Acalis Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Has anyone gone to see this movie yet? Is it any good? I was thinking of going to see it tomorrow at the movies, but I wanna know if it's worth the $10 to go see it.
Lycaon Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Oh, is it out now? I've been wanting to see this.
Lycaon Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 No, Meet the Spartans looks dumb. This looks like it has the potential to be a decent flick.
archangel Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I dunno. Meet The Spartans looks like all the spoof movies: it'll have SOME funny moments but be over-all bleh. this...I'm not sure yet.
La Lindsay Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 from what i've read from reviews, you'll either love it or hate it.
Reverend Jax Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 White People love Michel Gondry + White People love Mos Def The observant among you will probably be aware that the white person wet dream “Be Kind, Rewind” is about to be released. This might be the biggest event in white person film since The Royal Tenenbaums. I seriously can't get enough of this blog.
Acalis Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 Okay, so have any of you actually SEEN it yet? I'm still waiting on a concensus here. I could care less about what some artsy-fartsy movie critic has to say about it. I care about what REAL people think.
FireDownBelow Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Saw it. Liked it. Not what I was expecting, but I wasn't dissapointed either. Script is a little spotty in places and the whole thing left me with a WTF look, but none of this was a disadvantage. If you go in there expecting the unusual you'll be ok. Not as good as Juno, but still a pretty good film.
Darth Fluffakins Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I like it too. It wasn't an all-out knee slapper type comedy, it had a little heart in there too. I was still laughing hard at alot of scenes. I'm also a fan of Jack Black, so that could make a difference.
MetalHeart Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 SO...MANY...MOVIES...I...WANT...TO...WATCH! Argh! Can't wait to watch this.
JunkerSeed Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Fucking loved it! Yes it's very sentimental, but who gives a shit! I thought this was a wonderful movie. Mos Def is a goddamned genius, jack black is doing his shtick but he's well cast and does a good job. Danny Glover is amazing. I think his movie finds a good place for the sentiment that Gondry fills his films with. Far better than Science of sleep which I liked ok. I liked this almost as much as Eternal sunshine.
The NZA Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 shit, that comparison may've sold me; i fucking loved Eternal Sunshine that much. Mos only worries me between his new music and things like Hitchiker's, but ill give this one a go.
MetalHeart Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Damn it, I still gotta watch this! Same here :(
Acalis Posted April 21, 2008 Author Posted April 21, 2008 I never did get to see it in the theaters... is it already out on DVD? If it is, maybe I can rent it.
Reverend Jax Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I skipped it because a friend of mine whose a big fan of Gondry's said it was terrible. I'll probably end up watching it to see for myself.
Iambaytor Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 C'mon Mia Farrow's in it, you have to watch it for that reason if nothing else.
