  1. Heh, you started it up SoF? I was gonna try and get together a poll but this'll probably be better. The idea was to decide the best ensemble cast. Three is too low a minimum, at least FOUR, if not FIVE. So far for me nothing's beaten Glengarry Glen Ross: Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Kevin Spacey, Alec Baldwin, Jonathan Pryce I wonder if it holds a record for the most Oscar nominations accrued by the cast (obviously discounting movies like The Player with loads of cameos), Jack Lemmon had loads of nominations, and wins, Pacino, Spacey and Harris as well, dunno if Pryce got nominated for Brazil, Arkin for Catch 22, etc. Other good ones are Tarantino related: Pulp Fiction: John Travolta, Samuel L Jackson, Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman, Ving Rhames, Eric Stoltz, Harvey Kietel, Tim Roth, Christopher Walken, Rosanna Arquette, QT Reservoir Dogs: Harvey Kietel, Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, QT True Romance: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer, James Gandolfini, Michael Rapaport, and uh, QT! C'mon then, some more! Minimum of FOUR
  2. Empire magazine review: I decided to post the (edited) review cos it said everything better than I could think of. With most American movies the scares are done with jump cuts and the like, this (and a lot of Asian horror) however it's the tension that'll scare the hell out of you. American movies don't scare me but movies like this, Ring or Audition have been able to get under my skin and fuck about. This is a very disturbing movie, "makes The Sixth Sense look like Ghostbusters" is completely true, but not only is it a good movie in terms of scares, acting and direction wise it is very strong as well. Yes it has flaws, it lags in places, especially near the end but then comes back with the finale, one of the highlights. I recommend this highly, one of those movies that'd probably never be seen, but if I can get even one person to check it out it'll be worth it.
  3. Finally saw this! I've nothing new to add, decent story good if not brilliant acting, brilliant sound and visuals! IC, you did indeed miss out, Junker why didn't you just tell him Hanks took a job as a sheriff in a small town called Perdition, that would have got him to come running!
  4. As said on Preacher's, it looks good, I'm gonna go see it but it's not being shown here till mid November.
  5. Good to have you back Bob, I hope when you get to doing the accident comic you use the 'Mr Burns running over Bart' episode as reference!
  6. This is about as personal a post I can make but since it's on the random thread no-one'll give a shit....ah whatever: Well, until now I've had pure post apathy, I've just done a week of late shifts where you can do nothing before or after, just wasted a week, had nothing of a life, fucking depressing especially after the two weekends preceding. I've been missing my brother (for best results don a Scottish accent and say 'ma brar') still in Manchester, did fuck all so had fuck all to say....then at 5am on a Friday night after waking up from falling asleep to bullshit TV I decide I'll go to Dublin, see a few movies. Rather than spend my day off getting further cabin fever at home, I decided to fill up my day as best I could. Three movies, Road To Perdition, My Little Eye, and The Eye, then a piss-up to round the day off nicely! For best results read the next paragraph as an evangelist (preferably a black evangelist, they get more emotional than us white folk). I was lost....I was down and alone....and then I saw...,the miracle of cinema! Fuck it, forget the 'read as an evagelist' bit, I forgot what I was going to say. My point is: I was depressed, badly, but movies pulled me from the doldrums. No matter what's shitty in your life, you think you're sinking, grab whatever anchor you've got, hook it on something solid and you'll find what you need to get through the whirlpools and eddys you encounter (Ok, the nautical analogy went to shit but it's still sound). Where there is art of any kind, there is reason to keep going, to snap out of your daze and realise that life is beautiful, maybe not where you're at but elsewhere you'll find that beauty....um, end rant, I've ran out of shit to say, but what I said, and what I didn't say, take it to heart....I'll be back tomorrow, revitalised, to bother you all! PS: 1400 posts...nice!
  7. (All to get on a new page so my personal post doesn't get passed and forgotten #3): The Eye...you will hear more from me on this one. PS: This page is OWN3D BY KOS!!!, and I don't need no fancy picture, cos I can't be arsed!!!
  8. (All to get on a new page so my personal post doesn't get passed and forgotten #2): My Little Eye, tension done so well, better than Blair Witch but...oh oh oh, fucked up on final reel! Not good enough! Too little too late!
  9. (All to get on a new page so my personal post doesn't get passed and forgotten #1): Road To Perdition, decent if unremarkable story, well but not brilliantly acted, visually stunning.
