Mr. Exclusive Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 So as you can prolly hear from every 15 to 19 year old's Honda Civic that drives by that Reggaeton is taking the nation by storm! Do you like it? POST!!
The NZA Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 This is a pretty interestin poll, cause our forum's not the best sample of mainstream america or otherwise; this question came up at a recent party and no one responded well to it, espeically the cuban members. Even with the minimal spanish skills i have, this shit sounds crappy. i know its weak to judge an entire genre like that, and that pitbull "mentirosa" or whatever song wasnt bad, but i just cant actually see me downloading a daddy yankee or whoever album.
Senshik Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 i know its weak to judge an entire genre like that, and that pitbull "mentirosa" or whatever song wasnt bad, Only cuz you think that song is about me! I AM NOT A MENTIROSA (liar)!!!! Reggaeton is my life! Everytime I hear those beats, I just... I JUST, I JUST WANNA...., I JUST WANNA DANCE!!! In truth, I dislike this music and you'll only catch me dancing to this after I've gotten a couple of drinks in me and I'm prolly out with the girls. Yeah Yeah Yeah, girls wanna dance when a bit tipsy. It's true. I am the guilty. Otherwise, this is crap. I only actually like two-three songs that ain't too bad though...
Losifer Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I hate this music with a passion...i mean, its the same fucking beat for every reggaeton song. Do people not hear it. FAKK!!
The NZA Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 its the modern equivalent of what's now called "freesytle" from the 80's or so: its shit, but it originated outta here, so were gonna take credit for ths shit and milk it for what its worth, sadly. And like Senshik illustrated: chicks will dance to anything. my favorite shit is when the club plays some shit like "bitches aint shit" and a few grrls always go "ooh this is my jam!" and start dancin.
archangel Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 This stuff needs to die like Yesterday. My God this decade is producing crap music.

Well, Pitbull isn't really considered Reggaeton! He's Hip-Hop if you care to believe it or not!
archangel Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Well, Pitbull isn't really considered Reggaeton! He's Hip-Hop if you care to believe it or not! That's what they said about Michael Jackson. "Well, Michael isn't really considered Black! He's white if you care to believe it or not!"
the division of joy Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 what the fuck is reggaeton, i know and love reggae.... is it similar, or is it a butchery?
archangel Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 'butchery' is, perhaps, the understatement of the century. Calling Raggaeton 'a butchery of Raggea' is like calling the Titanic a leaky boat.
the division of joy Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 so i take it sean paul is being classed as reggaeton... he just butchers any genre he aspires to be.....
IguanaDon? Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 it's crap. Get on some UB40 and you've got me. THAT'S reggae. The marley stuff aswell...
the division of joy Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 ska (proper ska, not ska punk) is almightily great too
Newtype Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 What the hell is this Reggaeton your talking about.
The NZA Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 i assure you youve heard it, youve just repressed it. MJ is black, look at the man dance for chrissakes. and funkapitbull.
Aartemys Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Reggaeton, to me, is like a fungus. It will grow on you...I used to hate it & I would change the station everytime it came on...then, the songs got stuck in my head...then a few drunken nights at the club...and well, the fuckin' shit somehow ends up playing in my car alot... Given the choice, I'd listen to anything beforehand...but when I am at a club, a few drinks in me, a drink in hand...I dance like I am on fuckin' Star Search or something... I like Residente Calle 13, personally, in fact I am listening to it right now...
the division of joy Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 well, i gave this a shot... and by the end of it i wished i had have given myself a shot..... or at least a shower of bullets..... this actually makes sean paul seem audible....

Churn out radio-safe music, loop to death till those of us who didnt like it are so oversaturated that the song becomes more familiar than the sounds of traffic going by (think of usher a few years back), then youre at the club and hear the exact same shit (not as much clear channel's fault, cause motherfuckers dont wanna hear new shit at the club, apparently), and between that and the liqour, songs like laffy taffy apparently become tolerable. Next thing you know, youre enjoyin it. You dont want to like "DAME SOMETHING SOMETHING GASOLINA (SKEEET SKEET SKEET)" but by god you will eventually.
The NZA Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 im goin with miss aarty, she's the one who said she came around to it. which still matches my theory that this genre isnt meant for guys to like.
Losifer Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I'm baffled how that repetitive drum beat gets the chicks all crazy after a few drinks.
Senshik Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Michael, tonight dude, I just wanna dance!!! NO what?! NO FUCK CHICKS! I just wanna express myself in the art of DANCE!!! You listen to that skit that Dane Cook has about clubs, funny shit.
Master Star Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Reggaeton in like one song doses is liveable...but when I am forced to listen to it by my very loud Puerto Rican cousins...it makes me want to hurt people...
