Possibly no MJ at all at this point in the franchise. So, Emma Stone as Gwen is better than no Emma Stone at all, IMHO. She's definitely hot as a brunette or red head, but maybe she'll look good in a blond wig. And honestly, it wouldn't be the end of the world for me if Gwen WASN'T blond in the film. Rebooting a franchise 5 years after the last installment is one thing (Hulk took 5 years, Punisher only took 4), but to give it the same title? I mean, why not 'The Amazing Spider-Man'? Obviously Batman's nickname was better for a serious title than any of Spider-Man's nicknames ('Webhead' doesn't sound very good), but jeesh. Is this the official title? This whole movie reeks of what is apparently the 'hipster sensibility' ie choosing stylised obscurity over substance. I could give a fucking about Leary knocking over Cromwell as Cap'n Stacey(you can already see he's going to be the edgy & slightly-longer-lived version of Uncle Ben), but wheeling out Gwen this early? Cromwell and Bryce Dallas Howard were great editions to an (at best) un-even Spidey 3, and that shall be their legacy in the world o' pidey films. Other than having red hair and living nex door, the Mary Jane of the movie was Gwen, it was her personality with another character's name. Makes perfect sense to roll her out first. She's your ace in the hole, and this is why just about every re-telling ever done, will use MJ as the standard, and then bring Gwen Stacey in later. I knew of mech shooters back in the old days, but did spidey use special shit on his feet to stick to walls also? If so I had no knowledge of that. Anyways, still optimistic here. Still think it could be loads worse, all spider-man 3 jokes aside, it'll at least be interesting to see how the story'll fit into this new marvel movie-verse. I'd say (hope) that's just something being worn by the actor for "grip" or whatever and will be cg'd out of the finished product. I knew of mech shooters back in the old days, I'm hearing this a lot lately. Does Spidey not use web shooters in the comics anymore? On the suit in general, I'm undecided. It kind has a ski suit feel, something that a poor kid would more than likely use if making a suit. It's like a cross between between Kick Ass' suit and Raimi's Spidey suit.
