaller shield. The only thing I don't like is the colors. I dunno, maybe Singer is shooting it in certain filters that will make it look different on screen than it does in photos, but if not what's wrong with the plain old blue and red? That's neon blue and...yes...I'm sure of it...maroon. But that's not my biggest concern, the costume's not all that bad. What worries me is the cast. I think the supporting cast is spot-on, and Spacey as Luthor is going to be fantastic. No it's Lois and Supes that I'm worried about. I just can't get over how young they are. Kate Bosworth is actually a fine actress (a little surprising for an actress who got her big break in Blue Crush) but being a fine actress doesn't change the fact that she's only 22 years old. And Brandon Routh? Tom Welling who plays the teenage Supes on Smallville is two years older than him. I mean, from what little I've seen so far they both give fine performances, I'm just really going to have trouble getting over how young they are. Especially since this movie is supposedly meant as an actual sequel to the Christopher Reeves series. If it was a Superboy movie maybe...
  3. Yeah, Beyond Good and Evil was fantastic, I wish more people had played it. It was so good, Peter Jackson hand-picked Michael Ancel and his team to do the King Kong game, after he played Beyond Good and Evil. It woulda out-Zelda'd Zelda if Wind Waker didn't turn out so good. But finding good Western developers is easy, but like I said it's a bit more difficult to find an individual designer to give the credit to in a western company. Even if you did manage to find out the lead designer's name, you usually can't call it "their game" like you can with a Miyamoto or Kojima game.
  4. Not sure why, exactly, but it seems like western developers don't usually get the kinda credit that Japanese developers do. Maybe it's the way the companies are set up or something. The Japanese seem a lot more open about giving one guy the credit for an idea, while the Americans (and let's not forget the Brits - good ol' Rare) seem more focused on giving a team the credit. For instance, I'm sure there was one guy who pitched the game concept for GTAIII, and that game has been one of the most influential games in recent history, but no one guy gets the credit, Rockstar Games gets the credit. Anyway, that said, Schaefer's the ex-LucasArts guy who did Sam & Max, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle and Psychonauts, isn't he? I love his stuff.

  6. Oh man, can't wait to get cable so I can start watching that. Anybody seen it? How's the cast?
  7. Loeb on the Ultimates will be cool, but it's gonna be really hard for me to swallow Madureira's style after Hitch's fantastic realistic, detailed, cinematic pencils.
  8. And it will. Firefly sold enough of an expensive box set of dvds to warrant a movie, so it's not too far-fetched that the movie will sell enough dvds to warrant a sequel. And by the way...
  9. Heh. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Take my Book, Take my Wash, kick me right smack in the crotch,I don't care, cause I'll still see, this film that Whedon made for me!
  10. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who remembered. Sometimes there are weird bits about my childhood that seem so odd I can't imagine them actually being real...but they were. Like that crossover cartoon about drugs that had the TMNT in it, as well as Garfield, Bugs Bunny, the Smurfs, Winnie the Pooh, Alvin & the Chipmunks, the Muppet Babies, the Real Ghostbusters, the gang from Ducktales, ALF and George Bush.
  11. Didn't Archie cross over with the Ninja Turtles at one point, too?
  12. Maybe it's because I've always been drawn to women older than me, or maybe I just feel the need to discredit Hollywood and society's strange idea that women suddenly become unattractive once they hit 40, but either way, don't mind me I'm just providing counter-programming to all these 19 year olds that get posted, doin' my own Pictures of Hot Chicks - The 4-oh Edition Kelly Preston Diane Lane Monica Bellucci Famke Janssen Elizabeth Hurley Cindy Margolis Honorable mentions that I don't have time to find good pics for right now: Vivica A. Fox, Sandra Bullock, Connie Nielsen, Julia Ormond, Moira Tierney, Meg Ryan (completely because Meg Ryan in a Stones shirt is hot),
  13. Yeah The Transporter and Pitch Black both got sequels based on DVD sales alone, and we all know how well this series sells on DVD. Don't count 'em out just yet.
  14. I think radical Browncoats did it...
  15. Yeah Florida isn't part of the South, it's a colony of Cuba and Jersey. Man, I can't believe I missed this story before, that's just...wow...
  16. Just puttin' in my two cents as a Preacher fan that, although Josh Holloway (Sawyer) would be alright, this is the guy who should play Jesse Custer: I mean, ignore the surfer guy necklace and Indiana Jones garb an' that's Jesse Custer.
  17. Mmm, a Wallace & Gromit trilogy. The only problem with that'n is that it takes five years to make each movie.
  18. Ahhh Stargate. From the brilliant creative minds that brought us the American version of Godzilla...
  19. Ho-lee shit I really don't know what to say that doesn't have to be put under a spoiler tag. Except maybe, go see this freakin' movie. No, go buy Firefly, watch it all then go see this freakin' movie. Now here be spoilers. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « First off - because this has got to be the first thing anyone's gonna talk about coming out of this movie anyway - big props to Whedon for shooting the most brutal and shocking death scene I've seen in a movie in years. I mean, what happened to Wash...that was like, Sonny Corleone powerful in terms of how it effected the movie and the audience. I knew going in, from the immediate darker tone of the film that chances are not everybody was gonna make it out alive, and that feeling was confirmed with Book's death...but man, when that happened to Wash I swear to god I was convinced that Whedon just might kill off everybody as a big "I'm taking my ball and going home" gesture to every near-sighted taste-less TV exec who thought cancelling his show was a good idea. I'm a picky guy, I can pick out some slight complaints if I really have to. Like, let's see, not even a single scrap of information about Blue Sun or the "hands of blue" guys? Caving in and putting sound in space? Nothing about Book's deep dark secret? (though I'm figuring he used to be an Operative, now) And there were many times where it started leaning pretty far away from its original Western sensibilities and deep into Star Trek territory. But I'm just reaching now. All in all it was a great movie, great science fiction. If there's any justice in this world, Serenity should be the beginning of the next Star Wars-type franchise. Or, hey, maybe someone will wanna make a TV show out of it.
