The NZA
In the era of the Shogun, an evil young lord rapes and kills, assured of immunity by law. But he didn’t count on the Thirteen Assassins. A feared secret force, each with their own deadly skill, the Assassins undertake a suicide mission to wipe out the Lord. As he embarks on a perilous journey, the Assassins close off his escape route and ambush him in a village of death. But little do they know, they are outnumbered four to one by the Lord’s crack team of bodyguards. The streets will run red. not new, but mostly new to me - ive heard good things, and it looks reserved for a Takashi Miike flick. watching this soon. Mr. Hakujin
13 Assassins was available via On Demand or something like that for a month before it actually had a theatrical release this past weekend in the US, Nick. I haven't checked, but there are likely torrents around. I'd really like to see this on a big screen as it looks to be a large scale, epic film, but it doesn't appear to be getting a theatrical release in NOLA. Too many other Hollywood blockbusters coming out this summer edged it out, I guess. :/ And I agree w/ Jax--Cat Run looks like a pretty good action-comedy flick. Thelogan
Everything I've seen about that movie looks obscenely awesome, except for the stupid ass American trailer, and even that can't completely sully it's awesomeness.

Thelogan
Another movie about a girl with deadly tentacle arms? Are there no original ideas left anymore? I liked it the first time, when it was called Braveheart.
Iambaytor
So I take it this is the latest from the Tokyo Gore Police/Frankenstein Girl vs. Dracula Girl/Robogeisha people? I must admit they just keep getting crazier but they've yet to top Machine Girl.
SevynTNein
I'm surprised that no one had posted this yet... I can't wait! [Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part II] Wait one bloody second....I heard that they were considering re-writing the end to better suit the plebes that rather watch the movies than read the books...from the loox of that trailer....I'm scared to think that they actually fuckin' did precisely that....fuck. me. Aartemys
You know that they almost always ruin good books to appease the plebes...
Mr. Hakujin
I finally started reading the book and up pops Fincher's red-band trailer on the web... <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kOFGI0p6SM?version=3"><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kOFGI0p6SM?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kOFGI0p6SM?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

I remain unconvinced.
Mr. Hakujin
I never saw the original, but, damn, this thing actually looks pretty good--like Lost Boys, but more badass (if that's even possible).
Keth
(if that's even possible). it isn't the movie does look pretty sweet though.
Iambaytor
I'm gonna drop a bomb here, but Fright Night was better than Lost Boys. Maybe it's because they had better gore, maybe it's because they didn't shoehorn in a lovestory about two boring teenagers I don't care about, or maybe it was the memorable turns of future heroin-addict/gay porn star Stephen Geoffreys as Evil Ed. But if I had to choose one, it's Fright Night.
Jables
I have trouble comparing the two. Fright Night's way more tongue in cheek & timeless whereas Lost Boys shoots for dark-as-fuck 80's and has Alex Winter. I'd be inclined to agree, I think. Peter Vincent's awesome. Haven't seen the preview for the remake though. You guys are liking it?
Iambaytor
I would say it's a nice approximation of what Fright Night was to 80s applied to the 10s. It looks like a very watchable vampire movie for what it's worth (and let's be honest, that's worth a lot)
Thelogan
I dunno about that remake. I really like Fright Night because, as JZA said, it's very tongue in cheek. It's hard to tell with that trailer, because a lot of the time the studios try really hard to downplay shit that doesn't take itself too seriously. In the FN/LB battle royale, FN gets kudos for having a young Marcy Rhoades/D'arcy (depending on which season you're on) in a rare slightly-less-dikey performance. Mr. Hakujin
baytor be droppin' hater bombs and axel droppin' truth bombs, yo. "boring teenagers." LB had prime-time Jamie Gertz action. there's nothing boring about that.
Iambaytor
I'm not sure what that post says because I don't read raging douche, but I can say that maybe if you watched Fright Night your input in this discussion would have more gravity.
