"That's my secret, captain...I'm always horny"

How long has Shrek Chyna been doing hardcore pornography? I knew she did the Playboy thing, but I had no idea her career had regressed to sucking dick on camera.

Also, anyone else think it's kinda funny that there's a guy named Eric Masterson playing Hawkeye?

Anyway, I appreciate the lineup. I may need to obtain this for my research.

‘Avengers’: Joss Whedon talks sequel, ‘Buffy’ and ‘X-Men’ parallels

“The Avengers” passed the $1-billion mark in worldwide ticket sales this weekend, and a sequel is already in the works. Does that mean writer-director Joss Whedon will be back at the helm of the franchise that unites Marvel’s box-office heavyweights, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Hulk?

“You know, I’m very torn,” Whedon said in a sit-down interview in Beverly Hills before the film’s U.S. opening. “It’s an enormous amount of work telling what is ultimately somebody else’s story, even though I feel like I did get to put myself into it. But at the same time, I have a bunch of ideas, and they all seem really cool.”

I can only imagine all the dissappointed children who are going to be getting copies of a mediocre Ralph Fiennes/Uma Thruman/Sean Connery adaptation of a TV show from their grandmothers this Christmas.

Hence the deplorable 'Avengers Assemble' title it got here. I swear, they were one excalamation mark away from me not going to see it.

Not really though

Epic fookin movie.

Carnage was captured so well, especially in the end without a hitch. and showing paired teams fighting... I swear a tear came to my eye as it was like I was reading a comic. This one has to be Marvel's best one yet. (surprisingly)

There i expressed myself.

I saw it in theaters a second time with my sister. She was talking about how much she liked it and asked me "does Black Widow have her own movie?" I said she didn't, but there's been talk that she might get her own movie. I said she was introduced in Iron Man 2. She said she didn't see Iron Man 2, only Iron Man 1. She then said Captain America should get his own movie, and I said he did, last year. She was like "Really! I have to watch that on Netflix!" I said "Thor got a movie too." "Oh, Thor was awesome in this movie. Was his movie good? I'll have to watch that on Netflix too!"

Obviously, when Avengers made more in it's first weekend worldwide than any other Marvel movie made in their entire runs*, there are going to be a lot of people who see it who didn't see all the previous Marvel movies, and considering the response has been so positive, a lot of those people will go watch the solo movies, particularly of the characters they enjoyed the most. I suspect we could see even better numbers out of future Marvel movies like Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Cap 2, and even a Hulk movie with Ruffalo, a Black Widow movie, a SHIELD movie (though that doesn't have me as interested now that

Agent Coulson died

), or even a properly marketed Ant-Man or Black Panther movie, though, maybe the better strategy for the second tier characters is to introduced them in a bigger movie, like Avengers 2 or Cap 2, then give them solo movies.

* Not an actual fact.

I'm too young to remember Howard the Duck in theaters (I had to experience it for the time on VHS, a magical experience nonetheless), but I remember going to see movies like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in theaters, and I remember movie tickets being about $3 back then. I also remember seeing gas station price boards with gas under $1/gallon.

Not even sure how much tickets were way back yonder but don't certain lists adjust the takings based on inflation? I remember reading that Titanic undoubtedly had a bigger audience in terms of the number of people who physically watched it than say Avatar which took in a comparable gross. It seems the price rises in tickets keep pace with the dwindling number of people actually going to a theatre.

PS I think the first movie I saw in the cinema was Home Alone 1. Not sure if that should make me feel old or not.

Well, we had nearby theaters in neighboring towns but my parents never really felt the need to take me 30 miles to watch a movie they probably didn't want to see with a kid who would probably talk through it so we rented a lot of movies or watched them on TV. However my Dad has a penchant for craps so when he'd go to Kansas City to the riverboat casino which has like 10 restaurants, and arcade, and a movie theater. If it was a big movie and came out between the 1999 and 2003 I probably saw it at that theater. I don't honestly find it that bad that I didn't get taken to a theater till 11. I plan to take Ean once he's maybe 7 or 8 and depending on how he handles it I'll take him back.

Buncha young punks. First film I can remember seeing in theaters was the original theatrical release of E.T.

Of course you don't find it that bad. You don't know any better.

11 is old dude. That's some 3rd world shit right there.

Not seeing a film in theaters until you're 11 is some Kony (2012!) type madness. Damn.

Just got back. Holy fucking shit. When Joss Whedon was put on this project I got really worried, I will mention here that I am a tremendous Joss Whedon fan, and even though I loved the Iron Man and Hulk movies I only liked Thor and thought that Captain America wasn't very good at all (still good enough to own, just- I don't know, didn't have me excited at any point.) I was so glad to see that much like Log, this was better than bad. It was good. It was really really fucking good. Everybody got a chance to shine (and Whedon definitely got his money's worth out of the one female hero he had the keys to. I am so glad that the Ant-Man movie has yet to come out, it gives me more of a chance to gird my loins for Wasp's shrewishness) and while I really really like Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, I have to say that I love Mark Ruffalo's Gentleman Hobo take on the character (though I'm not sure that was acting and not just Mark Ruffalo being himself at this point.) It was a nice little Iron Man 2.5 and I finally got a proper Captain America movie! Still not really digging Nick Fury, his main character trait is still being played by Samuel L. Jackson and he's not near gruff and curmudgeonly enough to be Fury. (FUCK ULTIMATE FURY, seriously, aside from his introduction in Ultimate X-Men he's been the most boring character in the whole universe. Being the comics version of Jiff Ramsey does not make him a good character.)

There were just several moments when I shivered. And fuck you Jay, the post-credits pun was the shit.

They had better bring back Coulson as The Vision or something. I figure Black Panther is in the roster for Part 2 seeing how the Avengers initiative map from Iron Man 2 showed one of the hero locations being in Africa. I kind of felt like Rhodesy was the 200-pound gorilla in the room where the big clusterfuck at the end was, I mean did it never occur to Tony to call up his black friend with the way more decked out suit? They could have at least thrown in a vague hint at why he didn't show up, Natalie Portman got one. Ant-Man/Giant Man and Wasp will probably be part 2 roster as well seeing as Edgar Wright may finally be getting this off the ground. I just hope they take a different direction with Pym, he slapped Janet once. ONCE back in the fucking sixties and he's been made out as a horrible wife beating piece of shit ever since. Everybody knows that's Reed Richards' game. I don't mind crazy Pym, he's actually gone crazy more than once. But if we're going to be following the Ultimates for these movies we just need to take a sharp knife and trim off all the Millarness like they did with this one.

After its third weekend at the US box office (fourth weekend worldwide), The Avengers is now the 4th highest grossing film of all time with $1,180,378,000. It's within striking distance of passing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which made $1,327,655,619. Titanic made $1,835,300,000 (which includes the recent re-release figures) which would be tougher to pass, and Avatar made $2,781,505,847, which will be even less likely to happen.

It's also at #5 in US numbers, only about $4M shy of passing Star Wars IV, and $75M of passing The Dark Knight, after which the top 2 are the same as the worldwide top two, Titanic and Avatar. Right now, Intrade has the chances of it making $625M by July 23rd at 44%, which is the end of The Dark Knight Rises' opening weekend. That would put it over Titanic but under Avatar domestically.
