My understanding was they were in the road leaving the building because it was being shelled.

Yeah she definately needs to impact this world, and I hope she does. Because now that we have elections, we seem to have forgotten that the rest of the world is having problems.

That's what we do though. We bitch when our pocket supercomputer phones take more than a few seconds to access the database of all human knowledge, while people in other places eat twigs and land mines.

Hell I watched this documentary on how 50 years after the Korean war, people are still being killed almost daily just walking in a field or forest from literally tons of unexploded cluster-bombs. Yet if one US tourist, was just injured slightly by some old bomb or something, this whole country would go on a war-path with metal detectors and xray ground readers, and claim this is the worst accidental atrocity ever!

I don't know what I was getting at, other than to say the US is stupid most of the time.

I just hope her message gets out there and makes an impact as she quite literally died to make it known.

John Fairfax, Who Rowed Across Oceans, Dies at 74

Seeking to give her son structure, his mother enrolled him at 6 in the Italian Boy Scouts. It was there, Mr. Fairfax said, that he acquired his love of nature — and his determination to bend it to his will.

While reading that last part, I imagined it being read in a menacing, maniacal-villianish voice.

This British soldier escaped and then snuck back into a Nazi POW camp over 200 times. All for what must be the best cooz in the history of ever love. And he also told off Himmler to his face. Not since Zohan has there been a hairdresser that was such a Bad.Ass.Mother.Fucker.

Horace Greasley

Horace Greasley, who died on February 4 [2010] aged 91, claimed a record unique among Second World War PoWs – that of escaping from his camp more than 200 times only to creep back into captivity each time.

The reason for the frequency with which Greasley put his life in danger, he admitted with engaging good humour and frankness, was simple: he had embarked on a romance with a local German girl. Rosa Rauchbach was, if anything, running even greater risks than Greasley.

A translator at the camp where he was imprisoned, she had concealed her Jewish roots from the Nazis. Discovery of their affair would almost certainly have meant doom for them both.

This guy is not at the level of badass as most of the people in this thread, but to pull this off at 92? He's definitely not to be fucked with...
