Visitant
I watched GI Joe last night while playing Monster Hunter. I want that hour and a half of my life back.

Mr. Hakujin
The trailer make sit seem almost charming, but I'm guessing from the godawful film clip I saw online it was really that bad. I shall definitely avoid.
the division of joy
The Adjustment Bureau (base don a short story by Philip K. Dick) I was a bit disappointed in this one, but the gf liked it more than I did. It was a lot less action and suspense than I anticipated. I'd say save for a rental. Also . . . . . .don't go in expecting it to be int he realm of sci-fi. I know, the trailers were cleverly deceptive on that one. You may like the switcheroo payoff, but I for one was left feeling "meh" about it. I saw this. I quite liked it. Plus Emily Blunt is all kinds of pretty. Aartemys
No review? Or was it that bad? Oh no...I loved it! I was just exhausted last night since we spent most of the day flying back to NH from Miami. I took the nephews to see it and thought it was great. I'm a sucker for animated movies, a sucker for love stories and a sucker for Romeo & Juliet so it was a trifecta for me. I think it caters more to girls than boys, but it worked. No comparison to Disney movies -- that's sure -- but it was entertaining. My favorite of the lawn gnomes was the Mankini one...

Mr. Hakujin
Omg! Instantly made it into my top ten movies ever. Seriously, this flick was flawless! Wow! I haven't had that good a time looking at laptop since... well, earlier while looking at porn... THREE thumbs up! ;) Saw this last night and absolutely loved it! I don't know how this film got lost in the shuffle, and flopped. It's a hilarious male teen-comedy for adults. So maybe that's a niche market. I also discovered there are four novels by author C.D. Payne, and this film was based on the first--which is about 500pgs long. I picked up the first one,Youth In Revolt: The Journals of Nick Twisp, to add to my collection of novels collecting dust I hope to read if I ever make the time. Still better than Scott Pilgrim. As for the novel... let me know how it turns out. I'd like to read more about Nick Twisp/Francois Dillinger's adventures. You know, if you make the time. APANCHALYPSE RETURNS
I Saw the Devil Must of not been so good cause there's no review along with those words. Seriously? I just don't get why folks just come in here and don't even say one word about the movie they just saw? Not even one word? The movie wasn't good or bad enough to garner one word? Why even post? I see what you did there Lindsay and I don't appreciate it.

Jables
Check the title Panch. This isn't the 'How did the last movie you saw make you feel?' thread... Somewhere before another Twilight Zone Marathon i saw Episode III of the prequels.

I don't get the volume of love you're throwing at this movie. I mean yes it's a pleasant, hipster interpretation of Fight Club but I wouldn't call it a comedy in the LOL sense, more of that slight smirk quasi-comedy way. APANCHALYPSE RETURNS
I knew someone was gonna come in here and have that rebuttal. I'm sorry. I'm just saying, I think its a give in if you see a flick that you review it when mentioning. One word. Crap or great is all it takes. I know when I watch a movie I liked I want people to see it. If it sucked then I like to let them know as well with the invitation to watch and make your own judgement. I know that's what this thread has become. Whatever, I'll shut up now. Sorry Linds. Mr. Hakujin
I saw this. I quite liked it. Plus Emily Blunt is all kinds of pretty. She's aaight. I like my ladies a little more curvy. She did look good in those dance scenes though; I'll give her that. Glad you liked it, man. Still better than Scott Pilgrim. As for the novel... let me know how it turns out. I'd like to read more about Nick Twisp/Francois Dillinger's adventures. You know, if you make the time. Check it out on Amazon.com, Panch. Almost the entire book is on there in the preview section. Crazy! I read a good bit of it there and there's a lot more to do w/ "Carlotta" and he's got an older sister. It's got great one-liners throughout. Some of which i wonder why they left out of the film; e.g. "My last name is Twisp. Even John Wayne on a horse would look effeminate pronouncing that name." I don't get the volume of love you're throwing at this movie. I mean yes it's a pleasant, hipster interpretation of Fight Club but I wouldn't call it a comedy in the LOL sense, more of that slight smirk quasi-comedy way. I thought you were giving props w/ the Durden comparison on fb, but now I see your troll deceptions! Srsly thoug, Youth In Revolt was published in 1993, and Fight Club in 1996. If anything, Tyler Durden is the more violent, cultish version of Francois Dillinger. Just sayin'.
Iambaytor
Saw Youth in Revolt a few months ago with Amber, it was every bit as good as Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Adventureland (that is to say, I finished it and said "That was decent, I don't believe I shall ever watch this again." It was also a monumental waste of Zach Galifianakis, Steve Buscemi, and Fred Willard. It's also like the sixth movie that's prompted a "Ray Liotta, why the fuck are you here?" from me. It wasn't the hipsterishness (and it was chock full of it) or the similarities to Fight Club (Even if it was a comedy ripoff of Fight Club, it's still a better comedy ripoff of Fight Club than Old School was) as much as it was the meandering lack of plot that ultimately really went nowhere. It makes sense the book is part of the series as it was a pretty weak ending, though it was also the only ending it could really have. TL:DR = Plot just kinda milled around till the end, WTF Ray Liotta, and that's about it. Recently watched The Aftermath as I was led to believe it was a fun little Post-Apocalypse film that involved astronauts, mutants, and Raiders. That was a lie. It's a boring under-cooked story made of generic plot points and the most boring and forced narration I've ever heard (And I've seen at least 2 versions of Dune). The mutants were cool-ish as far as low budget 70s apocalypse mutants go, there were a couple cool gore scenes, and Sid Haig is pretty much the entire reason to watch the movie. Unfortunately all those good things add up to about 20 minutes of run-time. The rest of the time we get the adventures of captain bland and his annoying moralising partner wandering around the post-nuke world, getting some longwinded "When will man learn" speech from a museum curator, a relationship between our protagonist and a young boy that's just this side of creepy (I think it has partially to do with his John Holmes stache), and a bunch of long silent sections where he narrates what I am watching him do on screen as if I am blind or something. Then as these movies always do, everybody except the kid dies and we're treated to his longwinded narration as he walks down a dusty desert highway. This and Parasite (a 1982 movie of the same pedigree that features the first appearance of Demi Moore) have been my biggest disappointments. But it's a long and lonely road I walk down as I plan to watch every post-apocalypse movei I can (even the ones I nkow to be bad) and I've got Tank Girl and the live-action Fist of the North star waiting like landmines in the near future for me to be disgusted by. Incidently if anyone has reccomendations feel free to lay them on me. Edited March 11, 2011 by Iambaytor

The only internet I have is on my phone and Hulu videos don't load. YouTube and others do, but no Hulu :( I catch it eventually. I'm just looking forward to New Orleans for my birthday where I'm gonna try and visit actual Banksy art on the street. He did some stuff there after Katrina and I never knew. It'll be a great bday present to get some photos with his work.
