It's been around for a while, it's just been in preproduction stages for years. Soderbergh started working on writing it after he did Traffic with Benicio, then Terrence Malick got ahold of the project and had it for years, putting a lot of work into the script. He dropped it abruptly to do The New World and Soderbergh picked it back up, rewrote the script completely (reportedly broadening the scope, including adding a sequence that covers when Che spoke at the UN in '64 - probably what that pic is from) and now they're finally shooting it.

'Simpsons' Movie Confirmed

Homer Simpson and his hugely popular family are set to hit the big screen in a new full-length movie based on the cult cartoon series. The show's principal voice actors have all signed on for the project and creator Matt Groening is delighted with the script for the film. The Simpsons' spokeswoman Antonia Kaughman says, "Now we're going to get the best of both worlds, evidently... They finally worked out a movie team, a team of the writers, because we could never hire outside writers - they had to be Simpsons writers, and most of them were working on the show. They finally put this team together that has time on the side, and they've been working on the script. So the movie won't be at the end of the series - they'll be working simultaneously."

There's been a planned full-length Simpsons movie on the table for probably the better part of a decade now, but this is the first time it's been confirmed and given the greenlight. Let's just hope it doesn't spell the inevitable end of the series, like some tv-to-movies do (ala The X Files).

Very much a teaser for the Simpons movie, with a set release date.

Let's play a fun game of guess the movie.

No? Can't get it.

It was the Wicker Man of course.

But Jont, that looks nothing like the Wicker Man.

That's what I thought.

Source: tombnews.com/

Date: April 20th, 2006

Angelina Jolie will be reprising her role as Lara Croft in "Tomb Raider III" reports Britain's The Daily Express.

Jolie will start training for the new movie almost immediately after her new child's birth. She is currently in Nambia with Brad Pitt and their two adopted children (Madox and Zahara) awaiting the birth of their child.

The creator of the game and character, Ian Livingstone told the newspaper that "Paramount has optioned it and Angelina has agreed to star in the third", whilst a source added "Angelina is already in training to make sure she gets rid of her post-pregnancy bulge. She wants to be in tip-top shape and look better in Lara's outfit than ever".

Both previous "Tomb Raider" films took in $274 million and $156 million in their theatrical runs and did booming business on DVD. The gaming franchise, which suffered a setback from "Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness", bounced back with the new release "Tomb Raider: Legend" landing on number 1 spots around the globe and enjoying excelend reviews.

SCI and Paramount talk on Tomb Raider 3 movie

The The Business Online states that SCI, the computer games company that owns Lara Croft, along with her Tomb Raider franchise, is in talks with Paramount Pictures over licensing the property for a third Hollywood movie.

The previous two movies have grossed more than $450m (€383m) at the box office and are based on the video game of the same name.

Sources in Hollywood say negotiations have started between Paramount and SCI for the latest movie, and Angelina Jolie has once again expressed an interest in starring as Lara Croft, the English archaeologist-adventurer.

The video game and film industries have grown closer over the years, as games are licensed to film studios. The Tomb Raider game has sold more than 30m copies since 1996.

It is thought that Eidos took a one-off licensing fee from Paramount in 1998 and collected a percentage of the film’s gross receipts. It also gets a cut of sales from Tomb Raider merchandising.

The new Superman Trailer is out. Looking good. superman returns

Looks good. Hopefully Singer can bring the series back to it's golden age roots, and somehow work in a spanking scene.

There's a French trailer on you tube for Casino Royale (or as the rest of the world calls it Casino Quarter-pounder.) which looks pretty sweet, I can't believe Bond fans are pessimistic about this one, did they see Die Another Day?

Not all Bond fans, man. I think Danny Craig and this new direction are going to be the best things for the Bond franchise.

I love the new teaser poster too, it's class and it'll look great on my wall someday.

Just watched the Superman trailer. Singer's got me more interested in seeing a Superman movie than I've ever been. I'm still not sold on the leads and how young they look, especially now that the plot is clearer (so Superman disappeared from Earth five years ago, that would make him...what...15 when he left?) but it'll be worth the price of admission just to watch Spacey have this much fun with Luthor.

Original Unaltered Star Wars Trilogy on DVD!

Source: Lucasfilm

May 3, 2006

Lucasfilm has announced that this September fans can look forward to the long-awaited DVD release of the original theatrical incarnations of the classic "Star Wars" trilogy!

In response to overwhelming demand, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release attractively priced individual two-disc releases of "Star Wars," "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." Each release includes the 2004 digitally remastered version of the movie, as well as the original theatrical edition of the film. That means you'll be able to enjoy "Star Wars" as it first appeared in 1977, "Empire" in 1980, and "Jedi" in 1983.

See the title crawl to "Star Wars" before it was known as "Episode IV"; see the pioneering, if dated, motion control model work on the attack on the Death Star; groove to Lapti Nek or the Ewok Celebration song like you did when you were a kid; and yes, see Han Solo shoot first.

This release will only be available for a limited time: from September 12th to December 31st. The international release will follow on or about the same day. Each original theatrical version will feature Dolby 2.0 Surround sound, close-captioning, and subtitles in English, French and Spanish for their U.S. release. International sound and subtitling vary by territory.

"Over the years, a truly countless number of fans have told us that they would love to see and own the original version that they remember experiencing in theaters," said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts and Senior Vice President of Lucasfilm Ltd. "We returned to the Lucasfilm Archives to search exhaustively for source material that could be presented on DVD. This is something that we're very excited to be able to give to fans in response to their continuing enthusiasm for Star Wars. Topping it off with a new interactive adventure makes September 12 a red-letter day for Star Wars fans."

Thankfully my birthday is in September so I won't have to pay for it. I have it the original trilogy VHS (which I still haven't opened). On the box Mr. Lucas said it was the final time it would be availabe in its original version. You lied, Mr. Lucas. You lied.
