It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down

I had the radio on, I was drivin

The trees went by, me and del were singin

Little runaway, I was flyin

Yeah runnin down a dream

That never would come to me

Workin on a mystery, goin wherever it leads

Im runnin down a dream

On June 18, 1942, former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney was born in Liverpool, England. The writer of the song "When I'm 64" turns 64 today.

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now,

Will you still be sending me a Valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine?

If I'd been out 'till quarter to three, would you lock the door?

Will you still need me, will you still feed me,

When I'm sixty-four?

Hmm------mmm---mmmh.

You'll be older, too.

Aaah, and if you say the word, I could stay with you.

I could be handy, mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.

You can knit a sweater by the fireside, sunday mornings, go for a ride.

Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?

Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wightif it's not to dear. We shall scrimp and save.

Ah, grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck, and Dave.

Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.

Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away.

Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.

Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

But when he wrote those lyrics as a teenager, he had no idea just how prescient they would be nearly half a century on.

The song, "When I'm Sixty-Four," released on the 1967 Beatles album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," continues: "You'll be older too. And if you say the word I could stay with you."

Despite hopes of "birthday greetings, bottle of wine," the former Beatle's feelings when he reached that landmark age Sunday were likely bittersweet. Just one month ago, he announced he would separate from Heather Mills, his second wife of four years and the mother of his youngest daughter.

Happy birthday, Paul! I love you!

I remember sitting around with my friends listening to your music and how much it's moved and changed me. I wonder what it will be like when I'm Sixty-Four. I hope things go well for you and you get through the tough times ahead!

It's all the same, only the names will change

Everyday it seems we're wasting away

Another place where the faces are so cold

I'd drive all night just to get back home

[Chorus:]

I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride

I'm wanted dead or alive

Wanted dead or alive

Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days

And the people I meet always go their separate ways

Sometimes you tell the day

By the bottle that you drink

And times when you're all alone all you do is think

[Chorus]

I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back

I play for keeps, 'cause I might not make it back

I been everywhere, still I'm standing tall

I've seen a million faces an I've rocked them all

I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride

I'm wanted dead or alive

I'm a cowboy, I got the night on my side

I'm wanted dead or alive

Wanted dead or alive

im here at, wha, 2AM, and winamp's randomly chosen "Waiting for magic", an Ace of Base song about Snow White, basically, and its pretty good, in a i-like-bad-90s-house-music kinda way.

Im owning up to this here, but not over in the "songs in your head" thread cause this post'll be buried in a day or two, but at least i owned up.
