  1. The Best Buy pre-order that was live for like 8 minutes before selling out? Nice man! I tried to grab one in store on launch morning, but no such luck. :(
  2. Shit newt, where'd you find that fire emblem fates special edition??
  3. The Berserk opening was like nails on chalkboard when I first heard it too, but by the end of the series you will fucking love it.
  4. Congrats Nick!! Oh man, I was only a couple of hours in, but I remember EXACTLY where I left off in Grandia...in 1999 (christ...). Maybe some day I'll get back to it. I'm thinking we should do a monthly Hondos Backlog challenge. Keep the momentum going!
  5. The Swapper Thomas was alone Stick it to the man Murasaki Baby Finished Murasaki Baby tonight to round out my Four games this month. Murasaki Baby was a Tim Burton-esque puzzle platformer by Massimo Guarini, the director of the woefully unappreciated Shadows of the Damned. Apparently, he left Grasshopper Manufacturer to open his own studio and this was their first project. It was a neat little game that made some creative use of the Vita's various inputs. Could of been a bit longer, but at least it didn't overstay it's welcome. Oh and Guarini brought along the always excellent Akira Yamaoka for a couple of tracks on this too.
  6. Don't get me wrong. I hope to god this is real. From the age of 6 to maybe 16, Spaceballs was the greatest movie ever made as far as I was concerned!
  7. Hate to burst everyone's bubble, but I'm pretty sure I read this was a hoax :(
  8. I'd be betraying my user name if I didn't lead my recommendations with Cowboy Bebop. Not only one of my favorite anime, but one of my favorite THINGS of all time, period. Here are a couple more I highly recommend: Death Note - It's another show where there's nothing quite like it out there. It sets up an interesting world with it's own unique set of rules and then goes wild in this ever escalating game of cerebral cat and mouse. I watched this one week to week as the episodes were originally airing and man, some of the cliffhangers were AGONY! Kill La Kill - It's the first show by the people that did Gurren Lagaan after they broke off of Gainax and started their own studio. It hits many of the same notes as Gurren Lagaan, and it's equally as brilliant if you ask me. It's essentially their take on the "Magical Girl" genre (a la Sailor Moon) but batshit insane. Since you've seen Dead Leaves, it's similar in terms of it's colorfulness and manic energy (although Kill La Kill is not quite as off the wall)
  9. Who neg's a Piccolo?? Or is that just to get Axels down to the mark of the Beast?
  10. Due to a combination of time constraints and having to travel a lot this month, I decided to give my Vita some much deserved attention and bang out four titles from that backlog. After finishing The Swapper earlier this month, I also decided to go with a puzzle-platformer theme: The Swapper Thomas was alone Stick it to the man Murasaki Baby Wow, anyone who's a fan of Tim Schafer's earlier work needs to check out Stick it to the man, ASAP. It has a very Pyschonauts vibe (in aesthetic/ subject matter) and is a weird hybrid of a stealth platformer with the 'Use a thing with another thing' gameplay of the classic point and click's of yore.
  11. The Swapper is on Steam I believe, and all the Playstation platforms.
  12. Knocked out The Swapper in one sitting last night. Neat little puzzle game with a main mechanic that explores a horrific existential premise. Quite enjoyed it! Anyone else play this? Nick, I think you might enjoy the ideas behind it.
  13. I am all for some classic Space Ghost. Anyone remember the USA Cartoon Express block? Man, I used to watch the hell out of that. Space Ghost and Herculoids were my favorites! I have two gripes: 1) Those Scooby Doo designs 2) Needs more Blue Falcon and Dynomutt.
  14. Such a unique voice and perspective. Sorely missed. Mitch, I hope you get to use a Gel Impact to write all your jokes now.
  15. I know we used to have a thread for this, but for the life of me I couldn't find it (likely lost in the most recent purge). Anyway, there was a challenge started back in 2013 by writers at Joystiq (rest in peace) to take the typically sparse release window of February to make efforts to tackle our ever growing backlogs. Basically, take 4 titles in your backlog and put them to bed. There are no real rules other than that, you don't necessarily have to had STARTED and FINISHED the game, you don't need to 100% it, just hit those ending credits within the month. PLUS we get an extra day this year, so no excuses. I typically try for a theme with my entries, in 2014 I managed to complete the 'Dead' challenge with 1) Walking Dead (Season 1) 2) Dead Space 2 3) Deadlight 4) Deadpool However, in 2015, I tried for 'Shadow' games and only managed to finish Shadow of Mordor, with all the others remaining unfinished to this day (I think having a wife who was 8 months pregnant last February seriously cramped my efforts, #BackwardsPriorities). 1) Shadow of Mordor 2) Killzone: Shadowfall 3) Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth 4) Shadow of the Collosus HD I'm got another theme ('Last' games) but I'm not sure I can commit to that (The Last Story along would probably take all my gaming time for the month). Maybe puzzle games? I've got Talos Principle, The Swapper and The Witness. Does a week old game qualify as part of my backlog yet? Anyway, anyone else down to take the challenge and make a dent (however tiny) in their backlog, share your efforts/intents here!
  16. Let's hope this is just a hype reel, cause some of that CG....
  17. I file this under 'Be careful what you wish for....'
  18. Missed the razor-thin preorder window on this so I figured I'd wait to try my chances at Best Buy on release day (Dat Gamers Club 20% off). Stepped out of the office at 10 to try my luck. Best Buy by my work got exactly ONE copy, which they hadn't even put out yet. Ahhh yis
  19. Read The Enigma of Amigara Fault. It's a quick read and you can find it easy enough online.
  20. Crossover? Maybe the movie version of Secret Wars will take the MCU to a galaxy far far away......
  21. It's a good thing I have no fucks left to give. Ito's stuff has always unsettled the hell out of me and in retrospect, his style is ALL OVER that Tokyo Game show trailer. There are panels from Uzumaki that will still give me chills if I just THINK about them.
  22. If I remember correctly, Panch hates Slither cause someone told him or he was expecting a zombie movie? Something like that. ASC, got a couple of more horror - comedy flicks: Tucker and Dale versus Evil - Alan Tudyuk plays one of the titular hillbillies. Subverts a ton of the "back - woods weirdos" horror tropes. Bubba Ho-tep - Bruce Campbell as a geriatric Elvis and his friend, Black JFK fight the Mummy.