  10. "Now the teacher would say to learn your algebray but I'd bring name C's and D's How could I make an A when there's a swingin' maid On the left and on the right and in the back and the front of me Oh my grades are low on my card I know but they oughta give me one above If I made a mark for learnin' in the dark I'd have straight A's in love" A fivesome! Get you some Johnny Cash! I guess Country singers get all the chicks.
  11. Saw on IMDB that Gary Busey and Danny Trejo are doing voicing on it too...
  12. That'd be where you put the plot twist that IC is controlling all the trolls!
  13. I've never had a problem with subs, I'm a quick reader (if I was a fast typer too I'd be dangerous), but even if you miss a line, well do you catch every line of dialogue in an English movie? One thing I hate is a poor translation, one exceptional one is in the French movie Dobermann. Criminal Vincent Cassel gets away, cop Tcheky Karyo apparently says "Damn it!"...but since I speak some French I know his expletive "Putin de merde!" literally translates as "Whore of shit!" (I thought it might mean "Ass-fucking whore!" either). Yeah just one small line but it's one of the best lines (easily beaten though by Tcheky Karyo to rent-boy after busting in on formal dinner with his parents - "I wonder if they know how many kilometres of cock you've sucked!"). Ultimately though, I hate to think that there's some brilliant films that'll be avoided just cos they're subbed, many of them amongst my favorites ever, Amelie, Shaolin Soccer, Das Boot, Battle Royale, Ring, etc...
  14. I think I'm the only one psyched about '28 Days Later', a realisticly plotted zombie movie by the director of Trainspotting with a score by the fantastic 'Godspeed You Black Emperor!'. I don't think Americans will have even heard of 'Dog Soldiers' but I'm hoping this can be as good with zombies as that was with werewolves, Brit-horror seems to be doing good these days!
  15. Can anyone track down Benny? Maybe he'd understand this "vehicle3" stuff. ???
  16. More Pulp Fiction: "The way your dad looked at it, this watch was your birthright. He'd be damned if any of the slopes were gonna get their greasy yellow hands on his boy's birthright. So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide something: his ass. Five long years, he wore this watch up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you." "There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd."
  17. Yep. That's the best way to describe Ring as said by TMTYL, a constant tense edge with an ending to put the hairs on your neck stick up.
  18. Now I get, "Cannot open file vehicle3"!! Whyyyyy!!! WHYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!
  19. Ok, no more holding out on the Ellis movies, here they are: For point of reference for the first, some guy on that forum did this: http://mm.dfilm.com/mm2s/mm_route.php?id=326346 with the note "Warren is going to have me killed for these. Enjoy!", don't worry if you don't get the in-jokes. To which a moderator there posted, "Run now!" Ellis responded with this, the best comeback since his own "Choke on my fuck!": http://mm.dfilm.com/mm2s/mm_route.php?id=328481 Since then Ellis's done Real Life, True Love and My Heart Will Go On.
  20. Ok, I did some checking, RTPe.exe is a file that's needed to play any games, I'm downloading it now. Apparently: "You MUST download this rather large file or else you won't be able to make RPGs or play any of mine that you can download from this site. It basically contains all of the sound effects, music, character animations, tilesets, etc." GM-O, you can download it, and the RPG maker from http://rpgpalace.gamersuplink.com/rm2k/download.htm (I hope, I'm downloading the RTP from another link I found), that's if you want to use the same RPG maker. The RTP is 11.4MB but the other files you need are a lot smaller, the rest come to less than 6MB in total and you may not need them all. PS: If it works I'll burn MLB a copy too.
  21. Well that's me done, probably till Monday, by which time I should be in jubilant mood after seeing my nephew for the first time! Knowing me may find some way to pop in briefly, but if not... ...until next time, take care of yourselves, and each other... - KoS
  22. Damn, it's been so long since I lost track I'll have to start again. I'm missing vol 16 I think, when I get up to it, if I've not found it, maybe you could give me the major plot points IC? I've read it before so it wouldn't be a spoiler.
  23. Split-screen/beat-em-ups - Bitchslapping and bitching at your mates, can't be beat for me!
  24. Jont's seen it, it's done by a guy that posted on Ellis's forum, Matt Fraction, who apparently has done work for Rockstar Games. Unfortunately he says it's a big flash movie, like REAL big so I don't have time to check it out now, maybe Monday...
