doesnt matter if im talking about wanting tacos for dinner, LL finds a way to relate things back to this show. my point is: she's on about it lately, and she's not the only one, thinking i should check it out...or, at the very least, we should have a thread for it, so i can return here in 2011 and say "hey, this shit was good."

wiki says its going for a 4th season, and summarizes with:

Mad Men is set in the 1960s, initially at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City, and later at the newly created firm of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. The show centers on Don Draper (Jon Hamm), creative director at Sterling Cooper and later a founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, and those in his life in and out of the office. It also depicts the changing social mores of 1960s America. Mad Men has received critical acclaim, particularly for its historical authenticity and visual style, and has won multiple awards, including nine Emmys and three Golden Globes. It is the first basic cable series to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series.

huh. apparently, now i can copy things over with links. crazy.

so yeah, i think Lindsay was saying the contrast (in regards to sexism) was one of its interesting aspects - anyone else a fan?

i finally finished up the series so far and i really love where it's heading.

peggy is my hero.

LL: Let's talk S3 finale! Were you cheering when Roger Sterling said, "I know who to call." Then

Joanie showed up!

I loved that episode!

Also, Peggy is awesome (especially how she stood up to Don in that episode), but Roger Sterling is my hero. That dude is so pimp he's beyond pimp. He's like the next level of pimp. Which I don't really think we have a word for in English, the closest thing would probably be Sinatra, but the Germans call it Überpimpesch.

I fucking love this show! I couldn't even say anything but

"Don and Betty are ACTUALLY GETTING DIVORCED!"

for a few hours after watching the last couple of episodes of this season. Consistently awesome, engaging and pretty intelligent AT THE SAME TIME, plus with eye candy out the ass. Jon Hamm is sexy as hell, January Jones looks like a prettier Princess Grace, Christina Hendricks has already been discussed in the hot chicks thread for her amazing rack and pretty much everyone else is either equally good looking, or such an amazing character that it doesn't even matter.

As a side note, I started ordering an Old Fashioned every time I go out, but haven't found a single place that can get me one... most of them are out of bitters, and a lot of them have no idea what it even means. Does no one respect the classics anymore?? Do I have to order a Cran-appletini on the beach with extra cherries now?? I just want to be like Don Draper :(

I wish i had titts half as big as her's.

We all do, K. We all do.

1) you're going to use that awful pun twice?

2) those pics are wasted if they're not repeated in the hot chicks thread.

Been there. Done that. Where do you think you read me use that bad pun the 1st time, you pervert?

FYI: I searched for this thread by typing "mad men" three different times and each time got nothing! However, I typed in "hendricks" and the thread popped up right away. Hondo's: Even Our Search Engine Puts Hot Chicks First.

Anyway, the season four premiere was last night!

Ma d Men S4E1

One word summation: Daaaaaaaaaaaamn!

Highlights:

* Peggy growing a pair of balls then Don removing them...then Peggy getting them back! Oh snap!

* Was that a hooker Don had over on Thanksgiving? WTF!?!?

* Roger not being able to sit down for a drink at a restaurant!

* Joan! Must have MOAR JOAN!!

* Don going batshit and snappin' his fingers at the wholesome swimsuit company guys.

* Pryce has one line the entire episode. Haha! Classic.

I can't wait to see where they take these characters the rest of this season!

agreed. i don't know why it took some show on AMC for her to break out.--she's in her 30s now. i guess her figure was too awesomely curvy for most producers or whatever. also agreed on your comment about the general state of the characters this season, lindsay.

we don't usually see these characters fail in the professional realm--don especially. i like where this season seems to be going with that dynamic...

Where is all the MAD MEN love at, Hondo's? This season is fucking super tight! And this most recent episode finally filled a severe Joan drought. She fuckin' schooled some asshole fratboys in the office.

Also, Don Draper is finally crawling out of the hole he's been in since the divorce. Honestly, this last episode (S4E8) was one of the best written hours of TV I've seen in a while.

Yeah, there's a reason it's won an bucketload of Emmys the past three years. It's probably one of the best written shows on TV right now. That and it's just...so damn cool.

Nick, the first season of Breaking Bad is phenomenal TV. S2 is pretty damn good, and I've yet to watch S3, but I hear good t'ings about it.
