So, i made a Hondo's Bar group on Steam right after i joined, i think its mostly me and hopefully bish there soon.

anyone else on? the summer deals right now are insane. shit's been stupid-cheap: L4D2 was like $10, Borderlands is that much right now (till tomorrow). most games are marked down like half-off, every day they've been choosing certain titles to slash even moreso, up to the morning of July 5th im told.

I bought Half-Life 1 for $3, then Thief for $3. Sad i missed the Void at $5, might bite for 10...my wish list so far is Vampire: The Masquarade (sitting at $20), The Bone adventures, Aquaria, Audiosurf (i missed it at like $2.50!), mebbe Deus Ex if it goes back to $5, and id like to try Machinarium and Dreamfall: Longest Journey if they go on sale in the last 2 days. shame Sam & Max Season 2 isnt cheaper, prolly gonna get that on XBLA with Monkey Island 2 unless they bring em down, but yeah, shit's been 80-90% of in some cases.

oh yeah, i'm TheIrishNinja13 there if anyone's looking for friends.

let's be honest, i might as well start a backup home on PC if and when console DLC drives me away one day

awesome, added you guys to hondo's clan as well.

Logans - do they do these stupid-cheap sales for most holidays like christmas & such too? one guy told me my best bet for Vampire: the Masquerade to come down from $20 was to check by halloween.

I enjoyed Steam vicariously through a friend's account for a good long while before making my own account only recently, from what I've seen they do these crazy blowout sales fairly regularly.

So far I've gotten Portal for the low price of NOTHING (thanks again for that DoJ),

AvP classic for $1.25

Oblivion + DLC for $8.50

Morrowind for $4

Fallout 3 + DLC for $24.99

Freedom Force & Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich for $5.49

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 2 & the expansion for $19.99

Some bundle with a bunch of Indie games for $5, Chains being the only standout title

Comic Zone for $1.99

They had Overlord & Overlord 2 + expansion for $7.49 a couple of weeks ago, I almost got it.

Steam is the shit. Thing is, it makes me not want to buy anything that isn't on sale. Anyone ever pre-ordered a game with them? Does it just start downloading at midnight?

damn, nice haul man! here's what i ended up with:

Half-Life 1

Thief

The Void

Mechanarium

Aquaria

Audiosurf

Tales of Monkey Island looked cheap, but i wasnt sold on it. part 2 HD is out this week (if not already?) on XBL & PSN for about the same price, and Sam & Max season 2 never went on sale from what i saw, its somehow cheaper on live. Dreamfall: the longest Journey & Vampire will have to wait; im told they're worth $20 each but i got more than enough this go around anyway, only sad i passed on $5 Dues Ex GOTY edition.

Yeah I pre-ordered the Orange Box (Half Life 2: Episode 2 (with HL2 and Ep 1 inculded), Team Fortress 2 and Portal) basically you can fully download the games when you pre-order, but you can't play until the release date. Personally I think it's a really good system for pre-orders.

my games are,

half life 1

half life 2 with ep 1 and 2

left 4 dead 1 and 2

team fortress 2

portal

outrun 2006

counter-strike source

and a bunch of mods for half life.

You can also install non Steam games onto you games library screen,

So I can launch command and conquer: red alert from my games page and free up my desktop from icons.

I love you steam.

im slowly shopping for a laptop that can play my steam purchases, more to come on that front...i know i asked Logans about this w/mods, but what about levels, player models, etc? Like, if idve bought L4D2 on steam, could i play the crazy mario and zombie movie levels users have made?

that's sharp (nice specs + screen size is good, too!), best buy card says no interest for 18 months so it looks like theyre wining right now. :yup:

looking at september, but yeah, their site shows some good dual-cores for 4-500, cant complain. i gotta look up their video cards though.

From what I understand L4D modding is actively encouraged, as long as it's a mod and not a hack, steam should be friendly with it. I think my Oblivion issues are because it's a 5 year old game and I'm generally unknowledgeable about how to properly install that sort of thing.

that's cool...still gotta load up my steam games, just waiting for a day off & time when the roomates aren't online, plus i gotta made drive space.

i guess im wondering how it goes specifically - do you install shit from within steam itself, or just download it and toss it into a folder somewhere in program files or something? i stopped paying attention to these things in like the late 90s so bear with me here.

Just snagged all the Fallout games, haven't played them in years and I'm fairly certain I didn't actually beat either one. Gonna try to go through 'em in chronological order, including Fallout: Tactics. Never even touched that one.

Not including Brotherhood of Steel ,the Baldur's Gate-ish console game from last gen.
