Things like that remind me of how fucking stupid Cassidy's "Laurel and Hardy > Charlie Chaplain" comment toward the end of Preacher was. I hope that wasn't Garth's actual thougths on the matter and just something that sounded like the stupid shit people say in bars.

it was probably just a preference thing.

Woody Allen's made some really great movies, but if your character's gonna juxtapose them with say, John Ford, i'm not gonna debate cinema but i'll likely choose a flick by the latter over the former. same thing.

No, it's not a matter of taste, it's like comparing The Farely Brothers to the Marx Brothers. They were entirely different eras and there would be no Laurel and Hardy without Charlie Chaplin pioneering comedy movies. Charlie Chaplin's movies didn't even have sound. It's not comparable and doing so makes somebody sound like a jackass. It's like "Man I fucking hate the 3 Stooges, Peter Sellers is way funnier!" It is the kind of stupid shit you'd hear in a bar though.

Where is this bar? In a retirement community?

You know, confession time here, I didn't hate 1999's Godzilla. It had some great action and I actually felt the redesign was fresh and interesting, the only problem was all the parts that involved people talking and forming mouth-words sucked. But anything that involved giant lizards or even slightly-larger-than-man-sized lizards was okay in my book. Plus the animated series was pretty kick-ass.

i didnt see the animated, but i don't disagree with any of that. i thought the redesign was alright, and the bits with godzilla were great. it was everything else (maybe even the godzookies, they got too much time) that ruined it.

The Godzookies did get a bit too much time (in comparison to the big one, not to the people in the movie and to be fair Hank Azaria and Jean Reno are not to blame, I'm looking at Mr. Sarah Jessica Parker on this one) but tell me it was any less entertaining than anything the Velociraptors did in Jurassic Park.
