Solo: A Star Wars Story

Recommended Posts

Lord and Miller are the guys behind The Last Man On Earth, Son Of Zorn and Making History. And if you've seen any of those then you know how they might be a bad fit. Brilliant guys, but they definitely have a style.

This might be a blessing. I'd take a Ron Howard Solo flick before a Lord & Miller Solo flick.

It's worth noting that it's being done by Phil Lord and Chris Miller of 21 Jump Street/Lego Movie fame. So basically even though it's pointless and sounds terrible it's going to be solid fucking gold and you're gonna love it so much you shit all over yourself and don't care.

You could be right about this being a blessing because if Baytor was right then this firing just saved us all an embarrassing trip to the theater...and the cost of a new pair of pants.

Ron Howard is Now Directing the Han Solo Movie

The Star Wars Han Solo standalone film will now be directed by Ron Howard.

THR reports that Howard will replace director team Chris Miller and Phil Lord, after a difference in creative vision with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy led to a spilt.

Howard will reportedly meet with the cast to settle the shakeup, and take a look at the rough footage of the film to see where and how to dig in. The project had three and a half weeks of production left, with five weeks of reshoots planned, as well. Presumably, that should be enough time for Howard to bring the project together, on schedule.

Lucasfilm previously issued the following statement about the shift in directors:

"Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon," Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement.

Lord and Miller also released a statement, to balance things out:

"Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew."

The untitled Han Solo movie will be in theaters May 25, 2018.

Cautiously interested.

^ Think that sums me up, too.

Flick doesn't look at all like the vibe that one publicity shot gave off...

Really looking forward to a Boba Fett film, now - if it means more Star Wars underworld stuff.

This is a rental, tho - if I can handle multiple viewings...I'd get this on blu.  Really digging the Star Wars underworld visuals / aesthetic.

This could fall into the category of Rogue One: who cares about the Death Star plans / who cares how Han got the Falcon - but if it's a different kind of 'Star Wars film' (Rogue One was a war movie) - this could be kewl.  It's not looking like Guardians...so far - LOL

Ford is Solo, tho - that shit is distracting.
