Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

If that was true then SkyNet would've killed Kyle Reese and not bothered with Sarah Connor.

I don't think there was anything in the movie that indicated that Skynet would have known Kyle was John Conner's father. And of course i makes no sense, because they could have killed Sarah Conner as a baby, which would have been easier.

There are just probably no records of where she was born for SkyNet, consider that their computer banks have lots of information of who John Connor is and where he was born and all that, but not where Sarah Connor was born or who her parents were. We don't know what kind of damage the war has done to computer databases that aren't sentient.

Timeloops are bullshit because they're too vulnerable to collapse and therefore paradox.

Say I went back in time today and gave fifteen year old me a stack o'porn and a couple thousand dollars. I've now ensured my own survival at least to the age of 32 when I will then have to go back and blahblahblah, inspite of the changes I've wrought by changing the past. What will I do with the cash? Buy a fucking car or motorbike probably. What if 15 year old me decided to put it up his nose? Timeloops are predicated on unwavering pre-destiny and IMO there are way too many variables to factor segue to chaos theory.

TL;DR TImeloops are rendered invalid by chaos theory. Therefore timelines branching from new events & choices as per ASC's image and whichever of you were arguing multiple timelines.

Timeloops exist independent of their timelines, a person going back in time can't change the future because in changing it they would cause themselves not to go back in time so when someone goes back in time and changes an event they create a new timeline independent of the first. If John Connor didn't send Kyle back then it's not as if he would no longer exist because he already exists, he's just ensuring that there will be a John Connor to stand against the machines in the next timeline. It's less of a loop and more of a corkscrew. Same with planet of the apes, that wormhole has the events happening over and over.

And to address chaos theory since Jay has brought it up: there are billions of other timelines where nothing of the sort is happening, I'm just concentrating on the timelines directly affected by the movies.
