Panch
This doesn't warrant a thread so I'm putting it here. So I'm at Target buying crap for the house when I glance over and see a new Dru Hill album! Anyone that knows me (Nick), knows that I was a huge Dru Hill fan back in the day (I have my reasons). Well, R&B in general, but Dru Hill falls under that flag. Anyways, their relevance is long gone, but I was curious so I bought it. While the first 5 or 6 tracks on the album are classic Sisqo 'Thong Song' type songs with a modern twist, the rest is pretty good. You can quickly see that they've updated their sound to match what's crap hot today and it's... ok. Sisqo sounds raspier which is weird, but the general idea is there. I'm enjoying it the more I listen to it. Here's some tracks: <param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V9SD-NHyOU&hl=en_US&fs=1"> What was the strangest thing on this album were the hidden tracks at the end. Apparently, Nokio (the producer of the group) is releasing a solo album. While that's cool and all, but... well just listen: <param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juSoQqkJae8&hl=en_US&fs=1"> ????????????????????? Mr. Hakujin
Solomon Burke, the soul legend behind Atlantic R&B classics including "Cry to Me" and "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love," died early this morning after arriving at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport. He was 70. Known as “The King of Rock and Soul,” Burke has been covered by artists including Otis Redding, Bruce Springsteen, and the Rolling Stones. In the last decade, Burke enjoyed resurgence as one of the last living soul legends. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and won his first Grammy in 2003. Photos: Remembering Solomon Burke Burke left behind 21 children, 90 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, many of whom toured with him and pursued music careers of their own. He spent his life preaching as spiritual leader for Los Angeles’ nonsectarian Church of God for All People. "From day one, literally God and gospel were the driving forces behind the man and his music," his website says. Burke was born March 21, 1940 in West Philadelphia, and was raised by his mother and grandmother, who led a nonsectarian church. He preached his first sermon at age seven and was named a bishop by 21. He began singing in church at fourteen, the same year he earned his first hit with "Christmas Presents From Heaven" on Apollo Records. Panch
Rapper T.I. Talks Suicidal Man Down From Ledge of BuildingOct 13th 2010 10:20PM Rapper T.I. came to the rescue early Wednesday afternoon when he helped police talk a suicidal man down from an Atlanta skyscraper, the Associated Press reports. After hearing about the jumper on the radio, T.I. [real name: Clifford Harris] went to the scene and offered his help to the police. Police said the man agreed to come down in exchange for a face-to-face chat with T.I. The rapper recorded a short video of himself that rescue workers took to the man to prove T.I. was actually there. TMZ reported what T.I. said in the video message: "Nothing is that bad. Nothing in life is worth taking your life. I'm here to help you. Please come down to talk to me." The man then met with T.I. in the building's lobby. "I told him it ain't that bad. It'll get better, to put the time and effort into making it better," T.I. said in a phone interview with The Associated Press. "I just reminded him know that I know. It looks bad right now, but it can turn around." Once he was out of harm's way, the suicidal man was taken to the hospital. His name hasn't been released. T.I.'s heroics came just days before he's due to appear in court for a parole hearing after being arrested for a drug incident last month in Los Angeles. He's also on supervised release after spending a year in prison on weapons charges.

The NZA
was just talking to los @ "what happened to rock in the mainstream"....from 2002 Simply put, Creed fills the gaping chasm between teen pop and rap-rock, a fact that hasn't eluded Stapp. "When we came out, rock 'n' roll was dead," he says. "They said rock bands couldn't sell records anymore. Now, rock has taken over Top 40 [radio], and 90% of the bands sound like us. We changed the whole scope of music and defined an era. I call that era "anthemic rock."
