Shoutbox can't be partitioned, it can't be sectioned, and it's on the fucking front page so it could and will get someone in trouble if it's seen at the wrong moment. A simple unspoken rule of "Don't be a cunt" should be enough but apparently it's not and a written rule has everyone cry censorship because apparently the real name of this place is "Anarchy Inc." Not as funny as straight posting it, I know, but you still get your point across and people don't get fired/introuble, kids don't see naughty things before they're supposed to, and everybody wins. People got along just fine without the shoutbox before, so there's no reason you can't get along without it now, if you feel it's too NSFW or NSFK (k for kids). Just turn the damned thing off. And that is the crux of the problem, there are places assigned for blatantly NSFW material, and those threads are pretty much never touched. The shout box, being where it is does pose a bit of a concern. It would kinda be like running down the street holding a TV that is playing hard core porn. If there were a way to enable and disable images on shout box individually, this wouldn't be a problem. At the end of the day though, what Nick says goes, he could change to logo to a bear fellating a goat, and that would be his business, though I imagine there might be sharp drop off in visitations. Sounds like people so against things that happen in this site are the ones that need to grow the fuck up, as you put it. I said that I agree with the fact that you dont want your IT admin or boss to be wondering why you have a naked lady up on your computer, I very much agree, it is your job. Now, while at your job, you dont go to sites where you might come across that shit right, no playboy.com no hustler.com... no chatting in shoutbox. We didnt have shoutbox for wha... 7 years or something? Now, its a must have while you are at work? Just close it out, be responsible for yourself. Are you sure about this? I remember when I was on dial-up, the '5 most recent posts' box would slow my shit down so I kept it off. Can't be sure but I think my comp would remember my last setting and the box would be minimized by default every visit. We should look into this to make sure. I think the minimizing thing is not from account to account, but from computer to computer. I know cause I minimized it at home and it still comes up unminimized at work when i log in there, since there's hundreds of possible computers at work, i wouldn't be able to minimize them every time. this is all on top of Ryan's earlier post about loading as well. You CAN post whatever you want: in the appropriate thread. And I've already stated why the whole shoutbox bit being closed doesn't work out too well. so, in the end, the imposing is on your end.
